Ministers laud PM Modi’s Bhopal address as ‘historic and visionary’

Bhopal, May 31 (IANS) Addressing the women empowerment conference held at Jamboree Maidan in Madhya Pradesh’s capital, Bhopal, on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended multiple development gifts to the state.

Following the PM’s speech, Madhya Pradesh Minister Prahlad Patel said that the state received several development projects from the Prime Minister, for which the government is grateful. “Development of the state and the nation is our government’s commitment. The message that PM Modi delivered here today is a matter of pride for all of us,” he said.

Minister Chaitanya Kumar Kashyap remarked that the message PM Modi gave from Madhya Pradesh’s soil was deeply inspiring. “Our government is dedicated to the upliftment of women. We are progressing with a focus on heritage and development,” he added.

Public Health Engineering Minister Sampatiya Uikey said, “Today is a day of great fortune for our sisters and daughters. It was a matter of immense joy for us that PM Modi addressed the Women Empowerment event on the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai.”

Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla also expressed gratitude, saying, “PM Modi has gifted numerous initiatives to Madhya Pradesh. We thank him for this. Our government is moving ahead on the path of service, resolve, and good governance.” He also paid tribute to Devi Ahilyabai, recalling her contributions, and warned terrorists that they would not be spared.

Minister Pradyuman Tomar said, “Listening to PM Modi was a wonderful experience. He spoke about women’s empowerment and remembered the great contributions of Devi Ahilyabai. His speech filled the public with enthusiasm.”

Minister Narendra Shivaji Patel stated, “PM Modi addressed the massive gathering on the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai. The excitement among the people was remarkable. We can confidently say that India is on its way to becoming a developed nation.”

Minister Pratima Bagri added, “The initiatives and gifts provided by PM Modi are giving Madhya Pradesh a new direction. Under his leadership, women are being truly empowered. We thank him sincerely.”

A woman attending the conference said, “It felt wonderful to listen to and see PM Modi. He has done a lot for the welfare of sisters and daughters. We are grateful to him for that.”

Chhattisgarh govt announces largesse to ‘Maoist-free’ villages

Bhopal, March (IANS) Following the success of its anti-Maoist operations, the Chhattisgarh government has come up with a slew of sops proclaiming that villages if declared free of Maoist influence, shall be endowed with a fund of Rs one crore for development purposes.

Furthermore, such villages will be granted access to electricity and the installation of mobile towers.

“If a Maoist does surrender, the reward will be doubled,” declared state’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma during a televised address.

The administration is exerting every effort to eradicate the scourge of Maoism from Chhattisgarh, he said.

Under the ‘Elvad Panchayat Abhiyan’, Sharma said, the Gram Panchayat itself shall persuade Maoists to surrender, and the government does encourage this initiative. Villages that achieve the status of being Maoist-free shall be bestowed with a certificate attesting to their newfound freedom.

The Deputy Chief Minister further revealed that the cabinet has approved a policy concerning the surrender of Maoists. If they surrender en-masse, the reward will be doubled. The grievances of the families of martyrs shall be addressed by the Inspector General of the Range.

Under the recently inaugurated ‘Veer Balidani Yojana,’ a sum of Rs 10 crore has been allocated for the installation of statues commemorating the martyrs.

In recounting Thursday’s extensive anti-Maoist campaign, the Deputy Chief Minister confirmed that the remains of 26 Maoists were recovered in the Gangaloor area of Bijapur district, whilst four were slain in the Kanker and Narayanpur regions. Thus, a total of 30 Maoists were killed in two separate operations.

He said the soldiers had achieved a remarkable victory. Following the gradual success against Maoism, the people now partake in fearless endeavours, such as travelling directly from Bijapur to Pamed, foregoing the lengthy 200 km detour through Telangana.

A bus service to Pamed resumed on March 2 after 25 years, connecting seven panchayats, including remote Pamed. The village, previously accessible only via Telangana, is now directly linked to the Bijapur headquarters, the Deputy CM said.

These changes are part of broader development and security efforts under the Niyyad Nellanar scheme. A weekly market, closed for 30 years due to the threat of Maoist activities in Garpa village of Abujhmarh in Narayanpur district, was reopened. The market is now buzzing with local families who were forcibly displaced and are now back. Services have likewise commenced in Kondapalli, and no fewer than 570 mobile towers have been installed, said the Deputy Chief Minister.

Bureaucratic reshuffle: Bihar govt transfers 12 IAS officers

Patna, Feb 13 (IANS) The Bihar government, under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, transferred 12 IAS officers on Wednesday.

Some of the officers were also assigned additional charges of various departments.

The General Administration Department has issued a notification regarding these transfers and posting on Wednesday.

Among them, Udayan Mishra, the Director of Science, Technology, and Technical Education, has been promoted to Special Secretary of the Tourism department with additional charge as Tourism Director.

Pawan Kumar Sinha, a Land Settlement Officer of the Jamui district, was transferred to the Additional Secretary of the Water Resources Department.

Shyam Bihari Meena, the Director of Planning and Training, has resigned from the post of Director of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department.

Rajesh Kumar, a Purnia District Settlement Officer, was also promoted to Additional Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs Department of the Bihar government.

Abhay Jha, a 2017 batch IAS officer, previously served as a Managing Director at Bihar State Text Book Prakash Nigam Ltd. Now, he was transferred to the post of Joint Secretary of the Rural Works Department.

Yogesh Kumar Sagar, a 2017 batch IAS officer and the Managing Director of the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation, is a Director Social Welfare Department, with additional charge as the Joint Secretary Social Welfare Department.

Dinesh Kumar, the Bhagalpur Divisional Commissioner, was assigned an Additional Charge as Commissioner of the Munger Division.

Animesh Kumar Parashar, the Commissioner of Patna Municipal Corporation, has been given an Additional Charge as Managing Director of Bihar Urban Infrastructure Corporation.

Ahmed Mahmood, an Additional Secretary of Science, Technology, and Technical Education, has been assigned as an Additional Charge as Director of Technical Education.

These transfers are part of the state government’s administrative reshuffling, ensuring efficient governance and execution of developmental policies across different sectors.

Earlier on February 5, the Nitish Kumar government issued orders for the transfer and posting of seven IPS officers, including officers holding the ranks of Additional Director General (ADG) and Inspector General (IG).

The reshuffle also includes five new IPS officers and two women officers being appointed to key roles.

Cong not pursuing politics of vengeance: D. K. Shivakumar on Covid ‘scam’ FIR

Bengaluru, Dec 14 (IANS) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar clarified on Saturday that Congress was not pursuing politics of vengeance by filing an FIR concerning the Covid “scam”.

Speaking to media persons, Shivakumar said, the Congress-led Karnataka government was not pursuing politics of vengeance in initiating action regarding the Covid “scam”.

Shivakumar stated, “The government had formed a commission led by High Court Justice John Michael D’Cunha and action was taken as per the panel’s recommendations.”

“We are studying the recommendations after which more action will be followed and everything will happen within the framework of law,” he said.

“If we were to pursue vengeful politics, any decision could have been made. The complainant woman had approached the court. If we were to misuse the police force, any decision would have been taken,” Shivakumar stated referring to the POCSO case filed against former CM B. S. Yediyurappa.

“We had discussed certain issues and scams before the election. When the report of the commission is submitted, we can’t sit quietly,” Shivakumar said.

“Hence, we can’t ignore when a commission gives a report and the government will take action,” he said.

Sources stated that the Congress government is preparing to initiate legal action against prominent BJP leaders facing the allegations in the Covid scam. Earlier, the Commission had stated that B. S. Yediyurappa and then Health Ministers B. Sriramulu and K. Sudhakar had allegedly indulged in rampant corruption and misuse of power during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government lodged an FIR in this regarding, naming officials at the Vidhana Soudha police station in Bengaluru on Friday.

The government is also preparing to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the matter and act swiftly, the sources confirmed.

The 10-page FIR discusses the role of five doctors, two government officers, a pharmaceutical company and industries. It also mentions the involvement of politicians and no names have been given.
