Bharat Rashtra Samithi Faces Setback as Four Leaders Defect to BJP

New Delhi: In a significant blow to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, four prominent leaders of the party made a decisive switch to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the national capital on Sunday.

Former Members of Parliament Sitaram Naik and Godam Nagesh, along with former legislators S. Saidi Reddy and Jalgam Venkat Rao, formally joined the BJP at the party headquarters in Delhi. The ceremony was attended by BJP general secretary and Telangana in-charge, Tarun Chugh.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, who also serves as the Telangana unit BJP president, personally extended the invitation to Sitaram Naik during his visit to Hanamkonda on Friday, following Naik’s discontent with the BRS leadership’s decision to deny him a ticket from Mahabubabad constituency, opting instead to field sitting MP Maloth Kavitha.

Reports suggest that the BJP has assured Naik of fielding him from Mahabubabad in the upcoming elections. Similarly, Nagesh is anticipated to contest from Adilabad, potentially replacing sitting MP Soyam Bapu Rao, whom he lost to in the 2019 elections.
