Abrar Qazi on ‘Tu Hi Re Dil Mein’ completing 100 episodes: ‘Sanjay is a very special character to me’

Mumbai, Sep 24 (IANS) Actor Abrar Qazi has opened up about his journey with ‘Tu Hi Re Dil Mein’ as the show completes 100 episodes.

Reflecting on the milestone, Abrar told IANS that the show has received immense love from the audience and described his experience as a “wonderful journey.” Abrar, who plays Sanjay in the show, stated, “Tu Hi Re Dil Mein has been a wonderful journey for me as Sanjay. The show has received so much love from the audience, and I am thoroughly enjoying playing this character. Even after completing 100 episodes, it still feels like it was just yesterday that we started this journey.”

“I am truly excited to celebrate many more milestones with the show, and I hope we go from 100 to 1,000, 2,000 and many more episodes together. Sanjay is a very special character to me, and I am looking forward to growing with him through this journey. Currently, we are at a very important point in the story, where Vrinda will finally discover that Sanjay, the man she was married to, is actually Swati’s fiancé and soon-to-be husband.”

He added, “This revelation is going to change a lot of things, and there are many exciting twists coming up. I am super excited for everything that lies ahead and for the audience to witness this journey with us.”

Priyanshi Yadav, who plays Vrinda in Tu Hi Re Dil Mein, shared, “Tu Hi Re Dil Mein is a very special show for me because Vrinda has given me the opportunity to portray so many different emotions. Her innocence, the hardships she goes through and the challenges she faces make her a very layered character, and portraying all of this has been a wonderful challenge for me as an actor. We are now at a very important stage where Vrinda finally learns that Sanjay, the same man she was married to, is all set to marry her dearest Swati.”

She added, “This revelation brings a lot of emotions for Vrinda, she feels guilty, hurt and confused, and she doesn’t know what to do with everything she is feeling. This new phase is going to be another exciting challenge for me, and I am really looking forward to portraying it. I hope the audience continues to shower their love on the show, and we continue working hard and celebrate many more milestones.”

Simran Rawal, who plays Swati in the show, mentioned, “Tu Hi Re Dil Mein is extremely special to me because this is my first show as a lead, and God has been really kind. I never imagined that I would receive so much love from the audience as Swati, and I am truly grateful for it. I am so happy that I got the opportunity to play this character, and Swati will always hold a very special place in my heart.”

“Tu Hi Re Dil Mein” has completed 100 episodes. As the show reaches this milestone, the story is also set to take an interesting turn. Vrinda will soon find out that Sanjay Patel, the man she was married to, is Swati’s fiancé and is going to marry her. The show airs every day on Zee TV.

Mumbai, Aug 1 (IANS) British actress Rachel Shelley, who essayed the role of Elizabeth Russell in Aamir Khan’s iconic film Lagaan, took a trip down memory lane on Friday.

The actress shared unseen behind-the-scenes pictures featuring herself from the making of the Oscar-nominated classic.

Taking to her social media account, Rachel posted two rare pictures from the film’s shoot.

One picture shows the actress dressed in traditional Indian attire with colourful bangles, and the second picture captures her posing joyfully beside a decorated elephant in her signature Victorian-era costume from the film.

Sharing the pictures, she captioned the post as, “Hey #LagaanLovers – did I ever share these with you..? #lagaan #25yearslagaan.”

For the uninitiated, in Lagaan, Rachel essayed the role of Elizabeth Russell, the compassionate sister of the ruthless British officer Captain Andrew Russell, played by Paul Blackthorne.

Unlike her brother, Elizabeth is empathetic towards with the villagers of Champaner and secretly teaches them the game of cricket, to help them in challenging the British in the historic match.

During the course of the story, Elizabeth gradually falls in love with Bhuvan, played by Aamir Khan. She is later heartbroken after realising that Bhuvan is deeply in love with Gauri, portrayed by Gracy Singh.

Written and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and produced by Aamir Khan under Aamir Khan Productions, Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India released on June 15, 2001.

The movie starred Aamir Khan, Gracy Singh, Rachel Shelley, Paul Blackthorne, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Suhasini Mulay, Raghubir Yadav, Rajesh Vivek, Yashpal Sharma, Raj Zutshi, Akhilendra Mishra, Daya Shankar Pandey and many others in very important roles.

The music was composed by A.R. Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar.

Earlier in the month of June this year, the cast and crew of Lagaan reunited to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary with a special script-reading session of the movie.

Hina Khan applauds Gippy Grewal for bridging Punjabi Film Industry with Bollywood

Mumbai, March 21 (IANS) TV actress Hina Khan recently took to social media to praise actor and singer Gippy Grewal for his efforts in bridging the gap between the Punjabi film industry and Bollywood.

Gippy’s upcoming actioner “Akaal” will be the first Punjabi film to be released in Hindi in cinemas worldwide. Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is presenting the Hindi version of the upcoming Punjabi film. On Friday, Hina took to her Instagram handle and shared a heartfelt note wherein she shared photos from her recent reunion with Gippy and his family. In some of the images, the actress is seen striking happy poses with Gippy’s son Gurfateh Singh Grewal, aka Shinda.

For the caption, Hina wrote, “About last night. Met with my extended family, who has always been there.. Gippy you are a pure soul and you have a golden heart.. Espcially YOU my darling Rav @ravneetgrewalofficial From the moment you got to know about my diagnosis, you never stopped checking up on me and I will never forget the special PATH and ARDAAS you kept for me right before my surgery, so that everything goes well..”

The Kasautii Zindagii Kay actress added, “I have a very special bond with this family..May this family flourish with love and happiness forever Big Big Congratulations @gippygrewal for connecting the PUNJABI film industry with BOLLYWOOD in the BIGGEST way possible.. Gippy Grewal not only stars in Akaal but also serves as the director and writer of the project. The film features a talented cast, including Nimrat Khaira, Apinderdeep Singh, Mita Vashisht, Prince Kanwaljit Singh, Nikitin Dheer, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Shinda Grewal, Ekom Grewal, and Jaggi Singh in key roles.

Akaal will release in cinemas on 10th April, 2025, in Punjabi and Hindi.

Karan Johar, making his Punjabi film debut with Akaal, shared a heartfelt note expressing his pride in being associated with the project.

He wrote, “It gives me so much pride to have Dharma Productions associating with the legendary & accomplished Gippy Grewal to mark our first foray into Punjabi cinema. Rakshit Shetty on ‘777 Charlie’ winning 4 Karnataka state film awards: Feeling grateful and humbled!

Chennai, Oct 4 (IANS) Actor and director Rakshit Shetty, whose heart touching Kannada film ‘777 Charlie’ won four Karnataka state awards, has now penned a post of gratitude, thanking the jury of the awards, the audience and his team.

Taking to his X timeline, actor and director Rakshit Shetty, who won the award for Best Actor for his performance in the film, wrote, “Feeling grateful and humbled! ‘777 Charlie’ wins 4 State Awards.. 2nd Best Film, Best Actor, Best Editing & Best Lyricist. Heartfelt thanks to the jury, our amazing audience, and this incredible team. @Kiranraj61 for his vision, Pratheek for the flawless editing, and @Nagarjunsharma2 for words that touched hearts.”

For the unaware, 777 Charlie was a pan Indian film, which featured Rakshit Shetty and Sangeetha Sringeri in the lead. The film’s story revolved around a character called Dharma and his cute dog called Charlie.

Soon after the film emerged a superhit, the makers announced that they would be contributing five per cent of the film’s profits to NGOs across the country that had been dedicatedly working towards the welfare of Indie dogs and animals.

In a statement issued then, actor Rakshit Shetty, who played the lead in the film, had said that the contributions would be made in the name of Charlie.

That apart, he also said that they would be sharing 10 per cent of the film’s profits with every individual who had advanced the culmination of the film.

The actor, in a statement issued then, said, “We believe that the only way to celebrate this success is by celebrating the multitude of people who have tirelessly worked in union in bringing this film on screen. We have therefore resolved to share 10 percent of the profit that ‘777 Charlie’ makes, with every individual who has advanced the culmination of this film.

“As the makers of 777 Charlie we are aware of the kind of effort and resource that goes into creating a happy and safe environment for the animals around us. In this light, we would like to contribute 5 percent of the profit, in the name of Charlie, to NGOs across the country that have been dedicatedly working towards the welfare of Indie dogs and animals. Using our light to ignite someone else’s, will illuminate the world. Thanks to each one of you for lighting our world with your love.”
