Anu Mallik reacts to Salman Khan vs Varun Dhawan debate: I chose to look at the positive

Mumbai, May 29 (IANS) Composer Anu Mallik, who scored the “Chunar Chunar” track from the movie “Biwi No. 1”, has reacted on the ongoing comparison between Salman Khan and Varun Dhawan, following the release of the remake version of the song for the movie “Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai”.

For the uninitiated Varun Dhwan was badly trolled by the netizens post the release of remix version ‘Chunari Chunari’ few days back . Netizens accused him of messing up with such an iconic number and also compared his performance with Salman Khan in the original track.

During an exclusive interaction with IANS, Anu Mallik shared his views on the same and stated that as a way of life, he chooses to look at only the positive in people.

When asked to comment on the social media feedback received by the latest version of the “Chunar Chunar track, the composer said, “I think we should not get into it. Frankly, I never get into that. I don’t even think about such things. I have been a positive person all my life, and I like to see good in people. I have not been raised to see the bad in people.”

Anu Mallik further pointed out that he has been blessed to have such big stars perform his songs, taking the track to a whole new level.

“As a composer, I am Anu Mallik also because I have had great actors in my life. If have been blessed to have Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Chintu ji, Hema Ji, and others. I do a song with the mindset that if I am making the song with 100% dedication, the actor will take it to 1000%, and that is the only way I have seen life,” he stated.

Anu Mallik added that the “Chunari Chunari” song will always remain close to the hearts of music lovers.

Praising both the versions of the track, he said, “Salman took the song to a different level, and Varun has also danced his heart out.”

He concluded by saying, “I don’t want to see any negativity, I am only looking at the positives.”

Previously, singer Abhijeet Bhattachary, who had lent his voice to the original number, slammed the remake, saying that Varun cannot become Salman using his songs.

The show Bareilly Ke Bachchan, whose promo dropped in recently, revolves around how every family is flawed in its own way, and how only a rare few are willing to confront the cracks in their carefully maintained façade.

The show has been set in the bustling lanes of Bareilly, and is a satirical slice-of-life dramedy that looks at what a household turns into when it has lived for years without a woman.

Starring Pravishth Mishra as Krishna, the show promises combustible family dynamics, and comedy that lands because it feels uncomfortably familiar.

The ensemble cast along with Pravishth Mishra, also features Ramneek Kataria as Sangam, Yashpal Sharma as Ajab Singh, Kinshuk Mahajan as Ganga, Ansh Manuja as Satluj, Sachin Jeet Singh as Mahi.

Omung Kumar: Harshvardhan Rane brings blend of raw honesty, quiet intensity

Mumbai, June 2 (IANS) National Award-winning filmmaker Omung Kumar is all set to start shooting for his yet-untitled film in July with Harshvardhan Rane. The director stated that the actor was his first choice as he brings the blend of raw honesty and quiet intensity that the role demands.

“Harshvardhan was my first choice as the lead in the film, he brings a rare blend of raw honesty and quiet intensity that this role demands,” Omung said.

The yet-untitled film marks one of Harsh’s most layered roles to date as he will play a deeply internal, gritty character grappling with love, loss, and redemption, set against a high-stakes narrative backdrop. His role required both physical transformation and emotional grounding.

The actor has already begun prep with martial arts training, stunt choreography sessions, and immersive character workshops for the role. A recent look test featuring Harsh in his character avatar has reportedly left the team thrilled.

“He’s not just playing the character — he is the emotional and physical core of the film. His presence carries both vulnerability and strength, which makes his performance the very soul of the story,” the director added.

The film also stars Karan Veer Mehra and Sadia Khateeb.

Backed by Zee Studios, complementing the film’s emotional and action-packed narrative has its music by the legendary label SaReGaMa. The music is set to play a key role in amplifying the film’s impact.

The film is being mounted on a grand scale by a powerhouse collaboration — Zee Studios presents, A Blue Lotus Pictures and Stark Entertainment productions in association with Innovations India, produced by Omung Kumar, Umesh KR Bansal, Pragati Deshmukh, Himanshu Tiwari, Ajay Singh, Dhananjay Singh, Abhishek Ankur, Captain Rahul Bali, and co-produced by Rahhat Shah Kazmi.

Meanwhile, Harshvardhan is busy with “Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat”. The actor on Monday revealed that he will be shooting for the final schedule of next week. He also expressed his excitement about starting his new solo film with National Award-winning director Omung Kumar in July.

Mumbai, March 23 (IANS) Television and film producer Ektaa Kapoor penned a sincere birthday wish for her ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ star Smriti Irani on her 49th birthday.

Ektaa posted a montage of some fond memories of Smriti with her and her little bundle of joy Ravi over the years.

Her Instagram note read, “So many years of knowing you sing every side of years, a person this year has been complete 25 years of Kyunki. In a few months, I try to see us you grew into a force to reckoned with a shining star. Happy birthday, my friend, my favourite meme sharer Ravi Masi, and for a lot of people, INDIA’S TULSI.”

For the unaware, co-produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor under their banner Balaji Telefilms, the popular serial, ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ aired from 3 July 2000 to 6 November 2008 on Star Plus.

On Friday, Ektaa revealed who is the real culprit behind poor Indian content.

She penned a long note on her IG stories that read, “When Indian creators cry that Indian content is not at par with internationally acclaimed tv series n films…I wonder if it’s ego, anger or just misplaced accusations.”

She stated that when critically acclaimed movies such as “Superboys of Malegoan” and “Buckingham Murders” fail to mint money at the box office, one can only blame audiences for the lack of quality content in the country.

“When Superboys of Malegoan n my dear frn @hanslmehta the Buckingham Murders don’t work in theatres can we blame the real culprits the ‘audiences’ n since it’s no fun blaming ppl in such abstract terms (can’t bring them down on social media nA so no fun) let’s just say that major part of India is in it’s evolutionary stage as far as content is concerned! U can say it’s in it’s adolescence”, she added.
