Mohit Malik explains why Manoj Pahwa became hostile towards him on a shoot

Mumbai, March 29 (IANS) Actor Mohit Malik was perplexed on a particular day of shoot on the sets of ‘Chamak: The Conclusion’ when senior actor Manoj Pahwa suddenly became hostile towards him. It struck him much later that the veteran was doing it for the sake of his character in the show.

Mohit shared his enriching experience of working alongside Manoj Pahwa, and how the senior actor’s experience became a source of knowledge for him The two actors play pivotal roles in the musical thriller, with Mohit Malik portraying the character of Guru Deol, the son of Manoj Pahwa’s character, Pratap Deol.

Talking about the guidance Mohit Malik received from Manoj Pahwa during the shooting, he said, “Working with Manoj Pahwa sahab was nothing short of a dream come true. It was a memorable experience to share the screen with someone of his caliber, whose every expression and gesture carries years of experience. He didn’t just guide me, he brought out the best in me by just subtle improvisations that transformed the entire scene making it so impactful. I remember, on the very first day of our shoot Manoj sahab became very hostile towards me”.

The actor admitted to being confused but he eventually understood the reason behind Manoj’s behaviour.

He added, “At first I was confused and couldn’t understand the change in behaviour as we shared a great bond. It only then struck me that it was the demand of the character dynamics in the show and the slight change in behaviour eased me into my character. Manoj Sir lives his character and when he comes on the set he comes prepared to play it. That’s the magic of working with an artist like him. Every day on set was a masterclass, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the chance to learn from him firsthand”.

The bond between Mohit Malik and Manoj Pahwa is evident in their on-screen chemistry, which adds depth to the narrative of ‘Chamak: The Conclusion’ As the story unfolds, the father-son duo finds themselves embroiled in a bitter power struggle, with their relationships being put to the test.

Created & Directed by Rohit Jugraj, the series is produced by Geetanjali Mehelwa Chauhan, Rohit Jugraj, and Sumeet Dubey. It also stars Paramvir Singh Cheema, Gippy Garewal in a special appearance, Isha Talwar, Mukesh Chhabra, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Suvinder (Vicky) Pal, and Akasa Singh.

Aaditi Pohankar: I never change the lines given by writers

Mumbai, March 29 (IANS) Actress Aaditi Pohankar believes in maintaining the sanctity of the script. The actress, who shot to fame with her character in the hit streaming show ‘Aashram’, has said that the improvises only on the emotions of her character should a need arise.

The actress spoke with IANS about her process of approaching a part, and sticking by the script. She said that she doesn’t even change the words in her lines. The reason behind the same is that her own sister is a writer so, the actress has the sense of what goes on a writers’ minds when they write a dialogue, and how they intend the actor to speak those lines.

The actress told IANS, “Everything is there in the script. I, in fact, don’t even move words from the scene. If I am told that I have to improvise, then I improvise with emotion. I never improvise with lines. Because my sister is a writer, I have seen her. So if something is written, it is written for a reason. It’s not just written. And even if it changes, even then I feel that the flow of emotion may break. This is just my opinion. I am sure people do it in many ways”.

She said that for an actor there are many ways to switch between the emotions, as she shared, “If you go from fear to laughter, if you go from fear to laughter, there are many ways to do it. And that’s what I do. And what happens with that is I see every script as an exercise. Because it teaches me more”.

“So it’s like, the show is going on, the scenes are going on, I am also moving forward as an actor. To learn from Prakash sir and Bobby sir is such an advantage because their years of experience becomes my experience. So I am automatically stealing a lot from them”, she added.

Jennifer Winget on how to impress a date: By having a very interesting conversation

Mumbai, March 29 (IANS) Renowned television actress Jennifer Winget believes having an interesting conversation can help in impressing her date.

Asked how she impresses the person she’s going on a date with, Jennifer told IANS: “By having a very interesting conversation.”

The actress was at the Magnum lounge at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week, revealed the biggest fashion mistakes she has ever made and the outfit she regrets.

Jennifer said: “So many of them. Especially early in my career, I had no idea what I was doing with my make-up, with my clothes. I was just kind of, but that’s how you learn, right? I don’t remember any one particular outfit, but man, I’ve made mistakes.”

How would she describe your fashion style from before to now?

“I didn’t really have that much style, but I think over a period of years, you know, you watch and you learn and you grow, and I think now I’m more into sustainable chic, and I try to keep it as minimalistic as possible,” said the actress.

The actress said that she loves “vintage” fashion.

When it comes to fashion, her on screen persona has no effect on her personal choices.

“When I’m playing a character, it’s the character’s outfit, not Jennifer’s outfit. If I’m playing a lawyer, I have to dress accordingly, but I don’t dress like that in real life. Although, you know, there are some, sometimes there are similarities, but mostly they’re very different from each other.”

Jennifer, who is one of highest-paid television actresses, started her career as a child actor with the 1995 film Akele Hum Akele Tum and made her TV debut in 2002 with Shaka Laka Boom Boom.

She gained recognition for her roles in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Sangam and Dill Mill Gayye. Winget established herself as an actress with her portrayal of Kumud Sundari Desai in Saraswatichandra, Maya Mehrotra in the psychological thriller series Beyhadh and Zoya Siddiqui in romantic drama series Bepannah.

Madonna rocks new shimmery ‘mouth jewellery’

Los Angeles, March 29 (IANS) Singing legend Madonna has a new piece of jewellery, and she’s proudly flaunting it. The pop icon, 66, joined in the fun of a recent TikTok trend and posted a short video to the platform.

In the video, she lip-synced to the trending audio of rapper That Mexican OT’s song ‘Hardest Ese Ever’, and then pointed to her mouth to show off her lapis-and-diamond grills, reports ‘People’ magazine.

The ‘Material Girl’ singer didn’t caption the post, but several fans shared their astonishment of her grills. “Damn Madonna????? You didn’t have to stunt this hard??”, one TikTok user wrote in the comments section.

“That definitely costs more than my car”, another commented. One user added, “I never thought I’d see Madonna do a trend with a Mexican OT song the future really is now”.

As per ‘People’, this isn’t the first time the singer showed off her grills. In August 2022, she unveiled the jewelry while on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’.

At the time, she explained to Fallon that she actually designed the accessory herself for her 64th birthday, calling them her “birthday grills”.

The jewellery she showed off at the time appears to be the same she wore in the recent video.

She also told Fallon, 50, that people don’t like her grills and she doesn’t know why.

“Why? You have been wearing them for a while”, he said. To which Madonna replied, “Decades”, adding, “I just like the way it looks, it’s mouth jewellery, and I have really ugly teeth”.

Nearly a decade before, the ‘Hung Up’ singer was photographed in August 2013 in Rome, rocking a gold grill that outlined the top row of her teeth, which feature 24 diamonds, ‘The New York Post’ reported.

But as the singer said herself, she’s worn the mouth jewellery throughout her career, and notably throughout the 1990s, she was photographed with a gold front tooth.

“So, they won’t even doubt, why is she coming and asking? So maybe that won’t be there. So, I think I will enjoy that for the time being.”

Gippy Grewal on periodicals: It fascinates us somewhere

New Delhi, March 29 (IANS) Actor, singer and filmmaker Gippy Grewal, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film “Akaal: The Unconquered”, has talked about the popularity of periodic films and said it is “fascinating.”

What is the reason behind periodicals or historicals doing so well at the box-office and with people universally of all ages?

“There are a lot of films which didn’t work. When a lot of films work, we take them out. Like we say in Punjabi, comedy films are the most popular. It’s not like that. The ones who collected the most at the box office, that was comedy. Now comedy has flopped a lot. It’s the same there as well.”

He feels the subject of the movie “should be right”.

“Whether it’s a comedy or a genre, it should be right….”

We have read these things in books. We have imagined that there would be a fort like this. There would be a king like this. We haven’t seen it with our imagination. Whatever Gurpreet Ghuggi has imagined, it’s different. What I have imagined is different. Now there is a vision which I have thought of portraying like this.”

“Now everyone will look at it from that point of view. There is a big scale to look at. I think those things fascinate us somewhere,” Gippy added.

“Akaal: The Unconquered,” which will be released on April 10, is set in the 1840s Punjab. It tells the tale of honour and resilience follows Sardar Akaal Singh and his village as they face a vengeful assault by Jangi Jahan and his forces after the death of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh.

Why did he choose this timeline to tell a story?

“Actually, every film has its own zone. Which subject you can make and which you can’t. So what you like and what you don’t. So I had a subject about which, after Maharaja Ranjit Singh, there was a time when Punjab was in turmoil. We were not able to understand what was happening. Like Punjab was in turmoil.”

“After every 2-3 months, there were changes happening here and there. So, what was happening in that era, most people didn’t know. No one unfolded that chapter. So I thought it was a good place, if we make it in a good way, inspired from all those true incidents, what used to happen. So we made it with that.

Gippy strongly believes the subject should be good.

“And you also understand the period. People have heard what was happening during Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s time, what was happening during Hari Singh Nalwa’s time. What happened immediately after that. We tried to show what we don’t know.”

Pierce Brosnan: I’ve always had my eyes on Dumbledore

Los Angeles, March 29 (IANS) Hollywood star Pierce Brosnan says he has “always had (his) eyes” on playing the Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore in a ‘Harry Potter’ remake and would “probably” say yes if he was asked to be involved in the upcoming series.

The 72-year-old actor has been backed by fans to play the wise and powerful character in the upcoming TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved wizarding saga.

He told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “I’ve always had my eyes on Dumbledore as my hair has gotten greyer and the maturity of life is now upon my visage and shoulders. It’s a joke with my family, the Dumbledore thing – that I’ll go into my Dumbledore years. I don’t want to go there … particularly right now, but if I was asked (to play the part) I probably would say yes.”

The star recently wrapped work on five movies and said he was determined to make the most of opportunities that came his way in the wake of the 2023 Hollywood strikes, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

He said: “A year and a half ago, there was nothing on the horizon. I was saying to my wife, ‘I’m not sure where we’re going here.’ There was such a thump of anxiety within the business.”

“Sometimes you have choices as an actor, sometimes you don’t, but you have a wife, children, a nice house, a piece of property, so money is still going out the door. Luckily, I have good agents and they put me out there.”

Brosnan, who played James Bond in four films between 1995 and 2002, won’t be taking on the role of spymaster M in the next film in the franchise, despite speculation linking him to the role.

He said: “Really? That’s nuts. Oh for God’s sake, let’s see where the wind takes us.

“My wife tells me some of this stuff, about the buzz going on here and there, but she hadn’t told me that one.”

The actor has no plans to retire.

He said: “I’ve never thought about age, but I certainly don’t feel 72.”

Asked if 70 is the new 50, he replied: “It’s true! We’ve altered the landscape of our beings by wishing and desiring, creating pharmaceuticals; you name it. Most people simply can’t retire any more and I don’t want to. What would I do? I’d fall off the twig so fast.”
