Tragedy Strikes as Explosion Claims 10 Lives in Tamil Nadu Firecracker Factory

Chennai: In a devastating incident at a private fireworks factory unit in Kundayiruppu near Sattur, Tamil Nadu, ten workers lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries in a powerful explosion.

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, swiftly announced relief measures, offering Rs 3 lakh to the families of each deceased victim and Rs 1 lakh for the injured.

The explosion, which occurred at the Winner Fireworks unit, resulted in the complete destruction of five buildings within the premises. Initial reports indicate that nine individuals were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Sivakasi government hospital, with one more succumbing to injuries shortly after.

Three workers sustained burn injuries and were promptly admitted to the Virudhunagar and Sivakasi government hospitals for urgent medical treatment. The incident has sparked widespread concern and underscores the urgent need for enhanced safety measures in industrial settings.
