Jagadish Shettar Open to Contesting LS Polls, Leaves Decision to BJP High Command

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who recently made the switch from Congress back to BJP, expressed his willingness to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if directed by the party high command.

In a statement to reporters, Shettar affirmed his readiness to vie for any parliamentary seat in the state, including the Dharwad constituency. He added that if not chosen as a candidate, he would continue his efforts for the party. However, he clarified that no party leader has approached him regarding the matter, and discussions in meetings have primarily focused on unity within the party.

Shettar’s statement holds significance, particularly regarding the Dharwad Parliamentary seat, currently held by Union Minister for Mines, Coal, and Law, Pralhad Joshi. With Shettar’s expressed openness to contest, it remains to be seen how the BJP high command will allocate candidacies for the forthcoming elections.
