Mumbai, Jan 20 (IANS) Actor Anup Soni, who is known for ‘Crime Patrol’, revealed the names of his juniors in the National School of Drama in Delhi. He also said he used to rag his juniors along with his peers. However, the actor said that the ragging was only limited to “roasting” or “bullying” the juniors with discussions around acting, and no physical harm was caused to them.

He told Cyrus Broacha on his podcast, “Ashutosh Rana, Mukesh Tiwari, Kumud Mishra, and Yashpal Sharma, all the villains of the Hindi film industry, these all are my juniors from NSD. I have ragged them.”

He further mentioned, “Actually it was like more of a roasting session. We used to ask them, ‘Where did you come from?’. Then ask them to do something, say a dialogue. And, even if they said the dialogue correctly, we used to tell them, ‘You watch a lot of films. This is a theatre. You know, films and theatres are different media. Have you come to be a hero?’ This is how we bullied them. Nobody was physically hurt in those roasting sessions. It was just verbal sledging. It was more related to acting but in a little bullying way.”

Earlier, on the same podcast, Anup had shared an interesting anecdote about cold-calling the late filmmaker Yash Chopra to get some work.

The actor said that he dialed a landline number, and luckily Yash Chopra picked up the call as those were the days when cell phones hadn’t penetrated the telecommunications market. A video of the actor talking about the same has resurfaced on the Internet.

In the video, the actor said, “I opened the directory and dialed the number of Yash Raj Films, and Yash Chopra picked up the phone. I swear, mobiles didn’t come till then. I told him that, ‘I am from the National School of Drama’, specifically underlined NSD because some NSD passouts had worked with him.”

Mumbai, March 9 (IANS) Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan brought out her inner ‘Poo’, an iconic over-the-top character she performed in the 2001 blockbuster “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”, during the practice sessions ahead of her big performance at the 25th edition of IIFA Awards grand ceremony on Sunday.

The official Instagram handle of IIFA shared a video from backstage, where Kareena was present. The video had the diva dressed in a white T-shirt paired with yoga pants and sunglasses.

Looking at the camera, Kareena said the iconic dialogue “Kaun hai yeh jisne dobara mudke mujhe nahi dekha, who is he?”

Kareena’s character of Poo is one of the most memorable and loved roles from the actress’s career. Not just her fashion, it was the sassy one-liners that made Poo stand out from all the other roles the actress, who is fondly referred to as Bebo, has performed on screen.

Some of the most popular lines said by Poo were “Kaun hai yeh jisne dobara mudke mujhe nahi dekha”, ‘P.H.A.T – Pretty, Hot And Tempting’ and “Tumhe koi haq nahi banta ki tum itni khoobsurat lago. Not fair” among many others.

“Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…” a family drama was directed by Karan Johar. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Hrithik Roshan, and with Rani Mukerji in an extended guest appearance.

It tells the story of an Indian multimillionaire family, which faces troubles and misunderstandings over their adopted son’s marriage to a girl belonging to a lower socio-economic group than them.

In 2022, Kareena spoke to IANS about if Poo deserves a movie to herself. She also shared what makes the character, who comes from Chandni Chowk in New Delhi and then moves to London with her sister essayed by Kajol and brother-in-law played by Shah Rukh Khan, have such a massive fan following.

“I think for the way she is, the way she talks, the kind of millennial Gen-Z kinda words that she uses connect somehow. So, I think it is because of that more than anything else. Let’s see a film someday, who knows.”

Timothee Chalamet says on playing Bob Dylan: I really worship at the church of Bob

Los Angeles, Dec 22 (IANS) Hollywood star Timothee Chalamet, who is best known for his roles in ‘Call Me By Your Name’, ‘Dune’ and ‘Little Women’, will swap fiction and focus on real life in his project.

The actor bagged the role of playing a young Bob Dylan in his upcoming biopic which will document his astronomic rise to stardom, reports ‘Mirror.co.uk’.

The actor had earlier said that he was completely unaware of Bob Dylan’s career, and his cultural impact including his iconic 1965 performance at the Newport Folk Festival. But while Timothee admitted he had no idea just how much of an impact Bob had on the industry until he accepted the job, he has now admitted that despite his previous achievements, he’s most proud of this role.

He said on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, “I didn’t know much about Dylan but now, having worked on it for so long, I really worship at the church of Bob. I am deeply passionate about this man and his work. My friends are tired of hearing me talk about him ad nauseam. This man has been so impactful on culture, and this film and this role are the ones I am most proud of”.

As per ‘Mirror.co.uk’, Timothee is, however, yet to meet Bob who is described as an “elusive mysterious figure”, as well as a “man of few words”.

He commented, “I am very respectful that it is true to his character that I would never get to meet him”. But while they have never met, Timothee has been given Bob’s seal of approval.

In a social media post, the musician who has been dubbed one of the greatest songwriters of all time, said, “There’s a movie about me opening soon called ‘A Complete Unknown’ (what a title!). Timothee Chalamet is starring in the lead role. Timmy’s a brilliant actor so I’m sure he’s going to be completely believable as me. Or a younger me. Or some other me. The film’s taken from Elijah Wald’s ‘Dylan Goes Electric’, a book that came out in 2015. It’s a fantastic retelling of events from the early ’60s that led up to the fiasco at Newport. After you’ve seen the movie, read the book”.

Most recently, while attending various premieres for the film, Timothee has been channelling Bob’s looks over the years, including blonde hair at the New York premiere, a tribute to Bob’s appearance at the Sundance Film Festival back in 2003. Initially, the biopic was due to commence in 2019 but was halted due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and later the actor’s strike.
