Aamir Khan says Alvira shares positive updates on Salim Khan’s health

Mumbai, Feb 26 (IANS) Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan shared that Salman Khan’s sister Alvira has been giving him regular updates about veteran lyricist and screenwriter Salim Khan’s health, assuring that the veteran screenwriter is showing signs of improvement.

The actor, who recently went to check on Salim Khan after he was admitted to the ICU, said the family remains hopeful and continues to pray for his speedy recovery and return home.

Aamir told reporters, “I went to meet Mr. Salim. We are all praying that his health gets better soon because he was in ICU, I couldn’t meet him personally, but I was with his family.”

“Alvira is telling me every day that his health is improving. We are all praying that he comes home soon and his health improves,” he added.

It was on February 17, when Salim Khan was admitted to the hospital in Mumbai and was taken to the ICU.

Salim Khan’s treating doctor, Jalil Parkar had issued a statement, giving an update on the veteran screenwriter’s health.

He had said, “Yes it’s true that Salim Khan (father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan) & an icon in himself has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital under Dr Jalil Parkar in the ICU early morning at 8:30 am. He was brought into the emergency by their family doctor Sandeep Chopra”.

“Emergency care was initiated in the emergency, and Mr Salim Khan was shifted to the intensive care on the 1st floor. A team of doctors consisting of Dr Vinay Chavan(neurologist),Dr Ajit Menon(cardiologist) & Dr Nitin Dange (neurosurgeon) & Dr Bineet Ahluwalia attended to him. Respecting the relative’s request further details ain’t being shared today”.

“However, tomorrow at 11:00 am, we shall be addressing a press bulletin with due consent of the relatives & maintaining the confidentiality of the patient to the utmost. Kindly bear with us.he is stable but is under close observation in regards to his clinical status”, he added.

It was in the late 1960s, Salim Khan partnered with Javed Akhtar, forming Salim–Javed, one of the most influential screenwriting teams in Indian cinema.

They wrote a series of commercially successful and culturally influential films, including ‘Andaz’, ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’, ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Yaadon Ki Baaraat’, ‘Deewaar’, ‘Sholay’, ‘Trishul’, ‘Don’, and ‘Kaala Patthar’.

The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to take place in Goa from November 20 to 28, 2025. The curtain-raiser highlights an extensive and diverse programme: more than 240+ films from 81 countries, 13 world premieres, 4 international premieres, and 46 Asian premieres.

The opening film of IFFI 2025 is “The Blue Trail,” a sci-fi fantasy drama by acclaimed Brazilian filmmaker Gabriel Mascaro. The Gala Premieres segment will present 18 titles, including 13 World Premieres, 2 Asia Premieres, 1 India Premiere, and 2 Special Showcase screenings. The red carpet will welcome a distinguished line-up of artists and filmmakers.

IFFI 2025 will celebrate centenaries and honour legendary filmmakers Guru Dutt, Raj Khosla, Ritwik Ghatak, P. Bhanumathi, Bhupen Hazarika, and Salil Chowdhury by showcasing their masterpieces.

Shriya Pilgaonkar becomes jury member of All Living Things Environmental Film Festival

Mumbai, Oct 16 (IANS) Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar and filmmaker Pan Nalin have joined as hury members of the 6th edition of All Living Things Environmental Film Festival, which will take place from December 4.

Talking about joining the jury, Shriya told IANS: “Being part of ALT EFF this year feels deeply meaningful. As artists, we often talk about the power of cinema to connect people, but what I admire about this festival is how it channels that power into awareness and empathy that can lead to real change. The environment isn’t some distant issue; it’s part of our daily lives, our health, our future.”

“ALT EFF is a beautiful reminder of how stories can open minds and inspire responsibility for the world we share. Watching some incredible films through this process has already been such a learning and humbling experience,” she added.

The 11-day festival will bring the curtains down on December 14. It will open in Mumbai on December 4 and will showcase a powerful lineup of feature films, documentaries, short films, and student films from India and around the world, spotlighting themes of environment, sustainability, preservation, and climate change.

Filmmaker Pan Nalin, known for acclaimed works like Samsara and The Last Film Show, told IANS: “The environment has always been at the core of my storytelling. How is Ektaa Kapoor surviving the apocalyptic air of Mumbai?

Mumbai, Feb 1 (IANS) Producer Ektaa Kapoor, whose female led film ‘Crew’ received a great response earlier this year, is trying to stay afloat amidst the alarming air quality in the Maximum city.

The producer recently took to the Stories section of Instagram, and shared a video of herself inhaling the hydrogen. Hydrogen Inhalation Therapy (HIT) has emerged as a promising strategy to counteract oxidative stress, and inflammation.

Of late, the city has witnessed a spike in diseases arising out of the apocalyptic air quality. The emissions from the slow-moving vehicular traffic, owing to widespread civil works and construction, have coupled with the suspended particles from the constructions across the city.

Earlier, Ektaa heaped praise on Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan for what she brings to the table with an experience of over 2 decades.

Meanwhile, Ektaa, who is the daughter of actor Jeetendra, is considered one of the biggest icons of the television industry. She started her career at the age of 17, interning with advertisement and feature filmmaker Kailash Surendranath.

Her daily soaps changed the course of television bringing in a different style of storytelling focusing on family dramas which catered to a large chunk of population making her ventures exceedingly profitable.

She is the recipient of Padma Shri, India’s 4th highest civilian honour, and also boasts of an International Emmy Directorate Award which she was feted with at the 51st edition of International Emmy Awards.
