Malaika Arora takes a funny dig at Mumbai’s unpredictable rains with a relatable post

Mumbai, Sep 2 (IANS) Legendary screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar has seen it and done it all. However, there’s one thing he missed out on, collaborating with the legendary singer Mohammed Rafi.

Javed recently attended an event in the city with veteran actor Jeetendra, and spoke about how he never got to collaborate with the late singer. The veteran screenwriter said that although he was a part of the industry during the prime of Mohammed Rafi, he wasn’t working in the capacity of a lyricist. He was writing scripts for films, which were turning out to be blockbusters.

He said, “When he was in this world, I couldn’t write songs. I was in the film industry but I was a script writer. But I couldn’t write songs for him. So this desire remained in my heart that Rafi bhai should have also got to know me”.

Javed Akhtar worked in tandem with Salim Khan as the legendary screenwriting pair Salim-Javed. However, the two split after Javed decided to take a solo route, and to diversify his skills with lyrics.

The veteran screenwriter lavished praise on Mohammed Rafi, as he said, “Rafi sahab’s voice has always been in our hearts, but these people listen to his voice and teach it to others. And they have been doing it for many years. Even after 40-50 years, people still remember his voice. I can’t name one favorite song, there are many. I can tell you at least 5-10 songs. Because I feel it is impossible to find such perfection. Like, ‘Jaan Ke Liye Deewana’, ‘Meri Duniya Mein Tum Aayi’, a whole song was used in the grain of his voice in whisper”.

He further mentioned that a society, which respects its artists is a healthy society, as he said, “I would like to say that it is a matter of great joy that when we give respect to our artists, it proves that we are civilized. What these people are doing is proof of their civilization. A civilized society remembers its artists and respects them”.

“It’s a very good thing. If you respect your artists, it means you are doing good as a society. This is your praise that you respect your artists. This shows where we are. If a society doesn’t respect its artists, then something is wrong”, he added.

Mumbai, Feb 8 (IANS) Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh recently revealed that he consciously keeps his bad mood at bay, especially when surrounded by good people.

Known for his upbeat persona and positive energy, Diljit emphasized the importance of staying calm and composed, highlighting how the company we keep can greatly influence our mood and outlook on life. On Saturday, the Udta Punjab actor posted his stylish photos where he is seen dressed in a black outfit paired with a matching black turban, exuding elegance and sophistication. Diljit completed his look black sunglasses.

In the images, the singer is seen striking different poses for the camera. In one candid shot, Dosanjh flaunted his radiant smile. Yesterday, the Born to Shine singer dropped a video of him where he is seen vibing to his song, Heer.

On the professional front, Diljit is gearing up for the release upcoming movie “Punjab 95.” A few days ago, he treated fans to his first look from the film and captioned, “I Challenge the Darkness. Punjab 95.”

The film is inspired by the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who served as the director of a bank in Amritsar, Punjab, during the turbulent period of militancy in the state. In the aftermath of Operation Blue Star, the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and the 1984 Anti-Sikh Riots, the police were given sweeping powers to detain individuals, often labeling them as suspected terrorists.

Apart from this, the singer also has the Sunny Deol-starrer war drama “Border 2” in the pipeline.

Announcing Diljit’s involvement in the film, the makers shared a motion poster in September and wrote, “The battlefield grows mightier with Diljit Dosanjh stepping in alongside Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan on the frontline of Bhushan Kumar & JP Dutta’s Border 2 for the Anurag Singh directorial! #Border2 hits the theatres on January 23, 2026.”

Chennai, Mar 14 (IANS) Director Rajeshwar Kalisamy’s comedy drama ‘Kudumbasthan’, which went on to emerge a superhit within the first few days of its release, has now gone on to complete a strong 50-day run in theatres.

The film, which features actor Manikandan and Saanve Megghana in the lead and which revolves around the travails of a middle-class family man in today’s world, still continues to do well in theatres, despite its OTT release on March 7.

Taking to X to announce the film’s successful 50th day in theatres, the production house that produced the film, Cinemakaaran, wrote, “50 days of the blockbuster success. #Kudumbasthan celebrates a journey filled with laughs, relatability and complete family entertainment.”

Actor Manikandan’s performance as a young husband in a middle-class family who runs from pillar to post in order to satisfy the financial needs of his entire family came in for much praise in this film, which released on January 24 this year.

Manikandan, in an event prior to the film’s release, had said that Kudumbasthan had a relatable story for audiences and that he was sure they would enjoy watching the film with friends and families.

The actor had also spoken at length about playing a middle-class man in several films. “There’s always something beautiful and unique about middle-class families. If you examine 10 (middle-class) families with similar backgrounds, you will uncover ten different stories. Even the smallest incident in their daily routines can be fascinating. The same goes for ‘Kudumbasthan,’ as the story and premise are entirely different from my previous films,” he had said.

Kudumbasthan was produced by S. Vinoth Kumar of Cinemakkaran and featured a promising bunch of actors including Manikandan, Saanve Megghana, Guru Somasundaram, Balaji Sakthivel, R.Sundarrajan, Prasanna Balachandran and Jenson Dhivakar. Vaisagh scored the music for this film, which had cinematography by N Subramaniam.
