Alliance University to hold 14th convocation on Dec 20

Bhopal, July 1 (IANS) The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, on Tuesday, approved a series of major development initiatives aimed at strengthening infrastructure, education, and rural livelihoods across the state.

In a significant move, the Cabinet cleared the establishment of a campus of Defence University — Rashtriya Raksha Vishwavidyalaya (RRU) in Bhopal. The Gujarat-based national security and policing university will be allotted 10 acres of land within the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV) campus.

Until its permanent infrastructure is developed, RRU will operate from existing RGPV facilities. The state government has committed Rs 1.05 crore annually for three years to support the university’s establishment.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla said the institute will enhance employment opportunities and skill development in national security for youth in Madhya Pradesh, while also boosting the state’s standing in higher education.

The Cabinet also approved Rs 4,572 crore for the repair and reconstruction of 1,766 damaged bridges under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). These bridges, built to improve rural connectivity, have deteriorated over time, affecting transportation and access in several regions. The Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Authority will oversee the repair work.

Another key decision was the launch of the Vrindavan Gram Yojana, under which one model village will be developed in each of the state’s 230 assembly constituencies.

These ‘Vrindavan Villages’ will be equipped with 27 development standards, including basic amenities, sustainable infrastructure, and community services. Additionally, the Cabinet okayed the “Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam” scheme, aimed at promoting women-led horticulture and environmental sustainability.

Under this initiative, 30,000 women from self-help groups will plant 30 lakh fruit-bearing plants across 30,000 acres of land. The state will invest Rs 900 crore in the project, which includes financial support for saplings, fertilisers, fencing, irrigation, and training.

The plantation drive, aligned with the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, will run from July 1 to September 15, with participation from multiple departments including Panchayat and Rural Development, Urban Development, Forest, and Horticulture.

Agartala, Jan 26 (IANS) Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Sunday said that the state successfully resolved the decades-old insurgency issues last year.

Unfurling the national flag at the Republic Day’s main function at Assam Rifles ground, the Governor said on September 5 last year, the Union and Tripura governments signed a Memorandum of Settlement with the National Liberation Front of Tripura and the All-Tripura Tiger Force, disbanding these groups and bringing peace.

He said a landmark step was taken towards peace and development in Tripura by signing March 2, 2024, a historic tripartite agreement between the government of India, the Tripura government and the Tipra Motha Party.

“This agreement promises to address issues related to the indigenous people of Tripura,” the Governor pointed out.

Reddy Nallu said that the state faced severe floods and landslides during August last year, due to unprecedented rainfall claiming 38 lives. Around 3.7 lakh people were evacuated during the monsoon flood, he said. Noting that in agriculture under “Pradhan Mantri Fasal BimaYojana,” Rs 32.93 crore was contributed, the Governor said that through PM-KISAN Rs 790.53 crore was credited to 2.76 lakh farmers’ bank accounts.

Under the National Mission for Edible Oils, 1,878 hectares were brought under oil palm cultivation, benefiting 1,861 farmers, he said.

The Governor said that the state government has included 27 additional schools under the coverage of Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India during the year 2024-25, and infrastructure development has been a priority.

He told the gathering that the Union government has sanctioned Rs 2,800 crore for key road projects in Tripura, including the Agartala Eastern Bypass and the Amtali to Tripura Sundari Temple road, improving connectivity across the state.

“The state government achieved a milestone by securing 7 awards under the National Panchayat Awards-2024. Tripura government plans to set up 111 additional model villages under the Chief Minister Model Village Scheme.”

The Governor said that the state is also implementing the “North Eastern Regional Power System Improvement Project” through the World Bank-funded project with an investment of Rs 1,800 crore for developing a robust power transmission network in the state.

To increase the tourism prospects of Tripura, the state government has inaugurated a host of projects to boost tourist attractiveness, he stated.

Reddy Nallu said that the Tripura government has achieved commendable success in improving the law and order situation in the state.

The state government has initiated the recruitment process for 916 constables and 218 sub-inspectors, providing jobs to unemployed youth in the state, he said adding that apart from these, enlistment of 6,067 Special Executives in the Police Department is in the process.

The state of Tripura should be made a drug-free, clean state, the Governor reiterated.

The 76th Republic Day was celebrated across Tripura through numerous functions and events.

New Delhi, March 5 (IANS) Establishing day-care cancer centres and ramping up digital health infrastructure can ensure that quality care reaches the last mile, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

Speaking at a post-budget webinar held via video conferencing today, the Prime Minister stressed the need to implement health initiatives announced in the Union Budget to ensure that the benefits reach the maximum number of people.

“The establishment of daycare cancer centers and the development of digital healthcare infrastructure will ensure quality healthcare reaches the last mile,” the PM said.

In the Union Budget, the Finance Minister had announced that “all district hospitals will have day care cancer centres. About 200 day care cancer centres will be established in 2025-26″.

Further, PM Modi noted that “telemedicine facility is being expanded in all primary health centres (PHCs)”.

As per the health ministry data, more than 31,000 PHCs are operational in the country, employing over 40,000 doctors/medical officers to provide primary care to people in rural and hilly, tribal, and desert areas.

PM Modi also mentioned that the addition of 10,000 new medical seats in this budget and a target of adding 75,000 seats in the medical field over the next five years “has been set”.

“These initiatives will have a transformative impact on people’s lives,” he said, adding that it will also “create numerous new employment opportunities for youth”.

The Prime Minister also stressed that initiatives like ‘Heal in India’, proposed in the Union Budget, will boost medical tourism in the country,

“Efforts are being made to establish India as a global tourism and wellness hub,” he said, while urging stakeholders in the health sector to invest in promoting health tourism.

PM Modi also highlighted the “need to fully utilise the potential of yoga and wellness tourism”.

He stated that the tourism sector has the potential to contribute up to 10 per cent of India’s GDP and create employment opportunities for crores of youth.
