Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Faces ED Interrogation Over Alleged Army Land Sale

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is set to face questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today at 1 pm in connection with an alleged money laundering case related to the illegal sale and purchase of Army land. The CM has invited ED officials to his residence for the interrogation, responding to the 10th summon issued to him. Enhanced security measures have been implemented at the CM’s residence, Raj Bhavan, and the ED office, with approximately two thousand security forces deployed. Ranchi SDO Utkarsh Kumar has imposed prohibitory orders within a 100-meter radius of these locations, banning demonstrations and the carrying of traditional weapons.

This marks the second occasion that the ED has questioned Hemant Soren at his residence, following a previous interrogation on January 20, lasting about seven hours.

In parallel developments, on Tuesday, the Chief Minister convened two consecutive meetings with all MLAs from the ruling coalition government. His wife, Kalpana Soren, attended the first meeting, and the second legislative party meeting saw the presence of 43 MLAs, lasting for two hours. Notably, four JMM MLAs—Sita Soren, Ramdas Soren, Chamra Linda, and Lobin Hembram—were absent from the second meeting.
