Kill terrorists and show us their bodies, say families of Pahalgam attack victims

Mumbai, April 24 (IANS) The mortal remains of Santosh Jagdale and Kaustubh Ganbote, who were killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, were brought to Pune early Thursday morning.

Chants of ‘Pakistan jala do (burn down Pakistan)’ were raised during Jagdale’s funeral procession. NCP(SP) president Sharad Pawar met the families of Santosh Jagdale and Kaustubh Ganbote and expressed grief.

The Jagdale family, shattered by the brutal killing of Santosh Jagdale, burst into tears. “Today my life has been completely ruined, I cannot see my husband anymore,” said Jagdale’s wife, Pragati Jagdale, while venting out her emotions. She also demanded in front of Sharad Pawar that those terrorists should be shot the same way they killed her husband and others.

Pragati Jagdale further narrated the entire incident. “They (terrorists) had come wearing masks. There was no one there, there should have been an officer or security guard. Further, there was a delay in treatment. They didn’t tell us anything,” she said.

She added that the terrorists did not even spare the horse puller as he resisted and told them that they should not shower bullets on the tourists. “Don’t put people’s lives in danger, people’s lives are being ruined, tell me where I am going to look. My husband is not with me, what should these children do?” she asked in despair.

“I have not been able to see my husband’s face since yesterday. While in Kashmir, we could not see his face; here, too, his face is not being revealed. Terrorists shot my husband in the head. Do something for us. Find and kill those terrorists. Terrorists shot our people in the head and took out the flesh, took out the blood, do the same with them and show us the bodies of the terrorists. Terrorists shot their father in front of the children. The children were crying then. While coming down from there, we fell into the mud. Because of this, I cannot even stand on my feet,” said Pragati Jagdale.

“The local people there also cried for us, they felt bad because everything the terrorists did was against tourists, and they attacked tourists. The officers there also cried for us, they felt bad about what had happened. The lives of family members of 26 people killed in the terror attack have been completely destroyed,” she claimed.

Meanwhile, Kaustubh Lele, who lost his cousins Sanjay Lele, Hemant Joshi and Atul Mone from Dombivli in the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday, slammed the government, asking it to first ensure safety to its citizens instead of making tall claims about becoming a trillion-dollar economy.

“Focus on bringing ‘acche din’ of safety and security in the lives of Indian citizens, then show them the dream of becoming a dollar economy. Stop show-offs, branding and making loud claims. Take adequate steps for the safety of the people,” he said, expressing his anguish. “It is a big loss for three families as they have lost the head of the families. It has created a big vacuum which cannot be filled. Terror attacks are taking place unabated. Now take some concrete and firm steps against terrorism,” he said.

Ayodhya, June 9 (IANS) As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completed 11 years in office, voices from the spiritual and religious community of Ayodhya have lauded his tenure, calling it transformative for both the nation and Sanatan values. Mahant Naval Kishore Das, spokesperson of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad and the Sant Samiti, hailed PM Modi’s leadership as a force that has elevated India spiritually, culturally, and politically.

Speaking to IANS, Mahant Naval Kishore Das said: “Prime Minister Modi’s 11-year tenure has been commendable. He has elevated the nation to a higher stature in spiritual, religious, and political realms. His vision is centred on empowering both Dharma and the nation. He works with sincere devotion towards Dharma and Vedic civilisation.”

He highlighted major religious milestones under PM Modi’s leadership, including the grand construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which he described as a symbol of Sanatan tradition.

“We are confident that a magnificent temple of Lord Krishna will also be built in Mathura. Work is ongoing in Kashi, and the Mahakal Corridor has already been constructed in Ujjain,” he said.

Quoting a traditional saying, “Yatha Raja, Tatha Praja” (As the king, so the people), Mahant Das remarked that just as PM Modi is devoted to the nation and its culture, the citizens of India are equally proud and satisfied.

“We pray to the Lord that under the political leadership of such a devoted son of Bharat Mata, the preservation and promotion of Vedic traditions continue, and that he remains capable of leading India for a long time to come,” he said.

Former Ayodhya MP and prominent saint Dr. Ram Vilas Vedanti also praised PM Modi’s 11-year term. Expressing his hopes for the future, he said: “We believe PM Modi will continue to serve the nation for another 11 years. Under his leadership, PoK will become part of India, Balochistan will become an independent nation, and Bangladesh will merge with India.”

Saint Ram Dineshacharya added: “Under PM Modi’s tenure, national pride and traditions have flourished. The dream of a strong India has become a reality. India has earned global respect. We hope this divine phase of leadership continues in the years ahead.”

Agartala gets safe drinking water across all civic areas: CM Saha

Agartala, March 19 (IANS) Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday said that purified drinking water is now being supplied to all 51 wards under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), supported by an extensive network of treatment and iron‑removal plants.

Speaking on the fifth day of the Tripura Legislative Assembly Budget Session, Saha said the urban water‑supply system has been significantly strengthened, with 31 iron‑removal plants ensuring safe drinking water across municipal areas.

He highlighted that since 2018, new treatment facilities, including a 5.50 MLD plant at Master Para and a 3 MLD plant at College Tilla, have been completed to augment supply.

Addressing concerns about occasional muddy water, the Chief Minister explained that such issues arise during infrastructure works, such as road restoration, cable or gas pipeline laying, and drain construction, which may accidentally damage pipelines.

“These are promptly repaired to restore normal supply,” he said.

He also stated that such disruptions are temporary and are addressed immediately by the concerned departments.

Saha informed the House that the AMC has launched a “Clean Your Tank” campaign to promote hygiene and safe water‑storage practices among residents.

Water supply in AMC areas is managed by the Tripura Jal Board through the DWS Division, Agartala, and four sub‑divisions. At present, 13 surface‑water treatment plants, 31 modified iron‑removal plants, and six packaged iron‑removal units supply water daily.

Providing details on water sources, the Chief Minister said that around 25 per cent of the supply comes from surface water, mainly the Howrah River, while 75 per cent is sourced from groundwater containing iron.

Citing data from the Central Ground Water Board, Saha noted that up to 60.60 per cent of groundwater resources can be safely extracted, but currently only about 10.06 per cent is being utilised.

He added that groundwater remains the primary source of drinking water in the state.

With the AMC population estimated at around 5.79 lakh, the total daily water requirement stands at approximately 78.22 million litres, based on AMRUT guidelines of 135 litres per person per day.

The Chief Minister further said that many households supplement their supply through deep tube wells and pumps.

To ensure safety, water‑quality monitoring has been strengthened, with members of self‑help groups under the “Amrit Mitra” initiative conducting door‑to‑door testing across wards.

They also raise residents’ awareness of the importance of cleaning water‑storage tanks every six months.
