Amit Shah extends birthday wishes to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, praises his leadership

Ahmedabad, July 15 (IANS) Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to social media to extend heartfelt birthday greetings to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. In his message, HM Shah praised CM Patel, 63, for continuing the legacy of development and public welfare set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

“Warm birthday wishes to Gujarat CM Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel. You are consistently carrying forward the milestones of development and public welfare set by Modi ji in Gujarat. I pray to Somnath Dada for your happy, healthy, and successful life,” Shah wrote on X.

The message, posted in both Hindi and Gujarati, carried a deep cultural and political resonance. By invoking “Somnath Dada”, a revered deity from the Somnath Temple, Shah blended spiritual blessings with political symbolism — an approach often seen in the BJP’s communication. Shah’s public note reflects not only personal camaraderie but also political continuity in Gujarat’s leadership.

Since assuming office in 2021, CM Bhupendra Patel has positioned himself as a quiet yet firm administrator, steering the state along the development path championed by PM Modi. Since taking charge as Gujarat’s Chief Minister in 2021, Bhupendra Patel has focused on infrastructure expansion, industrial growth, and grassroots governance. Under his leadership, Gujarat has strengthened its position as a manufacturing and investment hub, hosting major global events like the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024.

CM Patel has also emphasised urban development through smart city projects, streamlined public service delivery via digital platforms, and prioritised sectors like education, health, and renewable energy.

Known for his low-key but efficient style, he has worked to maintain political stability while continuing the BJP’s development-driven agenda in the state.

Bhupendra Patel began his political career as a municipal councillor in Ahmedabad and gradually rose through the ranks of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), earning a reputation for his administrative acumen and grassroots connect. A civil engineer by training, he served as the Chairman of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) and was also a trustee of several educational and religious institutions.

In 2017, he was elected as an MLA from the Ghatlodia constituency, a seat previously held by former CM Anandiben Patel. Known for his quiet and consensus-driven leadership, Patel was chosen as Chief Minister of Gujarat in September 2021, marking a surprise but strategically sound choice by the party for continuity and stability in state governance.

Mumbai, July 5 (IANS) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief leader Eknath Shinde on Saturday attacked the Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray, saying that he has revealed his agenda for power, showing selfishness during his rally.

“While Raj Thackeray’s solicitude for the Marathi language was evident in his speech, Uddhav Thackeray showed anger, hatred and a thirst for power and a chair. He did not speak for Marathi, but for selfishness and the agenda of power,” claimed Shinde in his reaction to the joint victory rally addressed by Uddhav and Raj Thackeray to celebrate the Maharashtra government’s move to withdraw the introduction of Hindi along with Marathi and English from grade one.

Interestingly, Shinde slammed Uddhav Thackeray while sparing Raj from criticism.

“It was expected that Uddhav Thackeray would apologise to the Marathi people for accepting the report on making Hindi compulsory from class 1 to 12 in the state during his chief ministership, but he turned that platform into a political arena,” alleged Shinde.

He said, “Some were saying that there is no flag, no agenda. However, while one followed that path, the other showed the flag of selfishness and the agenda of power. Today’s gathering disappointed the Marathi people.”

Taking a swipe at Uddhav Thackeray, Shinde said, “Three years ago, we revolted against injustice and had only half a hand on our beard, then they fell down and have not recovered yet. Now they are trying to get up by holding someone’s hand.”

He criticised Uddhav Thackeray for using “Dho dala, utega nahi saala” dig against him. To those who asked what he had done for Marathi, Shinde said that when he was the Chief Minister, the government took a decision on the state anthem, and today’s rally began with that state anthem.

“It was decided to give the status of a classical language to the Marathi language. Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately agreed to this proposal. It is unfortunate that Prime Minister Modi was also criticised today. This showed his (Uddhav Thackeray’s) attitude, hatred, helplessness and lust for power,” he claimed.

“Uddhav Thackeray led, Shiv Sena, should answer why Marathi people were thrown out of Mumbai, why the Marathi percentage was decreasing in the schools. The people showed him their place in the Legislative Assembly elections because he abandoned Balasaheb Thackeray’s thoughts and ideas in 2019. Shiv Sena won 60 MLAs, while Shiv Sena UBT could win only 20 seats in the 2024 Assembly elections. Thackeray led Shiv Sena betrayed the people, Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideas and Hindutva in 2019 for the power,” he alleged.

We must move together for the state’s development: Rajasthan CM

Jaipur, Feb 27 (IANS) Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma stressed on Thursday that both the ruling party and the opposition must unite to drive Rajasthan’s development for its eight crore citizens.

Addressing the Assembly, he emphasised that every member has the duty to uphold the dignity of the House and conduct debates with respect and restraint.

Reflecting on the recent deadlock in the House, the Chief Minister urged all legislators to think carefully before speaking.

“When we debate, emotions can run high, but every word matters. We must ensure that our conduct does not undermine the respect our people expect from us,” he said.

He warned that careless remarks not only hurt others but also damage one’s own reputation, likening unchecked behavior to a small fault growing into a major issue. Sharma also reiterated the importance of following the established rules of the House.

He praised the Speaker for his role in maintaining order and reminded members that every minute spent in the House should benefit the people of Rajasthan. “Our time here is precious and funded by the public. We must use it wisely, ensuring that our actions reflect the trust placed in us,” he stated.

Highlighting the need for accountability, the Chief Minister encouraged members to acknowledge constructive contributions and to address missteps directly.

“Let us call good what is good and wrong what is wrong,” he declared, calling for a culture of mutual respect and responsibility.

The Chief Minister said that many great personalities have been on the chair of the Speaker, all of them have been respectable for us. The Speaker is respectable for all of us. He is the head to run the House.

“Before making a lot of noise or making headlines one day, we should pay attention because the time of the House is very precious. We should think how every minute in the House can be useful. What can we do for the people of Rajasthan? What is our goodwill towards the person sitting in the last row, this House is to think about,” he added.

Sharma said that there was a big disruption in the House for a few days, on which many people said that the proceedings of the House should be adjourned further.

“However, I said that the House is not meant for adjournment. This is the House of the people of Rajasthan. The people of Rajasthan think that our public representatives care for us,” he claimed.

He said that we make many kinds of comments in the heat of the moment, which is not right. It is the responsibility of the members of both the ruling party and the opposition to ensure that the dignity of the House is maintained, he added.

In a final appeal, Sharma requested that the Speaker remove remarks made by a minister that did not meet the decorum expected in the Assembly. He emphasised that the House is a platform entrusted by the people, and its proceedings should always reflect their aspirations.

The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to the Leader of the Opposition and the Chief Whip for their efforts in ending the recent deadlock, reaffirming that bipartisan cooperation is key to achieving progress for Rajasthan.

Disbanding of unnatural INDIA bloc is not a surprise: Gourav Vallabh

New Delhi, Jan 10 (IANS) BJP leader Gourav Vallabh on Friday said INDIA bloc is an unnatural alliance, without any common ideology and agenda, and its disbanding is on expected lines.

Reacting to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s suggestion to wind up the INDIA bloc, Vallabh told IANS: “It is an alliance of people who are out on bail and which has been rejected by people. Therefore, winding up of the alliance is on expected lines.”

The regional parties in the alliance have push out a national party and this talks volumes about the state of affairs in the alliance, he said.

“The INDIA bloc never had a mandate, common philosophy or like-mindedness, they had come together due to their common hatred towards PM Narendra Modi,” he said, claiming that the decay in the Congress is one reason why regional parties are turning against it.

“He said the ill-treatment of Congress by regional parties is linked to the fact that statements are issued on its behalf by people who have never themselves fought a single election,” said Vallabh, junking Congress leader Pawan Khera’s statement that INDIA bloc was only meant to serve in Lok Sabha elections.

Slamming Arvind Kejriwal for accusing the BJP of manipulating voters’ list in the New Delhi Assembly constituency, Vallabh said the AAP leader’s allegations are baseless.

“I can give you in writing that Kejriwal is losing the Assembly election from New Delhi seat. This is the reason why he is making such wild allegations.”

As per my information, Kejriwal is also looking from a safe seat – with a high population of a particular community – as he is himself sure of losing from New Delhi seat, he said.

He also hit out at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for calling GST as “Grihasti Satyanash Tax.”

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the country the Good and Simple Tax. The Congress, earlier, had unsuccessfully tried to introduce this tax. The GST Council is regularly refining the tax provisions,” he said.

Vallabh said finance ministers of Congress-ruled states are also members of the GST Council and they are in agreement with the provisions and refinement of the tax.

The Congress president is saying something, and the party’s finance ministers are saying something else in the GST Council, I think the party needs to first introspect and take a uniform stand on the tax that has been accepted by the people as ‘good and simple tax’, he said.
