MP CM plants sapling for ‘Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam’ campaign in Indore

Indore, July 11 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, on Friday, inaugurated ‘Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam’ programme, planting a sapling to begin the mega plantation drive organised by the Indore Municipal Corporation in state capital Indore.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Chief Minister Yadav appreciated Indore Municipal Corporation for taking a resolution for developing a garden, which will be known as ‘Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam’.

“Heartiest congratulations to everyone, including Indore Municipal Corporation for resolution taken to plant samplings in the holy month of Shravan,” the Chief Minister said.

For this noble initiative, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruling Indore Municipal Corporation has allocated five acres of land located at a market in Keshar Bagh area in the city.

State’s Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Indore Mayor Pushyamitara Bhargava, Indore MP Shankar Lalwani and some other local BJP leaders also planted saplings at a ground in the city.

Initially, the ‘Ek Bagiya Maa Ke Naam’ initiative is the state government’s project under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme to economically empower women from self-help groups (SHGs).

Under this initiative, more than 30 lakh fruit-bearing plants will be planted on their lands, providing a new source of income.

Along with planting saplings, financial assistance will be provided for pit digging, fencing with barbed wire and the construction of a 50,000-litre water reservoir for irrigation.

To avail the benefits, the selected SHG woman must own a minimum of half an acre and a maximum of one acre of land.

The selection process of eligible beneficiaries is underway, which is expected to be completed by July 15.

Site inspections, physical verification and administrative and technical approvals will be finalised by July 25.

Preparations, including pit digging and fencing, will be completed by August 14 and the plantation drive will be conducted from August 15 to September 15 as a statewide campaign.

PM Modi to address 122nd Mann Ki Baat tomorrow

New Delhi, May 24 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 122nd episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, on Sunday (May 25) at 11 a.m.

In the last episode, PM Modi issued a stern warning to the terrorists responsible for the attack on innocent tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, assuring that the perpetrators and conspirators of this heinous act will face the harshest response.

He also promised the families of the victims that justice would be served.

Addressing the 121st episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on April 27, PM Modi said, “Today, as I talk my heart out with you, there is deep agony in my heart. The April 22 Pahalgam terror attack has left every citizen heartbroken. Every Indian feels deep sympathy for the families of the victims. A person may belong to any state or speak any language, but they feel the pain of those who lost their loved ones in this attack.”

“I understand that every Indian is seething after seeing the images of the terrorist attack. This attack in Pahalgam reflects the frustration of those who patronise terrorism; it shows their cowardice,” he said.

“At a time when peace was returning to Kashmir, schools and colleges were vibrant, construction activities had gained unprecedented momentum, democracy was getting stronger, the number of tourists was witnessing a record increase, people’s incomes were rising, new opportunities were being created for the youth, enemies of the nation, enemies of Jammu and Kashmir did not like it,” the PM said.

“Terrorists and their masters want Kashmir to be destroyed again, and that is why such a big conspiracy was hatched,” he added.

The Prime Minister stressed that in this war against terrorism, the unity of the nation and the solidarity of 140 crore Indians are the nation’s greatest strength.

In the last Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi also reflected on the significance of the months of April and May in India’s freedom struggle, highlighting the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters during that time.

He spoke of the struggles faced by farmers, particularly in Bihar, where the British were forcing them to cultivate indigo, a crop that rendered the soil barren.

Recalling Gandhiji’s arrival, he shared, “The farmers told Gandhiji, ‘Our land is dying, we are not getting food grains to eat.’ The pain of lakhs of farmers made a resolve come up in Gandhiji’s mind. From there, the historic Satyagraha of Champaran started.”

PM Modi also paid tribute to Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, who contributed significantly to the Satyagraha. He urged young people to read Rajendra Prasad’s book, ‘Satyagraha in Champaran,’ saying it is essential to understand the history of the struggle.

The Prime Minister also pointed out the significance of May, with the anniversary of the first battle of India’s Independence approaching.

Tamil Nadu BJP slams DMK’s ‘census and delimitation drama’

Chennai, June 7 (IANS) Tamil Nadu BJP spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the ruling DMK government, accusing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and DMK MP Kanimozhi of orchestrating a “census and delimitation drama” to distract the public from their administrative failures.

He asserted that the DMK’s tactics were driven by “frustration, envy, and anger” over the growing strength of the BJP-led NDA, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) in the state. In a strongly worded statement, Prasad said, “The desperation of the DMK is visible. Stalin and Kanimozhi are spreading misinformation on census and delimitation in a bid to manipulate public opinion. These baseless allegations are nothing but a last-ditch attempt to cling to power through theatrics and dynastic politics.”

He urged Stalin and Kanimozhi to refrain from making “unfounded allegations” against the Centre and instead focus on addressing governance issues plaguing the state. “Tamil Nadu is grappling with a deteriorating law and order situation, rising prices of essential commodities, and administrative dysfunction. The DMK government is using diversionary tactics to mask its failures,” he said.

Prasad also dismissed Kanimozhi’s accusations against EPS as “unsubstantiated,” arguing that Palaniswami’s criticism of corruption and dynastic rule under the DMK was legitimate. He further cited Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s earlier clarification that the delimitation process would not compromise the rights of any state.

“Despite this assurance, the DMK continues to sow confusion among the people, which is not just misleading but borders on unconstitutional behaviour,” he added. Calling for responsible governance, Prasad said the constitutional process of delimitation must be allowed to proceed without politicisation.

“Any concerns should be addressed through dialogue, not propaganda. The people of Tamil Nadu will ultimately judge the DMK’s performance at the ballot box,” he concluded.

Manipur govt announces 7 pc DA hike for employees

Imphal, Dec 31 (IANS) Manipur government on Tuesday announced a 7 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) increase for over one lakh employees of the state.

Announcing the DA, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees shall be increased from 32 per cent to 39 per cent with effect from January 1, 2025.

With the announcement of the DA, over one lakh government staff in the state would be benefited.

The Chief Minister also said that around 500 youths shall be provided residential skills at Delhi for cabin crew placements in Air India and Indigo. The funding for the training would be borne by the Ministry of Tourism and the priority would be given to the ethnic violence displaced persons, he said.

From January 2025, the government would be providing 23 commonly prescribed cancer drugs free of cost in all district hospitals, he added.

The Chief Minister also announced that a society for the management of Model Residential Schools would be set up for its smooth functioning. These schools would provide high-quality and affordable education in minority areas.

As many as 13 model residential schools are being constructed in 11 districts under the PMJVK Scheme.

The Chief Minister’s College Students Rehabilitation Scheme shall be extended for another year for the IDPs. The Chief Minister also initiated the Chief Minister’s Coaching Scheme for entrance examinations to professional courses of engineering (JEE) and Medical (NEET). This initiative would empower students from Manipur to get admission into professional courses, he added.

The Chief Minister further stated that the government would be developing a Polo Ground with the provision of a gallery at Ibudhou Marjing with a project cost of Rs 30 crore, development of Langthabla Konung with an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore and Maharaja Gambhir Singh Museum with cost of Rs 40 crore.
