Kapil Sharma returns with The Great Indian Kapil Show S5, Ajay Devgn to grace opening episode with Drishyam cast

Mumbai, Sep 25 (IANS) Bollywood star comedian Kapil Sharma is set to return to Netflix with The Great Indian Kapil Show as the show opens its fifth season.

The show will be seen opening with the cast of the much-awaited thriller Drishyam: The Conclusion.

The season premiere, airing on September 26 at 8 pm, will see Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Jaideep Ahlawat, along with director Abhishek Pathak, join Kapil Sharma for an evening of laughter and candid conversations.

The episode marks the return of Ajay to the Kapil Sharma-hosted comedy show as he gears up for the theatrical release of the third and final instalment of the Hindi Drishyam franchise.

The episode will see Jaideep Ahlawat shaking a leg with Sona and Mona 2.0, the revived Krushna Abhishek-Kiku Sharda duo, while Sunil Grover will be seen adding to the fun with his Ajay Devgn mimicry.

The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 5 returns after a six-month break, with Kapil Sharma leading the comedy ensemble featuring Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Archana Puran Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu. New episodes will stream every Saturday at 8 pm on Netflix.

Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn is returning as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam: The Conclusion. The film, directed by Abhishek Pathak, also stars Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film is set for a theatrical release on October 2, 2026.

The film has also generated curiosity because it takes a different route from the Malayalam Drishyam 3 starring Mohanlal.

At the trailer launch held in Goa on September 9, Abhishek Pathak clarified that the Hindi film is based on a completely different script, developed over around two-and-a-half years, and does not follow the story of the Malayalam third instalment.

He wrote, “Happy Birthday to My little princess Ziana As you turn 4 today, may God bless you with good health. May you do very well in your studies & most importantly make good & positive friends of your age group. May you always be protected from evil eyes at all times. Love you.” For the uninitiated, Rajeev Sen and Charu Asopa officially got divorced last year, and since then the couple have been staying apart, in different states.

The exes only reunite for the sake of their daughter and are into a co-parenting settlement. The two have recently reunited for Ganpati celebrations at Charu’s new house in Bikaner. The couple had taken a luxurious vacation to Thailand post-Ganpati to spend some time with their daughter as parents. For the uninitiated, Charu and Rajiv have had a series of mudslinging, and their divorce was quite public and bitter.

The couple got married after dating for a few months in 2019, but the relationship started to develop cracks soon after. Rajeev is the brother of Bollywood superstar Sushmita Sen.

Anupam Kher on President watching ‘Tanvi The Great’: She’s the epitome of different but no less

New Delhi, July 11 (IANS) Veteran star and filmmaker Anupam Kher is excited to showcase his upcoming film “Tanvi The Great” to the President of India Droupadi Murmu on Friday and said that she’s the epitome of different but no less.

Talking to IANS about the special screening for the President, Anupam shared: “We are very excited because I think the President is the epitome of different but no less. I mean, where has she come from? And today, she has the biggest seat in our country and has such a big stature. I think this is so amazing.”

The President will be watching the film at a special screening held at the esteemed Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre (RBCC). The others present at the screening will be debutant Shubhangi playing Tanvi, Karan Tacker, Boman Irani, the co-writers Ankur and Abhishek, and the technical members of the film.

The film boasts of powerhouse performers from Indian and International Cinema such as Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, Nasser, with Anupam Kher and Iain Glen.

The film also has two Oscar winners, the music director M.M. Keeravani and sound designer Resul Pookutty. The cinematographer of the film is Keiko Nakahara from Japan.

Tanvi The Great is produced by Anupam Kher Studios in association with NFDC. The global distribution is handled by Excel Entertainment led by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar and AA Films, led by Anil Thadani. Tanvi The Great hits cinemas worldwide on July 18.

The film follows Tanvi Raina, a 21-year-old woman on the autism spectrum, who lives with her mother Vidya and grandfather Colonel Pratap Raina.

Inspired by her deceased father, Captain Samar Raina, an Indian Army officer who dreamed of saluting the flag at Siachen Glacier, Tanvi becomes determined to follow in his footsteps and join the army to fulfill his dream herself.

Arjun Kapoor says he wants to be a ‘bathroom singer’

Mumbai, May 19 (IANS) Actor Arjun Kapoor said that he has decided he wants to be a “bathroom singer” and revealed that his favourite song these days is “Mama Told Me” from the 2005 film “Ek Ajnabee.”

Arjun took to Instagram, where he shared a video, where the actor and his sister Anshula are sitting and discussing music. He captioned the post: “This playlist’s got no genre… just JAZBAAT! What’s weirdest combo on your playlist right now? (sic)”

In the clip, the actor said: “I decide I want to be a bathroom singer.”

To which his sister Anshula said: “There are portable speakers in every size in this house.”

Arjun then started scrolling through his playlist to look for the “last pop song” he heard and said that Sabrina Carpenter “does not count.”

Scrolling deep into the playlist, Arjun said: “I’m just trying to see how terrible my music is. Trying to find the one correct song that I want the world to know.”

Looking into the phone, Arjun said “Aaya Re Toofaan” from the Vicky Kaushal-starrer “Chaava”.

Anshula quipped: “Whose music taste is all over the place.”

The actor then said he had “Gori hai kalaiyaan, Baby John, then suddenly Dooriya showed up in between 2007 from Love Aajkal.”

“I’ve reached Nain matakka, Dua Lipa. I’ve found everything. Bruno Mars,” he added.

Anshula asked “What do you remember about the song?”

To which, Arjun said: “Oh my favourite song these days is… If I tell you, you guys will… ‘Mama Told Me Dont Be Talking Toh Stranger Dont Be Talking Toh Stranger Stranger Is Danger’.

“But I can’t find that one English song that I like. Because I don’t know the name.”

Anshula revealed that Arjun Kapoor’s best friend is Chatgpt and he should use it to help him remember the song name.

“Ah, bar song, see. Randomly, I like these songs. Maroon 5, I love (sic). It’s a lot of fun,” Arjun replied, to which Anshula on a hilarious note ended the video by saying: “He’s into classics now.”
