New Delhi: The Delhi Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has given the green light to convene the Budget Session for the fiscal year 2024-25, starting from February 15 and concluding on February 20, as per an official announcement on Friday.
The Delhi government has submitted the proposal for the budget session to the Lt Governor for approval. Notably, during the budget preparation, input from various stakeholders in Delhi was sought, with the government incorporating “good recommendations,” according to an official statement.
In addition to presenting the regular budget, the government plans to unveil the ‘Outcome Budget’ for the financial year 2023-24, showcasing achievements and progress from the previous fiscal year. The Outcome Budget serves as a transparent report card, providing insight into the utilization of public funds.
This year, the budget presentation is scheduled for February instead of March, maintaining an expectation of substantial allocations, similar to the previous fiscal year.
Addressing significant issues, the upcoming budget places particular emphasis on education, health, electricity, water, roads, and infrastructure. The government has prioritized education and health, considering them vital for all residents, irrespective of socio-economic backgrounds.
The budget allocates special attention to areas like water, roads, urban development, and various developmental projects, reflecting a proactive approach to meet the diverse needs of the city and its residents.
