US Air Force F-16 Crashes off South Korea’s West Coast; Pilot Safely Ejects

Seoul: An F-16 Fighting Falcon from the 8th Fighter Wing of the US Air Force crashed into the sea near South Korea’s west coast. The incident, described as an “in-flight emergency,” led to the pilot ejecting safely before the crash. This marks the second F-16 crash in South Korea in just over a month, with the previous incident occurring in December.

The pilot, who ejected successfully, was rescued approximately an hour later and is conscious. They have been transported to a medical facility for assessment. Colonel Matthew Gaetke, the commander of the 8th Fighter Wing, expressed gratitude to the South Korean rescuers involved in the operation and emphasized that the focus was on locating and recovering the aircraft.
