Hyderabad to be developed as top-notch hub for filmmaking: CM Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, Aug 18 (IANS) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has said that the state government will develop Hyderabad as a top-notch hub for filmmaking in the country soon.

The Chief Minister assured all kinds of support to promote the film industry in Hyderabad.

He stated this when the 71st National Film Award winners met CM Revanth Reddy at his residence on Monday.

During the meeting, the film producers brought to the attention of the Chief Minister the challenges being faced by the film industry in film production.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister felicitated the National Film Award winners – ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’ director Anil Ravipudi, ‘Hanu-Man’ director Prashanth Varma, ‘Hanu-Man’ visual effects team members Venkat and Srinivas, Fight Masters Nandu and Prithvi, ‘Baby’ director Sai Rajesh, and singer Rohit.

‘Hanu-Man’ producers Chaitanya Reddy, Niranjan Reddy, ‘Baby’ producer SKN, ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’ producer Garapati Sahu and others were present.

Tollywood bagged quite a few awards in the National Film Awards announced on August 1.

The state government already announced that it plans to develop Hyderabad as the capital of the Indian cinema industry.

In June, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who is the chairman of the Ministerial Sub-Committee on film industry development, directed the Information Department Commissioner and Film Development Corporation officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to develop Hyderabad as the capital of Indian cinema.

Deputy CM Bhatti stated that the government’s goal is to develop Hyderabad into a film city that attracts cinema professionals from across India and abroad.

He noted that at present, filmmakers in Telangana face significant hurdles in obtaining shooting permissions separately from multiple departments such as the police, fire services, and municipal bodies. The sub-committee decided to resolve this issue.

To streamline the process, the Deputy CM instructed officials to establish a single-window system under the Film Development Corporation by appointing a dedicated officer who can coordinate and secure approvals from all required departments swiftly.

Exercise ‘Sagar Kavach’ concludes along West Bengal coast

Kolkata, Feb 22 (IANS) A two-day exercise to test the coastal security mechanism in the state of West Bengal came to an end on Saturday. The exercise, named ‘Sagar Kavach’, was coordinated by the commander, Coast Guard Region North East, while the State Coastal Security Operation Centre (SCSOC) at Headquarters Coast Guard District No 8 was the nerve centre.

“During the exercise, the coastal security SOPs for the state were validated through a series of drills conducted across its 158 km long coastline. It witnessed simulated situations such as hijacking of fishing boats for landing of terrorists, smuggling of contraband, hijacking of barges, planting of IEDs and attacks on vital assets and vital points along the coast of West Bengal,” a senior Coast Guard official said.

He added that besides active sea and river patrolling by vessels of the Indian Coast Guard, Navy, West Bengal Police, CISF, BSF and Customs, coastal patrolling by district police and patrolling by the Forest Department was also undertaken.

He said that the fishermen’s watch groups at various locations were also activated as ‘Eyes and Ears’ of the security forces. Special operations conducted during the Exercise included operations by CISF and Quick Response Teams of the Coast Guard and police.

“The exercise also witnessed coordinated Sea and Air surveillance by the Coast Guard,” he said.

He further added that West Bengal has huge maritime assets along its 158 km coastline, which include 3.3 lakh fishermen operating over 16,000 fishing boats, two major ports, several river ports and jetties and a large number of coastal industries.

“Being a maritime border state with unique riverine geography, the entire coastline is porous and poses a major challenge for security agencies. Therefore, coordination is very important among all forces for the seaward security of the state. To address this issue and to validate coastal security mechanism, the mandate was issued by Central and State governments for conducting the Exercise jointly,” he added.

He spoke on how SOPs have to be validated from time to time and new strategies have to evolve, depending on happenings across the world.

“Terrorism, smuggling, illegal immigration, and poaching techniques are evolving and security forces have to stay at least a step ahead, he mentioned. The lessons learnt during the exercise will be deliberated at a higher level for further improvements in the coastal security mechanism and SOPs for the state, as well as to strengthen coordination between all agencies,” he said.

Gandhinagar residents back PM Modi’s ‘Swadeshi mantra’, vow to promote ‘Made in India’ products

Gandhinagar, New Delhi, May 27 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday participated in the 20th anniversary celebrations of the ‘Gujarat Urban Development’ programme, attended by hundreds and thousands of city residents.

Addressing the huge gathering of people, PM Modi gave the ‘Swadeshi’ mantra to residents and urged them to go for Vocal for Local, for making the country Atmanirbhar (self-reliant).

Those who heard the Prime Minister’s speech were left inspired and motivated as they vowed to become ‘active proponents’ of the Vocal for Local campaign.

Many of them, speaking to IANS, said that they will take the Vocal for Local campaign to every household and will persuade all to adopt Swadeshi instead of foreign goods.

Priyanka, a local, said, “We have learnt a lot from PM Modi’s address. He told us that if there are challenges in any work, we must not panic and keep pursuing that with complete honesty. We will definitely get success, one day.”

Another resident, Jigna, said that she strongly supports PM Modi’s decisions and policies.

“India is progressing rapidly. PM Modi has appealed to us to adopt indigenous things. We will take this message to every home,” she said.

Anita Bhanushali said, “We trust PM Modi’s policies more than ourselves. When there was tension between India and Pakistan, the atmosphere in Kutch was not good. But, we had faith in the PM that nothing would happen to us.”

Manisha Bhanushali said that PM Modi’s speech was awe-inspiring for us as he told us about the bravery of our forces and how they pulverised terrorists and their bases across the border.

“Vocal for Local is inspiring me a lot. We have pledged that from today onwards we will not use foreign goods but will use only indigenous goods,” said a local resident.

Notably, the Urban Development Year 2005 was launched as a flagship initiative in Gujarat by the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi, with the aim of transforming Gujarat’s urban landscape through planned infrastructure and better governance.

His spirit of service continues to inspire: PM Modi’s tributes to iconic statesman Vajpayee

New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tributes to former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary, hailing the iconic statesman’s spirit of service towards India’s progress, which he said continues to inspire the countrymen to build a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He was a statesman, poet, and writer from India who held the position of Prime Minister, initially for 13 days in 1996, then for 13 months from 1998 to 1999, and finally for a complete term from 1999 to 2004.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Remembering Atal Ji on his Punya Tithi. His dedication and spirit of service towards the all-round progress of India continue to inspire everyone in building a Viksit (developed) and Atmanirbhar (self-reliant) India.”

Vajpayee was the first Prime Minister since Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to have become Prime Minister of India with two-successive mandates.

A veteran Parliamentarian whose career stretched over four decades, Vajpayee was elected to the Lok Sabha (House of the People) nine times and to the Rajya Sabha (House of the States) twice, a record by itself.

As India’s Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, Chairperson of various important Standing Committees of Parliament and Leader of Opposition, he was an active participant in shaping India’s post-Independence domestic and foreign policy, according to the Prime Minister of India’s official website.

Vajpayee first encountered nationalist politics during his student days when he joined the Quit India Movement of 1942, which accelerated the end of British colonial rule.

As a political science and law student, Vajpayee cultivated a strong interest in foreign affairs during his college years. This enthusiasm was effectively utilised by the former External Affairs Minister while representing India at various multilateral and bilateral forums.

Vajpayee began his career in journalism, but it was cut short in 1951 when he joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Born into the family of a humble schoolteacher, Vajpayee became a leader respected for his liberal worldview and commitment to democratic ideals.
