Amaravati, Sep 17 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Thursday directed that not a single DJ vehicle during Ganesh Nimmajanam should be seized.
The minister posted on X that he is receiving messages that police are not giving permission for DJ vehicles during Ganesh Nimmajanam.
He requested Home Minister V. Anitha and Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta to ensure permissions are given without hassle. Not a single DJ vehicle should be seized, he added.
Home Minister Anitha responded to Lokesh’s tweet, saying she has issued necessary instructions to the police department to ensure that DJ permissions for Ganesh Nimmajanam are processed in accordance with the prescribed guidelines.
“The celebrations should uphold the spirit of the occasion and should not deviate from the ethos of Hindu Dharma,” she posted.
The Andhra Pradesh government is providing free electricity to Ganesh pandals across the state.
Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation (APCPDCL) on September 10 issued orders for providing free electricity supply to Ganesh pandals.
APCPDCL announced the extension of free temporary supply to the Ganesh pandals up to 3 KW in rural areas and 5 KW in urban areas under the LT Temporary supply category for nine days — from September 14 to September 22.
The orders were issued following a decision taken by the Telugu Desam Party-led NDA government.
APCPDCL directed Superintending Engineers/Operation Circles to extend free power supply to all authorised applicants/organisers of Ganesh pandals.
They have been requested to take necessary action accordingly and arrange to obtain applications from all the authorised organisers as per the proforma and to consolidate the total amount and submit the bill amount statement to the Chief General Manager/Finance/Corporate Office/APCPDCL without delay.
APCPDCL issued the orders a day after Lokesh announced that free electricity will be provided for Ganesh pandals.
“I am happy to announce that this Ganesh Chaturthi, all Ganesh pandals across Andhra Pradesh will be provided free electricity. This is a major festive initiative by our (TDP) government to support communities celebrating across the state and make the celebrations even more vibrant,” Lokesh said on social media platform X.
