RSS should show courage to liberate Indian territory occupied by China: Shiv Sena(UBT)’s Saamana

Mumbai, Oct 7 (IANS) Shiv Sena(UBT) has criticised Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat over his recent statement about ‘Akhand Bharat (undivided India)’, demanding that he also address the issue of China’s occupation of Indian territory and help in its liberation.

The party in its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ editorial took a dig at the RSS, terming it a “non-killing army which, since PM Modi’s rule, has been moving around like an army and pretending to be the Indian army”.

“In reality, these people were nowhere in the Indian freedom struggle, and there is no record of any of their leaders going to jail during the freedom struggle. Still, Bhagwat claims that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is more capable and agile than the Indian Army. When the country needs it, the army of volunteers can be ready in just three days, but the Indian Army takes time to get ready. That is, if we accept that the non-killing army of volunteers is braver and more experienced than any Indian army, then instead of sowing the poison of Hindutva fanaticism, these people should guard the borders and the sea. That way, terrible attacks like Pulwama, Pahalgam and Uri will not happen,” taunted the Thackeray camp.

The editorial argued that the RSS should show the courage to enter Leh-Ladakh and liberate the Indian territory occupied by China. It said that everyone wants an undivided India, as it is not just the dream of the RSS but of every Indian. The area near the Indus River, which is called Sindh province, went to Pakistan during the partition of 1947. All the Sindhi people of that province came to India. The wounds of partition were more severe on the Sindhi community. Those wounds are still festering.

“In the name of Hindutva and nationalism, the BJP and the Sangh Parivar are constantly scratching the scabs of these wounds, but what is the use? For 11 years, the immense power and army of the country have been in the hands of the Sangh Parivar. They have not been able to bring even an inch of Sindh province or Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to India. However, there are endless speeches about an undivided India,”it claimed.

According to the editorial, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are all volunteers of the RSS, and asked what they are going to do to implement the idea of RSS’ Akhand Bharat? Prime Minister Modi got the opportunity to create an Akhand Bharat on the occasion of ‘Operation Sindoor’ but has wasted it.”

“We will send troops into Pakistan, which killed 26 Indians in the Pahalgam attack. We will enter Lahore, Karachi and now we will return after capturing Pakistan-occupied Kashmir,’ Prime Minister Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh roared, but due to President Trump’s diktat, the Indian Army had to withdraw. Did the Sarsanghchalak ask Prime Minister Modi and his other volunteers for an answer for not being able to bring the area occupied by Pakistan (PoK) to India? Did he take any action on why they withdrew from Pakistan after listening to President Trump? Or does he only give lectures on an Akhand Bharat?” asked the Thackeray camp.

The editorial further said that China has taken over many areas in Ladakh. “The Modi government arrested Sonam Wangchuk, who raised his voice against this, under the National Security Act. China does not want to talk about stealing India’s area… It would have been better if the RSS chief had made a clear comment on the Chinese occupation of the Indian territory. If PM Modi had not backtracked during ‘Operation Sindoor’, the Indian Army and Air Force would have been prepared to enter Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. However, due to the lack of political will at the Centre, it did not happen,” it added.

New Delhi, May 7 (IANS) The Indian Army on Wednesday said that it has hit nine locations deep inside Pakistan in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack.

“A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed,” the army in a press release said.

The Indian Army also posted on its official X handle, “Justice is Served. Jai Hind.”

“Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted. Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and the method of execution,” the army said.

It added that these steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered.

“We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable. There will be a detailed briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor’, later today,” the army said.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, also confirmed the strike on his country.

“The missile strikes were fired by India at Kotli, Bahwalpur and Muzaffarabad in a cowardly attack amid intense tensions between the two countries in the wake of a militant attack in occupied Kashmir,” the Pakistan army confirmed.

The tension between the two nuclear nations comes in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were killed, mostly tourists.

SDPI president Faizy arrested by ED in money laundering case

New Delhi, March 4 (IANS) National president of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) M.K. Faizy, an Islamic scholar and a political observer who served as a Masjid Imam in the 1980s, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), an official said on Tuesday.

Faizy, who is among the founders of the SDPI which is suspected to be the ‘political front’ of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI), was arrested on Monday night from Delhi airport in a money laundering case — a development that came close to an ED raid on his house in Kerala’s Palakkad on February 28.

Sources said Faizy was not present during the multi-agency raid on his home.

The SDPI claims itself to be an independent outfit without any connection with the PFI.

The ED, as part of its probe against the PFI in 2022, had linked Faizy with a Kerala-based PFI leader Abdul Razak BP who is alleged to have “transferred” Rs 2 lakh to the SDPI national president as part of the fund-raising activities of his (Razak’s) organisation.

The PFI and its eight affiliates were banned by the Centre in 2022 for fuelling radicalisation and was involved in terror funding.

Founded in 2009, and headquartered in Delhi, SDPI is alleged to be the political front of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI).

Before the ban on PFI in 2022, simultaneous raids and enforcement action were conducted against it by multiple agencies, including the NIA and various state police forces.

The organisation, according to officials in the investigative agencies, has “strong” influence in various pockets of Kerala and Karnataka and some other south Indian states.

In August last year, multiple raids were conducted in various parts of Tamil Nadu on the premises of former members of the outlawed PFI.

The raids were conducted in Myladuthurai, Thanjavur, Tiruchi, Coimbatore, Madurai and certain other locations.

In Muthupet (Thiruvarur), the NIA sleuths raided the residence of a lawyer suspected to be associated with the banned organisation.

Malankara Orthodox-Jacobite Church feud, SC directs Kerala HC to take a relook at contempt petitions

New Delhi/Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 30 (IANS) The vexed long-standing feud between the Malankara Orthodox and the Jacobite Churches took a new turn on Thursday when the Supreme Court set aside the directions of the Kerala High Court and asked them to take a fresh decision on the contempt petitions which had directed the state authorities to take over the possession of six churches from the latter faction and hand them over to the former faction with police help.

A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N. Kotiswar Singh directed the division bench of the High Court that there was a need to determine the true effect of the previous judgments of the Supreme Court in the church dispute and to ascertain which are the parties bound by those decisions.

“It seems to us that the High Court, while entertaining the contempt proceedings, need to determine some of the relevant issues, including, What is the true import of the decisions of this court? Who are the parties who shall be bound by the dictum of this court? Whether the decree which attained finality has been satisfied/fulfilled, if not, which part of the decree remains unfulfilled and what remedial action in that regard is required to be taken? What is the legal impact of The Kerala Right to Burial of Corpse in Christian (Malankara-Orthodox- Jacobite) Cemeteries Act, 2020 on the pending contempt petitions? Should the High Court in a dispute relating to religious affairs direct the civil administration to take over a religious place and to what extent is such an intervention desirable in the public interest?” it maintained.

The bench further pointed out that, “since we find that all the said questions require fresh consideration by the High Court, we remit the matter to the division bench to decide the fate of contempt petitions afresh after hearing all parties concerned”.

The apex court also clarified that the interim exception given to the state’s officers from appearance in the contempt petitions would continue to operate.

It was very particular about the High Court’s judgment on the issues and expressed concerns about police intervention.

“We hope you will appreciate why we are sending the matter back…let’s hope the court will find some mechanism…police force help, police going inside the religious place is what is bothering us. That’s why we are hoping the HC would find out some mechanism,” stated Justice Surya Kant.

A non-Catholic Christian community in Kerala, the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church has two factions – the majority Orthodox, who have their headquarters in Kottayam, and the Jacobites, who consider the Patriarch of Antioch in Beirut as their supreme leader. The community first split into Orthodox and Jacobite in 1912, but following a Supreme Court ruling, it came together in Kottayam for a brief period between 1958 and 1970. Since 1970, they have been at war over control of churches. After decades of trial, the apex court gave its final verdict in 2017.

Consequently, the Orthodox faction has been taking control over churches now run by the Jacobite faction. While the Orthodox faction has already taken over a few churches on directions from the High Court after the police were given specific instructions, in some churches, the Jacobite faction has been unrelenting. In terms of numbers, the Orthodox Church is a much bigger entity than the Jacobite Church.
