Massive crackdown in Mahadevapura: Two bike lifters held, 20 stolen vehicles recovered

Bengaluru: In a major crackdown on vehicle thefts, the Whitefield sub-division police have arrested two bike thieves and recovered 20 stolen two-wheelers worth ₹37.5 lakh. The arrests follow a special operation launched after repeated complaints of bike thefts in Mahadevapura and surrounding areas.

The case came to light after a resident, Nagaraju, reported the theft of his Yamaha RX parked near Gopalan International School. Taking note of similar incidents, ACP Reena Suvarna formed a special police team comprising Mahadevapura Inspector G. Praveen Babu, PSIs Mahesh, Parashuram and Sunil Kaddi.

The team laid a trap and arrested two Ramamurthynagar residents — Manu, son of Dyavegowda, and Sachin, son of Balaraju. Police said the duo had been stealing bikes from several parts of the city and selling them in different districts across Karnataka. Vehicles that could not be resold were allegedly abandoned in isolated locations around Bengaluru.

Acting on information gathered during interrogation, police recovered 20 two-wheelers stolen from Mahadevapura, Whitefield, HAL, Ramamurthynagar and other areas. An electric two-wheeler used by the accused to commit the thefts was also seized, ACP Suvarna said.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of DCP (Whitefield) K. Parashuram. A large team of officers — including Eerappa, Manjunath, Siddappa Gadyala, Kavita, Manjunath Makanapura, Sachin, Kranti Muranal, Santosh Karjagi and Nityanand — assisted in the crackdown.
