‘Harry Potter’ sets early season 2 reboot

Los Angeles, May 7 (IANS) The ‘Harry Potter’ series already has its 2nd season approved even before the airing of its 1st season. The series is set to debut its first season this Christmas.

The news aligns with the network’s plan to adapt all seven of J.K. Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter’ books into seven seasons of television over the course of a decade, reports ‘Variety’.

The season 2 of the show, which will be based on the book ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’, will begin filming this fall.

As per ‘Variety’, Jon Brown, a writer on the first season of the adaptation, has been promoted to serve as co-showrunner on Season 2.

He joins current showrunner Francesca Gardiner, who said in a statement, “As we have laid out our plans for the overlapping production schedules to finish Season 1 by Christmas and to return to production for Season 2 this autumn, it has become clear that bringing on a co-showrunner is the key to maintaining our momentum. I’ve loved working with Jon from the very first day we met on ‘Succession’ through to these recent times together on ‘Harry Potter.’ Not only do I have huge admiration for his writing, but he’s also a brilliant collaborator and a lovely person. We are lucky to have him”.

“I’m incredibly excited to be collaborating with Francesca as co-showrunner. It has been a joy to write on ‘Philosopher’s Stone’ and I’d like to thank Francesca and HBO for putting their faith in me to continue this remarkable journey. Seems you’re never too old to get your invitation to Hogwarts”, they added.

Titled ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’, based on the U.K. version of the first ‘Harry Potter’ book’s title, season 1 begins with Harry’s (played by Dominic McLaughlin) 11th birthday, when he receives a letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which opens up a new world for him while also forcing him to face a dangerous enemy from his past.

Gardiner serves as executive producer alongside director Mark Mylod, Rowling; Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV; and David Heyman of Heyday Films. Warner Bros. Television is the studio.

Arjun took to Instagram, where he shared a video featuring highlights which included the shoot of the song “Gori Hai Kalaiyan”, the making of the movie and the promotions in various cities.

“Bas ab woh din door nahi hai! the entire journey from shooting the film to promotions and everything in between was an escapade!” Arjun wrote.

He revealed that it was a fun ride not only because he got to work with his friends.

“Not just coz I was working with my friends but also coz this film was just a laughter riot in itself! (sic)”

He shared that he is genuinely excited with the release of the movie, which hit the big screen on Friday.

“Mere Husband Ki Biwi” is about a Delhi professional, who navigates through a complicated love triangle when his old flame returns to his life just as he begins falling for someone new, leading to a series of comedic misunderstandings.

The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh and Bhumi Pednekar. “Mere Husband Ki Biwi” is directed by Mudassar Aziz, who has previously helmed movies such as “Dulha Mill Gaya”, “Happy Bhag Jayegi”, “Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi”, “Pati Patni Aur Woh” and “Khel Khel Mein.”

Ram Madhvani reacts to UK Member of Parliament’s demand for apology for Jallianwala Bagh Massacre

Mumbai, March 29 (IANS) Filmmaker Ram Madhvani has reacted to the recent demands of apology to India made by the Bob Blackman Member of Parliament of the United Kingdom.

Earlier, Bob urged the UK government to tender an official apology to India for the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre which happened during the Indian freedom struggle.

Ram is the director and co-writer of the historical fiction streaming show ‘The Waking of a Nation’, which dramatises the events that led up to the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.

Ram said, “UK Conservative MP for Harrow East, Bob Blackman, has rightly demanded a formal apology from the UK government on the anniversary of this horrific event. Yet, year after year, this debate is raised, and year after year, we see no movement. A formal apology from the British government, even after a century, is not just about acknowledging the past; it’s about actively participating in the healing process for the generations that remain affected”.

He further mentioned that too many lives were brutally extinguished, too many families irrevocably broken.

“A billion plus Indians still seek this long-overdue acknowledgement. It is never too late to do what is right. For India, for humanity, now is the time for that apology. The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre was an act of unspeakable horror, a stain on history that continues to resonate across generations. Bringing this event to screen with ‘The Waking of a Nation’ was an incredibly difficult process, demanding immense sensitivity to honor the lives lost”, he added.

The historical-fiction drama series, which streams on Sony LIV, delves into the tensions and catalysts behind this chapter in history. The show follows the story of Kantilal Sahni as he discovers a conspiracy rooted in colonialism and white supremacy. The show reimagines history through the lens of the Hunter Commission’s inquiry.

Chris Pratt: I was going to be Christo

Los Angeles, Jan 23 (IANS) Hollywood star Chris Pratt shared that he once seriously considered going by a stage name that honoured his time working for the shrimp company.

Appearing on the latest episode of Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Chris, whose real name is Christopher Michael Pratt, and worked as a waiter at the seafood chain’s Maui, Hawaii, restaurant, revealed: “I was going to be Christo. I had a name tag that said ‘Christopher’ – but this is at a Bubba Gump Shrimp Company.”

“But the P-H-E-R part got rubbed off, so it said Christo, and everyone called me Christo for a long time while I was working at Bubba Gump, high turnover rate, the new employees thought my name was Christo,” he added.

However, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star’s nickname did not catch on in Hollywood, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

The actor, whose first professional role was 2000’s short film Cursed Part 3, and came about after director Rae Dawn Chong, 64, discovered him at the restaurant, said: “As I navigated being discovered and brought to Los Angeles to follow my dreams, part of me thought in earnest, ‘Maybe I’d go by just Christo.'”

The actor, who lent his vocal prowess in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, then joked: “It’s never too late.”

Meanwhile, the Jurassic World star said artificial intelligence (AI) actors end his acting career, as he hit out against AI ‘actress’ Tilly Norwood.

The star told variety.com : “I don’t feel like someone’s going to replace me that’s AI. This Tilly Norwood thing, I think it’s all bulls***. I’ve never seen her in a movie, I don’t know who this b**** is. It’s all fake, until it’s something.”

In 2025, Tilly’s creator, Eline van der Velden, insisted that it had not been designed to replace humans, but is “a piece of art”.
