Asif Ali Zardari Re-elected as Pakistan’s 14th President

Islamabad: Asif Ali Zardari, the co-chairperson of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has secured a second term as Pakistan’s 14th President. Zardari’s victory marks his return to the position of head of state.

He stood as the joint candidate of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the presidential election. His opponent, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, represented the Sunni Ittehad Council.

Zardari’s election victory was resounding, garnering 255 votes in the National Assembly and the Senate combined, while his rival received 119 votes. This outcome underscores Zardari’s continued political influence and support within the country.
