Preity Zinta says PBKS’ rollercoaster ride felt complete because of fans’ love during IPL 2026

Mumbai, May 28 (IANS) Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, who is the co-owner of the team and Punjab Kings, showcased gratitude to Punjab Kings’ supporters, saying the rollercoaster journey at IPL 2026 felt more wholesome because of the love and unwavering support received throughout the season.

She wrote on X: “A big thank you to all the supporters of PBKS for standing strong with us all through the rollercoaster ride of IPL 2026. From the highs to the lows & everything in between…. felt more wholesome with all of your love Till we meet again, all my love & best wishes #Ting.”

Punjab Kings had entered IPL 2026 as last year’s finalists and exited the league stage in fifth place with 15 points, one short of the playoff cut. As the season began, the team dominated the points table in the first half, winning their first six matches in a row.

On the acting front, Preity will be seen alongside Kunal Kemmu in the upcoming high-stakes action-comedy film “Vibe”.

Produced by Kunal Kemmu and Chirag Nihalani under the banner of Drongo Films, “Vibe” is expected to reach the audience on September 18 this year. The project marks the first venture for the production studio.

Joining the two, Sparsh Shrivastava will play a crucial role in the movie, alongside debutant Vanshika Dhir.

“Vibe” focuses on two inseparable friends whose ordinary lives suddenly turn into an unpredictable, high-energy adventure that pushes their survival instincts and friendship to the limit.

She will also be seen in “Lahore 1947”. Made under the direction of Rajkumar Santoshi, the project will see Sunny Deol as the protagonist, with Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh in key roles, along with others.

Backed by Aamir Khan, “Lahore 1947” has been set against the backdrop of the historical events surrounding the partition of India.

Subhash Ghai recalls ‘Kalicharan, Vishwanath’ days as he wishes Shatrughan Sinha on b’day

Mumbai, Dec 10 (IANS) Filmmaker Subhash Ghai marked Shatrughan Sinha’s 79th birthday with a warm tribute. He also took a stroll down memory lane and recalled working with the actor-turned-politician in films such as “Kalicharan” and “Vishwanath”.

Subhash took to Instagram, where he shared a picture featuring Shatrughan with wife Poonam, daughter Sonakshi and sons Luv and Kush.

“A very happy birthday today to my dearest friend SHATRUGHAN SINHA with whom I shared my journey since 1966 from ftii pune to struggling actors. I wrote my first story KHAN DOST for him n with raj kapoor n my first directorial film KALICHARAN. N VISHWANATH. (sic).”

Subash called Shatrughan his family and a “great human being.”

“Since then we are a family till date. A great actor a great human being. We all wish him a healthy n happy life always. A flash pic I still have of him in 80 s with his beautiful wife Poonam n lovely kids Sonakshi luv n Kush. #stay blessed always (sic).”

Kalicharan released in 1976. The action thriller film also stars Reena Roy, Premnath, Ajit, Madan Puri and Danny Denzongpa. The film became a box office hit. It was later remade into the Telugu film Khaidi Kalidasu, the Kannada film Kaalinga, the Tamil film Sangili and the Malayalam film Pathamudayam.

The film followed Prabhakar, an honest policeman,who is murdered by Din Dayal, a crime lord. Later, Khanna comes across Kalicharan who is Prabhakar’s lookalike and recruits him to defeat Din Dayal.

Meanwhile, Vishwanath hit the screens in 1978. The film was remade in Telugu as Lawyer Viswanath and in Tamil as Naan Mahaan Alla. It followed Vishwanath, an honest lawyer, who is framed and imprisoned due to a gangster. After his release, he sets out to seek revenge and ends up becoming a criminal.

‘NC24’: Naga Chaitanya’s next to be a mythological thriller

Mumbai, April 25 (IANS) Riding high on the success of “Thandel”, Naga Chaitanya has signed his next. The Tollywood actor will be stepping into the pan-India territory with the project touted to be a mythological thriller.

Tentatively titled “#NC24”, the film is being produced by BVSN Prasad. Made under the direction of Karthik Dandu, the movie is generating significant buzz for its ambitious scope and unique blend of action, mythology, and fantasy.

Sources close to the production revealed that “#NC24” boasts “a large canvas and some dynamic effects,” while remaining deeply rooted in Indian culture. The narrative reportedly weaves in references to historical periods like the Dark Ages and the Kalyuga, exploring themes of good versus evil and the fight against impending doom. The story revolves around a treasure hunter, an archaeologist, and a history student who team up to confront a looming prophecy tied to royal lineage and a potential apocalypse.

Chaitanya, confirming his involvement in the project, stated, “This film feels truly special. It’s a story that will transport audiences to another world while staying grounded in our own rich cultural heritage. I’m excited to be part of something so unique and ambitious.”

Chay added that he would wait for a while before revealing further details about the drama.

In another update, going by recent reports, Chaitanya will be returning to the web series genre once again, after the massive success of “Dhootha”.

If the reports are to be believed, Chay has joined forces with filmmaker and screenwriter Deva Katta, who has provided the dialogues for SS Rajamouli’s “SSMB29”. The maker is working on a web series named “Mayasabha”.

Katta shared a post on his X handle, revealing that “Mayasabha” Season 1 will have a total runtime of 400 minutes and is likely to be out by the last quarter of 2025.

Director Sudha Kongara calls Atharvaa Murali, Nimisha Sajayan’s DNA ‘A gem of a film’

Chennai, June 23 (IANS) National Award winning director Sudha Kongara, who is now at present directing Sivakarthikeyan’s eagerly awaited period film, ‘Parasakthi’, on Monday showered praises on director Nelson Venkatesan’s just released film DNA, calling it a “Gem of a film.”

Taking to her X timeline, Sudha admitted that she wept while watching the film.

She wrote, “Just saw a little gem of a film!! Fantastic writing as always (by) #nelsonvenkatesan and superb performances by @Atharvaamurali , #Nimishasajayan, #chetan, #Balajisakthivel and the paatti…oh my!!! Teared up and cheered with the audiences! A beauty -#DNA.”

The film, which released last Friday, has taken a strong opening thanks to good word-of-mouth publicity. As a result, there has been a significant increase in screens being allotted for the film, which has also got a thumbs up from reviewers across the board.

The crime drama thriller, which revolves around the theme of child trafficking, features Nimisha Sajayan as Divya and Atharavaa Murali as Anand — and the unexpected challenges they have to face.

Atharvaa, during the course of his speech at the audio launch of the film, had said, “As far as DNA is concerned, even before Nelson sir came and narrated the script to me, the film’s producer Ambeth sir told a line to me over the phone. I was excited because I have watched Nelson sir’s films. At a time when fast paced films were being made, here was a director who would pause and take time to express the emotions in a film.

“I was excited about what Nelson sir had in mind. He told me the film’s title was DNA. I immediately thought that this film would be science fiction and so on but I liked what he said about the title next. He said, ‘DNA will be a story about Divya and Anand.’

“Nimisha plays Divya’s character and I play Anand’s character in the film. Director Nelson Venkatesan has a beautiful mind. Anybody can write a story but not everybody can write characters. Nelson writes beautiful characters. So, when we went to the sets, we had so much clarity that we were only looking to improvise. There was never any confusion on what had to be done,” Atharvaa said.

The film, which has background score by Ghibran and songs by five new music directors, hit screens on June 20.
