Mobile internet services suspended in Haryana’s Nuh owing to Jalabhishek Yatra

Chandigarh, July 13 (IANS) Ahead of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra, the Haryana government on Sunday suspended mobile internet services, bulk SMS, excluding banking and mobile recharge, and all dongle services provided on mobile networks, except the voice calls, in the jurisdiction of Nuh district till 9 p.m. of July 14, citing apprehensions of potential unrest and misuse of digital platforms to spread misinformation.

A holiday in government and private schools in the Nuh district witnessed unrest in the past, on Monday has also been announced. The Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra begins from Nalhar Mahadev Mandir, from where the devotees proceed to Jhir Mandir in Ferozepur Jhirka.

Sharing details, an official spokesperson said, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sumita Misra issued the order in view of potential disruption of public utilities, damage to public assets and amenities and disturbance of public law and order in the district. The spokesperson said the mobile internet services have been suspended to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, X, etc, on mobile phones and SMS.

The spokesman said that this order has been issued after taking utmost care of public convenience by exempting individual SMS, mobile recharge, banking SMS, voice calls, internet services provided by broadband and lease lines of corporate and domestic households, thus not affecting the commercial and financial interest of the state and basic domestic needs of individuals.

All telecom service providers of Haryana have been directed to ensure compliance with the order. Any person found guilty of violating the order will be liable for legal action, added the spokesman.

“The order is a precautionary measure to maintain public peace and prevent any possible law and order disturbance,” the Home Department said, adding that the decision balances security needs with public convenience by exempting essential services.

He further stated, “Let us strengthen the hand of the unwavering leader of the Indian Union – the self-respecting voice for the rights of Tamil Nadu – the honourable Chief Minister. Let us march steadfastly for the victory of Tamil Nadu!”

On social media platform X, Udhayanidhi added, “Guiding the party in the footsteps of Periyar, Anna, and Kalaignar, Stalin has earned the love of Tamil Nadu’s people and is now a great leader beloved across India. Wishing him many more years of leadership and service.”

CM Stalin paid floral tributes at the memorials of DMK stalwarts C. N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi at Marina Beach.

He is also scheduled to pay homage at the Periyar Memorial in Periyar Thidal.

Various events have been scheduled to mark the event.

Later in the day, at Anna Arivalayam, CM Stalin will meet ministers, party workers, and officials to receive birthday greetings. Since morning, social media has been flooded with birthday wishes from supporters and party members.

On the eve of his birthday, CM Stalin had urged the party cadre to take two pressing issues to the people – delimitation that could affect the state’s self-respect, social justice, and welfare schemes, and the imposition of Hindi language in Tamil Nadu.

He emphasised the need to educate the public on these issues, warning that they could jeopardise the state’s rights and future representation in Parliament.

Nitish Kumar distributes appointment letters to 51,389 teachers

Patna, March 9 (IANS) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar handed over appointment letters to 51,389 newly selected teachers on Sunday.

The grand ceremony was held at Gandhi Maidan, Patna, where 10,739 teachers received their appointment letters in person from the CM and other ministers.

The first appointment letter was given to Nutan Kumari from Arwal, who left her IT job to become a teacher for Class 11-12 in Bihar.

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) conducted the teacher recruitment process, ensuring transparency and merit-based selection.

CM Nitish personally handed over appointment letters to nearly 100 teachers.

The Chief Minister congratulated the selected candidates and emphasised the importance of quality education in the state.

He reiterated his government’s commitment to improving the state’s education system.

He assured that the teacher recruitment process would continue, and more opportunities would be created for the youth. The process is being carried out in all 38 districts of Bihar.

Teachers from Patna, Nalanda, Bhojpur, Jehanabad, Arwal, Saran, Vaishali, and Muzaffarpur are receiving their appointment letters here at Gandhi Maidan Patna.

Teachers from the remaining 30 districts are being handed their appointment letters in ceremonies at their respective district headquarters by the district magistrates.

The Bihar Chief Minister also said that 42,918 headmasters will receive appointment letters next month.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said 50 lakh government jobs and employment opportunities were promised under Nitish Kumar’s leadership.

Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary countered Tejashwi’s criticism, stating that CM Nitish transformed the “junk Bihar” of the RJD regime into a “prosperous” Bihar and initiated large-scale employment opportunities.

Water Resource Minister Vijay Chaudhary pointed out that teacher recruitment through BPSC was CM Nitish’s vision, dismissing claims of credit by opposition leaders.

This recruitment drive marks a significant step in Bihar’s education reform, ensuring transparency and merit-based selection in the teaching sector.

MP CM plants sapling for ‘Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam’ campaign in Indore

Indore, July 11 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, on Friday, inaugurated ‘Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam’ programme, planting a sapling to begin the mega plantation drive organised by the Indore Municipal Corporation in state capital Indore.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Chief Minister Yadav appreciated Indore Municipal Corporation for taking a resolution for developing a garden, which will be known as ‘Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam’.

“Heartiest congratulations to everyone, including Indore Municipal Corporation for resolution taken to plant samplings in the holy month of Shravan,” the Chief Minister said.

For this noble initiative, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruling Indore Municipal Corporation has allocated five acres of land located at a market in Keshar Bagh area in the city.

State’s Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Indore Mayor Pushyamitara Bhargava, Indore MP Shankar Lalwani and some other local BJP leaders also planted saplings at a ground in the city.

Initially, the ‘Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam’ initiative is the state government’s project under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme to economically empower women from self-help groups (SHGs).

Under this initiative, more than 30 lakh fruit-bearing plants will be planted on their lands, providing a new source of income.

Along with planting saplings, financial assistance will be provided for pit digging, fencing with barbed wire and the construction of a 50,000-litre water reservoir for irrigation.

To avail the benefits, the selected SHG woman must own a minimum of half an acre and a maximum of one acre of land.

The selection process of eligible beneficiaries is underway, which is expected to be completed by July 15.

Site inspections, physical verification and administrative and technical approvals will be finalised by July 25.

Preparations, including pit digging and fencing, will be completed by August 14 and the plantation drive will be conducted from August 15 to September 15 as a statewide campaign.
