Mangaluru: Subrahmanya Shashti, one of the most revered festivals in the coastal temple traditions, was celebrated with great devotion and splendour at the historic Shrimad Ananteshwar Temple in Manjeshwar on Wednesday.

Recognised as the Eighteenth Pete Temple of the Gowda Saraswat Samaj, the shrine witnessed an impressive turnout of devotees for the Brahma Rathotsava, a major highlight of the annual celebration.

The day began with grand rituals including Maha Pooja, Shata Kalashabhisheka and Gangabhisheka, offering prayers to the presiding deity. This was followed by a Yaga in the specially erected Yaga Mantapa in the divine presence of Bhadra Narasimha and Subramanya.

The Palanquin Utsava, where the idols were ceremoniously placed in a beautifully decorated golden Lala and carried by volunteers, captivated devotees and added colour to the festivities.

Later, after the Brahma Rath Pooja, the deity was mounted on the majestic chariot. As devotional chants filled the air and Mangala Aarti was offered, the Rathotsava procession rolled out amid a sea of worshippers.

Hundreds of devotees from Kerala, Karnataka, Mumbai, Gujarat, Delhi and overseas participated in the celebration, seeking blessings and marking the occasion with spiritual fervour.
