Six Students Missing After Boat Capsizes in Bengal’s Howrah

Kolkata: A heartbreaking incident unfolded late Thursday evening as six minor school students went missing when their boat capsized in the Rupnarayan River in West Bengal’s Howrah district.

Sources from the state Disaster Management Department revealed that these students were part of a 15-member picnic party from Howrah to Triveni Park in West Midnapore district. They had hired a country boat to cross the Rupnarayan River.

Tragedy struck on their return journey to Howrah district when the boat capsized. While nine members of the picnic party were rescued, the latest reports indicate that six students remain unaccounted for.

A joint effort involving the police and the state Disaster Management Department is underway to locate the missing schoolchildren. Divers have been deployed to assist in the search and rescue operation. The entire community is urged to extend their support during this challenging time.
