Haryana CM inaugurates, lays foundation of 15 projects in Rewari

Chandigarh, June 15 (IANS) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 15 development projects of Rs 288.31 crore in Rewari.

These included the inauguration of eight projects of Rs 193.94 crore and foundation stones for seven projects of Rs 94.37 crore.

Later addressing a ‘Dhanyawad’ Rally’ there, the Chief Minister announced Rs 50.58 crore for the construction of an additional water storage tank in Bhagwanpur to improve water supply in Rewari.

In addition, he announced Rs 7.20 crore for setting up a boosting station and laying a new pipeline for drinking water in Dungerwas village and Rs 5.06 crore for the construction of water works and a new pipeline in Gokulpur village.

He also announced that a library would be constructed in Rewari upon availability of land. Furthermore, Rs 4.39 crore was announced for the construction of the Market Committee building in Rewari.

For the renovation of five roads under the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board, Rs 4.20 crore was announced by the Chief Minister.

He announced the feasibility of a flyover near Colonel Ram Singh Chowk would be studied and it would be constructed accordingly. The trauma center would be shifted to a new location from the District Civil Hospital once land becomes available.

Addressing the issue of industrial wastewater entering the Masani Barrage, he said the government has prepared a comprehensive plan.

Under this plan, sewage treatment plants (STPs) would be installed to purify the water before releasing it into the barrage, making it usable for agriculture. He announced Rs 5 crore specifically for developmental works in villages of the Rewari Assembly constituency.

Calling Rewari the land of brave soldiers, the Chief Minister said the youth of this region serve the country at the borders, ensuring the safety of citizens.

Thanking the public, he said “not only did they vote for a double-engine government a few months ago, but they also added a third engine, ensuring triple-speed development”.

“The people of Haryana have rejected dynastic and corrupt politics and embraced a policy focused on development and nationalism,” said CM Saini.

He emphasised the government “belongs not to any one caste, class, or family, but to all 2.80 crore citizens of Haryana. Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ the government is working for the welfare of every Haryanvi”.

He said since 2014, development projects of Rs 1,916 crore have been carried out in the Rewari Assembly.

In the last 10 years, 69 announcements have been made, of which 61 have been completed, and work is ongoing on four.

The Chief Minister assured that Rewari’s development will now progress at triple the pace.

Over the past 10 years, 305 announcements have been made for Rewari district, of which 167 have been fulfilled, and work is underway on 18.

The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Modi shares a special bond with this region.

“Before becoming Prime Minister on September 15, 2013, he addressed a rally of ex-servicemen on this very land and launched his election campaign. During that rally, he had promised One Rank One Pension, which he fulfilled.”

The Chief Minister said under PM Modi’s leadership over the past 11 years, India has emerged as a nation proud of its ancient heritage, resilient against current challenges, and ambitious about its future.

“Before 2014, there was an atmosphere of fear due to terrorism in the country, but under the Prime Minister’s leadership, terrorism has been dealt strong blows. Whenever Pakistan dared to carry out hostile activities on Indian soil, our brave soldiers responded by striking deep inside Pakistani territory,” the Chief Minister added.

Strong cooperative structure vital for national progress, says Amit Shah

Ahmedabad, May 18 (IANS) Union Home Minister and Gandhinagar Member of Parliament Amit Shah addressed the Gujarat State Cooperative Union’s Summit in Ahmedabad on Sunday, where he emphasised the crucial role of cooperation in India’s development journey.

He highlighted the importance of both the “science of cooperation” and the “science in cooperation”, underlining that cooperative synergy is essential for the sector’s growth.

HM Shah stressed that cooperation among cooperatives — whether in dairy, banking, housing, or agriculture — is vital for mutual benefit and progress. According to him, “to become a developed nation, a strong cooperative structure significantly contributes to national progress, and India must follow suit by integrating modern practices into its cooperative framework.”

In his address, the Home Minister pointed out that changes and technological advancements in the cooperative sector will only be meaningful when they reach the grassroots, particularly the farmers. “Until these innovations and systems benefit farmers directly, they cannot be considered truly effective,” he stated.

He also called for greater transparency across cooperative institutions to ensure accountability and enhance trust among stakeholders. Transparency, he said, is not optional but necessary for the cooperative model to sustain and flourish.

Highlighting Gujarat as a testing ground for innovative cooperative models, HM Shah revealed that cooperatives in the state are being empowered to manufacture machinery and equipment for producing dairy products such as ice cream, paneer, and cheese. “Machines and equipment to make ice cream, cheese, paneer — everything will be built within cooperatives. We are already trying it in Gujarat,” he shared, reflecting the government’s push towards self-reliance through local production ecosystems.

The Union Minister further elaborated on the need for interlinking different sectors within the cooperative system. He emphasised that dairy cooperatives must coordinate with cooperative banks, and cooperative housing societies must engage with other cooperative institutions. This kind of integrated approach, he said, would lead to shared success and long-term sustainability.

Amit Shah also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects across Gandhinagar city and district, worth more than Rs 708 crore. The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation led the initiative with the inauguration of civic and infrastructure projects valued at Rs 200.94 crore, while new works amounting to Rs 352.76 crore had their foundation stones laid.

The Gandhinagar District Administration contributed projects worth Rs 45.70 crore, and the Gandhinagar Urban Development Authority (GUDA) initiated additional works valued at Rs 107.85 crore. Among the notable projects inaugurated were RCC and CC roads in the villages of Basan, Palaj, and Por, totalling Rs 8.91 crore. Primary Health Centres were inaugurated at Vavol and Pethapur for Rs 5.43 crore, and landscaping works along the CH-0 to GH-0 corridor were completed for Rs 4.68 crore.

The broader development package also included the installation of sewerage and drainage pipelines in areas like Borij and Kolavada, town planning development works amounting to Rs 75.08 crore, and the establishment of a Rs 30.97 crore sewage treatment plant at Bhat. Additionally, a new road underpass between Sectors 21 and 22 was initiated, with an investment of Rs 16.45 crore.

Tej Pratap Yadav fined for violating traffic rules on Holi

Patna, March 16 (IANS) RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav, son of former Chief Ministers Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, was fined on Sunday for violating traffic rules during the Holi celebrations.

Tej Pratap was spotted riding a scooty in Patna without wearing a helmet. Upon investigation, it was also found that the vehicle’s insurance and pollution certificate had expired.

He drove the scooty from Rabri Devi’s place, and crossed CM Nitish Kumar’s residence, to reach his destination.

The Traffic Police issued a challan of Rs 4,000, including Rs 1,000 for not wearing a helmet, Rs 1,000 and Rs 2000 for pollution and insurance certificates expiry.

Authorities said traffic rules apply to everyone, regardless of their political stature.

The Patna Police have also taken strict action against a constable, Deepak Kumar, who was seen dancing in uniform during a Holi celebration at the instructions of Hasanpur MLA Tej Pratap Yadav.

Constable Deepak Kumar, deployed as Tej Pratap Yadav’s security guard, was seen dancing in uniform. Deepak Kumar has been sent to police lines. He was brought to the police centre for questioning. Another constable has been deployed in his place.

This incident has further fuelled the political controversy, with the ruling JD(U) and BJP criticising the RJD leader, accusing them of disrespecting security personnel.

As per the viral video, Tej Pratap, sitting on a stage during Holi celebrations, instructed a uniformed policeman to dance, saying: “Hey constable, hey Deepak, we will play a song, you have to dance. If you don’t, you will be suspended. Don’t mind, it’s Holi.”

Tej Pratap Yadav celebrated the Holi in Patna on Saturday. He participated in the “Kurta faad” Holi, in which the person’s upper garment is torn after smearing it with colours.

Series of events planned this year for Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati, Jan 2 (IANS) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that a series of events have been planned in this year which will add significant growth to the state in the coming days.

A big investor summit, Advantage Assam, is set to be hosted in Guwahati in February.

Sarma wrote on X handle: “2024 was good, 2025 will be better. Advantage Assam 2.0 to bring more investments. Jhumur will set World Record. Rs 1 lakh cr of investments in infra.”

He mentioned that more government jobs and entrepreneurship support will be provided to the people of the state.

“Advantage Assam 2.0”, the Investment and Infrastructure Summit will bring Assam’s rich cultural legacy to the world stage.

According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the event, which is set for February 24 and 25, would highlight the traditional Jhumur dance of the tea tribe clans.

Sarma said, “This summit is a platform to showcase Assam’s rich traditions to a global audience in addition to attracting investors.”

A spectacular Jhumur dance performance with more than 7,500 dancers and artists will be part of the event. It will be an extraordinary show, with 32 female dancers and an equal number of male dancers representing each of Assam’s 800+ tea gardens, the Chief Minister stated.

The preparations are underway for this cultural event.

The Chief Minister said, “Perfect execution will be ensured by master training workshops, constituency-level sessions, district-level performances, and final rehearsals in Guwahati.”

The concert, which is planned for either day of the summit, is anticipated to make a lasting effect on those present.

This action comes after Assam already set a Guinness World Record for the biggest Bihu dancing performance.

The goal of Advantage Assam 2.0, the second iteration of the international investor summit since its 2018 launch, is to increase infrastructure development and investment in the state.

The two-day event is expected to draw investors from all around India and the world, solidifying Assam’s standing as a new investment destination in the country.
