Malini Awasthi calls Saiyaan from Mannu Kya Karegga her ‘identity’

Mumbai, Aug 18 (IANS) After “Humnava”, producer Sharad Mehra’s Curious Eyes Cinema and veteran composer Lalit Pandit have delivered another musical gem—”Saiyaan” for their forthcoming romantic comedy, “Mannu Kya Karegga”.

Crooned by Malini Awasthi, the track has been infused with Lalit Pandit’s signature artistry.

The music video of “Saiyaan” is taken to the next level by actress Saachi’s graceful and rhythmic dance performance.

Sharing her experience, Malini stated: “It was a truly beautiful experience lending my voice to one of the most iconic songs of my journey, ‘Saiyaan’—a song that has, in many ways, become my identity. This traditional gem from Awadh is one that people request me to sing wherever I travel, and it always carries the fragrance of our folk culture.

Revealing how she came on board, Malini added: “When Lalit ji called me one day and asked if I would sing it for a film, I immediately felt both joy and responsibility. Soon after, I came to Bombay and recorded it with a live orchestra, which was in itself such a rare and moving experience. Later, when I learnt that the makers wanted to feature me as well, it came as a wonderful surprise.”

“In today’s time, when all kinds of songs are being created, it makes me deeply happy to see filmmakers giving importance to music that belongs to our soil, to our traditions. It reflects the immense respect the writer, producer, and director hold for folk music. Meeting the young talents Vyom and Saachi was equally delightful—they were so humble, so respectful, and it gave me great hope to see such sincerity in the next generation,” she concluded.

“Mannu Kya Karegga” features Vinay Pathak, Kumud Mishra, and Charu Shankar in key roles, along with others.

Touted to be a heartfelt tale of love, struggle, and rediscovery, the film promises an emotional ride that feels both raw and real.

“Mannu Kya Karegga” is expected to hit the cinema halls on September 12.

Mumbai, June 26 (IANS) Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai recently took a trip down memory lane as he reminisced about the making of his iconic 1997 film “Pardes.”

Sharing a nostalgic behind-the-scenes photo from the film’s shoot at Fatehpur Sikri, Ghai reflected on the passionate collaboration that brought the story to life. In his heartfelt note, the director emphasized that a memorable film like “Pardes” is only possible when writers, directors, and actors come together with equal passion and commitment.

He credited the film’s emotional depth and timeless appeal to the combined efforts of his co-writer Neeraj Pathak, dialogue writer Javed Siddiqui, and lead actor Shah Rukh Khan—especially in powerful scenes like the film’s climax.

Subhash Ghai posted a BTS image featuring SRK and other members of the film’s team. In the photo, the director is seen explaining a scene to the actor. For the caption, Ghai wrote, “A memorable film like Pardes can be made only when writers director n actors work together passionately in building up every moment of film That happened exactly when my co-writer Neeraj Pathak my dialogue writer Javed Siddiqui. N my super actor Shahrukh khan put their full energy in creating n performing a scene like this in climax I Just got a picture of shooting of Pardes in Fatehpur Sikri When imagination meets creativity & if they together hit the right notes…..Magic happens. Like each film of yours did sir.”

“Pardes,” a musical romance, was helmed by Subhash Ghai, who also served as the producer and co-writer under his banner, Mukta Arts. The film featured Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, alongside debutants Mahima Chaudhry and Apurva Agnihotri. It also boasts a strong supporting cast, including Alok Nath, Amrish Puri, and Himani Shivpuri.

The film was later adapted into Telugu as “Pelli Kanuka” in 1998, featuring Jagapati Babu, Lakshmi, and Banumathi Ramakrishna. “Pardes” was released on 8 August 1997.

‘Bigg Boss 18’ fame Shrutika Arjun says her favourite Holi delicacy is ‘thandai’

Mumbai, March 14 (IANS) Shrutika Arjun, who gained major eyeballs with her stint in the Salman Khan-hosted reality show “Bigg Boss 18”, recalled her most memorable Holi and also shared that her favourite Holi delicacy is ‘thandai’.

“I am someone who performs Puja every day before leaving the house, no matter what my schedule is or where I am. Even when I’m traveling, I make sure to do it wholeheartedly wherever I’m staying. At home, I personally place flowers for God in the Puja room and perform my rituals,” Shrutika told IANS.

She shared that it gives her a deep sense of peace and strength, setting the tone for her entire day.

“For me, Puja is not limited to a specific occasion—it’s a daily ritual that brings me calm and positivity,” she said.

Shrutika, who was known for her close friendship with “Bigg Boss 18” contestants Chum Darang and Tajinder Bagga, further talked about the delicacies she enjoys on Holi.

“My favorite Holi delicacy would be Thandai. In fact, Baggu (Tajinder Bagga) was so sweet to send me a surprise gift yesterday. I even shared it as my story the day before yesterday. He sent me organic colors made from real flowers, along with Thandai, beautifully packed in a box that had ‘Happy Holi’ written on it.”

“It was such a thoughtful gesture. I was like, ‘Thank you, Baggu—you’ve already brought the festive spirit.’”

Recalling her most memorable Holi, she shared: “My mama would take us to the beach, and on the way, we would excitedly apply colors on everyone we met, even people at traffic signals.”

“Once at the beach, after playing Holi to our heart’s content, we would wash off the colors in the sea, taking a dip and enjoying the waves before heading back. That remains one of my favourite Holi memories,” she stated.

Rozlyn Khan accuses Hina Khan of bribing her doctor to hide her cancer details

Mumbai, Jan 31 (IANS) Actress Rozlyn Khan has accused Hina Khan of bribing her doctor, Dr Mandar Nadkarni in order to keep the details of her cancer treatment under wraps. According to her, it is because of this, the doctor has not come clean in the matter.

Rozlyn Khan said, “It’s surprising to see Dr. Mandar Nadkarni not coming out open and clear on the subject at all. As a doctor, he has the moral and social responsibility to come clean so that so many cancer patients all over the globe don’t get misguided. I don’t know what’s keeping him silent. There might be a possibility that Hina Khan has actually bribed him to stay silent on the matter. It’s painful to the core, especially as a cancer survivor myself.”

Rozlyn Khan found discrepancies in Hina Khan’s cancer case and even challenged the ‘Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ actress to come out in the open about her treatment. However, Hina Khan has not yet answered any of these queries.

For the unversed, Rozlyn Khan is also a stage 4 cancer survivor. It must be noted here that both Hina Khan and Rozlyn Khan have a common doctor for their cancer treatment.

Prior to this, Rozlyn Khan accused Hina Khan of using her cancer treatment for publicity. The actress mentioned during an interview that her surgery lasted 15 hours, whereas Rozlyn Khan revealed that usually the single mastectomy surgery takes up to 2 to 3 hours, and a double mastectomy should be a 5-6 hours long surgery.

Rozlyn Khan claimed that Hina Khan has a lot of money, and is spending a large amount on paid media, ensuring that stories of her cancer journey are made public everywhere. She further bashed Hina Khan for misusing her fame and money during this tough phase of her life.
