MP GIS events outcome contrary to BJP’s tall claims: Kamal Nath

Amaravati, Dec 14 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited Delhi on Tuesday to attend a meeting of top leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Wednesday.

Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a key ally of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, will attend the meeting to be held at BJP President J.P. Nadda’s residence.

Naidu, who is heading the TDP-led NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, will pay tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Atal Samadhi on Wednesday morning on his birth anniversary.

The NDA meeting coincides with the 100th birth anniversary of former PM Vajpayee.

The TDP Chief is also likely to have separate meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss state-specific issues.

The NDA meeting assumes significance in view of the recent developments, especially the row over Amit Shah’s remarks about Bharat Ratna B. R. Ambedkar and the vociferous demand by the opposition parties for his resignation.

The NDA leaders at their meeting are likely to discuss a strategy to counter the Opposition’s attack.

The ruling NDA is expected to use the presence of Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to send a strong counter to the Congress party and its allies.

During the Winter session of the Parliament, Amit Shah made certain remarks about Ambedkar while participating in the debate to mark 75 years of the Constitution.

The opposition parties had termed his remarks as ‘derogatory and shameful’ and demanded his resignation.

The Congress and its allies also demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi remove Amit Shah from the Cabinet.

The meeting is also likely to discuss ensuring better coordination among NDA allies.

The leaders of the alliance are also expected to work out a joint strategy on key legislations like the ‘One Nation One Election’ and the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024.

Both the bills have been referred to the Joint Parliamentary Panel.

Gurugram, Jan 30 (IANS) The Enforcement Wing of the Gurugram Development Metropolitan Authority (GMDA) removed the illegal encroachment on GMDA green belts on 12 acres of land on Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) on Thursday.

During the drive, a total length of 8.5 km from Vatika Chowk to Ghata on both sides across sectors 49, 50, 57, 56, 58, 62 and 65 were covered.

Almost 12 acres of Golf Course Extension Road were made encroachment-free. About 40 hutments, 55 nurseries, 12 building material shops, nine scrap shops, one washing station, eight dhabas and six shops that were operating illegally were demolished.

Additionally, eight crane machines that were illegally parked were also removed.

Furthermore, GMDA also conducted a drive along with MCG on sector 62 in front of Time Residency wherein 80 jhuggis, 12 scrap shops and nine shops spread across an expanse of 1.5 acres were cleared.

The drive was held by the Enforcement team led by Nodal Officer (Gurugram) DTP RS Batth, ATPs GMDA Mange Ram and Satinder, along with the Enforcement team of GMDA were present.

At least 50 police personnel also participated in the drive and acted heavily on the encroachment. DTP GMDA also interacted with the supervisors and heads of the surrounding projects and asked them to come forward to develop the stretches of the green belt by partnering with GMDA.

He also inspected that wherever MoU has been signed between the Authority and developers to develop green belts, the work has been taken up by the organisation.

“We will continue our encroachment drives on SPR, and thereafter, monitoring rounds will also be conducted to keep the violators at bay. Due to the ongoing drives being taken up by GMDA, residents would soon see 160 acres of encroachment-free land on this stretch,” said R.S. Baath.

New Delhi, Jan 19 (IANS) Substantial evidence has begun to emerge against the controversial short-seller Hindenburg Research and its founder Nathan Anderson in a court battle in Ontario, Canada, exposing Hindenburg’s secret ties, and potential securities fraud and faulty disclosures made by the firm and the founder, according to media reports.

“There are multiple counts of securities fraud for both Nate Anderson and Anson Funds, and we have only reviewed 5 per cent of the material as of the time of writing,” said a report by Market Frauds, a Canadian online investigative news outlet.

“It is almost certain that when the entire exchange between Hindenburg and Anson reaches the SEC, Nate Anderson will be charged with securities fraud in 2025,” the report states.

Hindenburg’s decision to abruptly close down operations has taken many by surprise, particularly due to its timing — just three days before Donald Trump’s inauguration.

In November 2024, Bloomberg’s Crack Research team published an extensive report, the first in a series exposing the covert forces behind various short-sellers and research firms, including Hindenburg. The report, titled “Short-Sellers’ Secret Talks and Alliances Emerge in Court Battle”, centred on firms, including Hindenburg Research and Anson Funds, a Canada-based fund operated by Moez Kassam, of Indian origin. Denying any relationship with Anson, Hindenburg told Bloomberg that it receives “hundreds of leads each year from diverse sources. We rigorously vet each lead and have always maintained full editorial independence over our work,” it said.

Following the article, Anderson also publicly denied any partnership with Anson or anyone else. However, leaked emails suggest otherwise. Dozens of emails exchanged between Hindenburg and Sanjeev Puri of Anson in 2019 over a trade indicate that Anson took the editorial lead, with Hindenburg having little to no editorial control. It is still uncertain whether there were any financial arrangements between the two.

Sources indicate that the Adani Group, which did not sue the short-seller, initiated covert investigations with foreign intelligence partners last year to counter those working against them. Hindenburg first released its report on the Adani Group in January 2023, leading to a market valuation loss of over $150 billion.

The role of Anson in the attacks on the Adani Group remains unclear, with some reports alleging that its backers include organised crime. Marissa Siegal Kassam, the wife of Anson’s founder, and Mahua Moitra were colleagues at JP Morgan, where Moitra worked for nearly 12 years. Moitra was the one who initiated the attacks on the Adani Group in the Lok Sabha post-Hindenburg report.
