Bengaluru: Tejasvi Surya, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament representing Bengaluru South constituency, has issued a stern warning to the Siddaramaiah-led state government, threatening protests if the pressing issue of the water crisis in the state capital is not swiftly resolved.
Following a meeting with Ram Prasath Manohar V, the chairman of the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), Surya emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that failure to address the water crisis within a week would prompt the Karnataka BJP to organize protests at Vidhana Soudha.
Expressing dismay at the government’s alleged neglect, Surya remarked, “The government, despite being aware of the impending crisis, failed to implement precautionary measures. Consequently, the people of Bengaluru are now grappling with a severe water shortage, highlighting the decision-makers’ neglect and irresponsibility towards the city.”
Proposing practical solutions to mitigate the crisis, Surya advocated for the utilization of treated water for non-potable purposes, redistribution of drinking water to areas facing acute stress, consultation with geologists for identifying suitable locations for new borewells, and efficient management of water tanker distribution.
Highlighting the worsening situation, Surya cited instances of apartments and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) exhausting their water supply, with even the Chief Minister’s Office resorting to water tanker services to meet their needs.
In a firm ultimatum, Surya declared, “If these corrective measures are not implemented within one week, the BJP will lead protests outside Vidhana Soudha, demanding the government’s immediate action to address the critical needs of the people.”
Congress has failed the citizens of Bengaluru.
City's water crisis has been been neglected with unscientific remedial measures being taken in the eleventh hour.
Met BWSSB Chairman yesterday & proposed scientific solutions to address the crisis on a war footing.
