Karnataka Chief Minister Kumaraswamy Accuses Congress of Oppressing Kar Sevaks

Bangalore: Former Chief Minister of Karnataka and JD(S) chief H. D. Kumaraswamy expressed strong criticism, asserting that the Congress government in the state is suppressing Kar Sevaks.

In a press conference held on Friday, Kumaraswamy highlighted that while the nation rejoices in the inauguration of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya by the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, the Congress government in Karnataka remains indifferent to pressing issues such as farmers’ suicides in north Karnataka and Mandya.

Accusing the government of diversionary tactics, Kumaraswamy claimed, “For distraction, the issue of Kar Sevaks has been brought up. The state is oppressing them to cover up its failures.”

He further recalled the successful resolution of the Idgaah Maidan row in Hubballi city during the tenure of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, emphasizing that the current Congress government is engaged in “oppression and politics of dominance.”

In response to the situation, Deve Gowda affirmed the JD(S) alliance with the NDA, stating, “It is our duty to stand with them, and we will not hesitate to give our opinion in this regard.”

Regarding religious beliefs, Deve Gowda shared, “We worship Ram, and if any community is endangered, it is our duty to protect them.” He emphasized that his faith extends beyond a particular religion, citing his visits to Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Golden Temple, and Tirupati during his tenure as Prime Minister.

“I have faith in God as an individual, and when I sat on the chair of PM, I conducted impartially,” Deve Gowda concluded, addressing questions about his diverse religious engagements.
