Arms and Ammunition Seized, Two Arrested in J&K’s Sopore

Srinagar: In a significant development, two individuals have been apprehended and a cache of arms and ammunition was discovered on Friday from a clandestine hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore area.

A statement issued by the police revealed that, in connection with FIR number 370/2023 at Police Station Sopore, several suspects were summoned for interrogation, leading to actionable intelligence.

Following this lead, a joint operation involving Sopore Police, the Army, and CRPF was launched, culminating in the search of a residence belonging to Abdul Rashid Najar in Tarzoo, Sopore. During the search, authorities uncovered a concealed concrete hideout within Najar’s home, where a substantial quantity of arms and ammunition, including IEDs, a pistol, pistol magazines, live rounds, and other potentially incriminating electronic devices, were seized.

Abdul Rashid Najar was subsequently arrested. Further investigations based on his disclosure revealed the involvement of another individual, Abdul Jameel Larah from Sopore, in similar subversive activities.
