Rekha: ‘Umrao Jaan’ has never left me

Mumbai, March 5 (IANS) Actress Geetanjali Mishra has bid an emotional farewell to the popular comedy show Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, marking the end of what she described as a memorable chapter in her career.

Reflecting on the journey on Instagram, the actress said that stepping away from crime, drama and conspiracy-driven roles and moving into comedy began nearly two-and-a-half years ago with Tulsi Pujan, and has now concluded with Holika Dahan.

She first wrote in Hindi: “Alvida – Happu Ki Ultan Paltan Crime, drama aur shadayantra ki duniya se nikal kar comedy tak ka safar aaj se lagbhag dhai saal pehle Tulsi Pujan ke saath shuru hua tha, aur aaj Holika Dahan ke saath is safar ka samapan ho gaya. (Stepping out of the world of crime, drama, and conspiracy, the journey into comedy began around two-and-a-half years ago with Tulsi Pujan. Today, with Holika Dahan, this journey has come to an end.)”

Expressing gratitude, Geetanjali thanked the audience for embracing the show and her character, adding that the love, appreciation, criticism and celebrations from viewers made the journey meaningful.

She added: “A big thanks from the bottom of my heart and my art to my lovely audience, viewers for accepting,appreciating criticising and celebrating this journey with me. Finally this segment of my journey with ‘Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’ ends here.”

She also extended her thanks to the producers, channel, director, director of photography, technical crew, support staff and her co-actors.

“Thank you Producers, Channel, Director, DOP, entire technical and support staff as well as all my co-actors for being really supportive and ensuring a fabulous team work. So finally show wrapped up… Every show has its finale so wo ho gaya…”

The actress gave a special mention to director Ritwik Mukherjee, calling him “the coolest director” and praising his ability to bring out the strengths of actors while turning their weaknesses into strengths.

Happu Ki Ultan Paltan is a spin-off of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!. Apart from the character Happu Singh, the show features his mother, wife and nine children. It follows Happu Singh a corrupt police officer in the city of Kanpur.

The story revolves around the misadventures of Happu Singh and his large family- his wife; Rajesh Singh, mother Katori and his nine children.

Mumbai, July 27 (IANS) Bollywood actor Sunny Deol, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Batwara 1947’, has shared a heartwarming post with his mother Prakash Kaur.

On Monday, the actor took to his Instagram, and shared a picture with his mother. He wrote in the caption, “Meri Maa hi mera Rab hain. Mera pyaar, mera hausla, meri taaqat. Batwara 1947 main apni Maa aur duniya ki har Maa ko samarpit karta hoon (My mother is my God. My love, my courage, my strength. I dedicate the partition of 1947 to my mother and every mother in the world). Trailer out tomorrow”.

The film is one of the most anticipated releases of the year, and is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. It also stars Shabana Azmi, Sunny Deol, Preity G Zinta, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh. ‘Batwara 1947’ promises an emotional and deeply moving story that explores the human cost of the tragedy while celebrating love, courage, sacrifice and resilience in the face of unimaginable adversity.

The film is set against the backdrop of one of the most defining chapters in India’s history, the film revisits the turbulent 1940s, when the Partition changed the lives of millions forever. Amidst fear, loss, and displacement, it tells the inspiring story of a man who chose courage and humanity over hatred.

The film captures hope and resilience that emerged during one of history’s most turbulent chapters. The story has reportedly remained banned in Pakistan, and it adds another layer to the film, making it one of the most intriguing historical releases to look forward to. The film also reunites the dream team of Aamir Khan, A. R. Rahman, and Javed Akhtar, who have worked on the cult-classic ‘Lagaan’. It also marks the much-awaited reunion of Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol after nearly three decades.

The film is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit and is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.

Los Angeles, July 15 (IANS) Actress-singer Suki Waterhouse recently had a painful experience. The actress hasn’t been very active on X, formerly Twitter, over the last few months. Sharing the unique reason behind her disappearance from X, the actress revealed that she wasn’t keeping well, and even had to visit the hospital.

“‘Suki you never tweet anymore’ have you ever considered I wore pants so tight 6 months ago it caused a hernia & I’ve been too scared to tell you”, she wrote on the platform.

The post featured two photos, including Waterhouse lying in a hospital bed in a gown and with what appeared to be a cannula in her arm, reports ‘People’ magazine.

The selfie also showed Waterhouse wearing a hospital wristband, white earphones and a vape lying on her chest. The second photo saw the artist posing beneath green foliage and a giant disco ball while wearing a pair of tight, dark green pants.

As per ‘People’, the snap appeared to have been during the singer’s Sparklemuffin Tour in North America, which she embarked on in September 2024 and wrapped in December to celebrate the release of her second studio album, ‘Memoir of a Sparklemuffin’.

Shortly before the tour, the ‘Dream Woman’ singer also opened for Taylor Swift on one of her Eras Tour stops in her hometown of London. Waterhouse’s tour was followed by three-night residency at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles in March. According to the Mayo Clinic, an “inguinal hernia occurs when tissue, such as part of the intestine, protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. The resulting bulge can be painful, especially when you cough, bend over or lift a heavy object”.

Waterhouse’s hospital trip comes after she welcomed her first child into the world with her fiance Robert Pattinson in March 2024.
