Ayodhya, Aug 23 (IANS) The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has released captivating visuals from the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, offering devotees a glimpse of the special Sawan celebrations.

In the visuals, Ram Lalla is seen seated on a beautifully decorated swing, giving devotees an enchanting and divine darshan.

The temple premises have taken on a festive and devotional atmosphere during the holy month of Sawan, say Trust officials.

As part of the celebrations, traditional Kajri songs associated with the monsoon season are being sung before the deity, which is what contains to be an attractive feature for pilgrims.

According to officials, the soulful melodies and devotional ambience have added a special charm to the festivities, evoking a deep sense of devotion among devotees.

The sight of Ram Lalla seated on the swing has drawn widespread admiration, with devotees describing the darshan as deeply moving and spiritually uplifting, say pujaris there.

The beautifully decorated swing, the serene presence of the deity and the traditional music together create an atmosphere filled with devotion and emotion.

Kajri, a traditional folk music form particularly associated with the rainy season, holds a special place in the cultural traditions of North India. Its inclusion in the Sawan celebrations at the Ram Temple brings together devotion, music and the cultural traditions associated with the holy month.

The visuals released by the temple trust provide devotees across the country an opportunity to experience a glimpse of the celebrations at the Ram Temple.

Gujarat: Three convicted in ganja trafficking case, sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment

Surat, July 3 (IANS) Three men have been sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment each by a special court in Surat after being convicted in a ganja trafficking case involving the seizure of more than 562 kg of the narcotic, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) said on Friday.

According to the NCB’s Ahmedabad Zonal Unit, the case stemmed from an operation carried out on May 4 and 5, 2020, when officers, acting on specific and reliable intelligence, intercepted three persons at Krishna Industry in Surat’s Kim area.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 562.55 kg of ganja, which investigators said had been transported illegally from Odisha to Gujarat.

The agency said its investigation established a well-organised criminal conspiracy to transport a commercial quantity of ganja across state lines for illicit sale.

The contraband was recovered from the conscious possession of the accused, following which a case was registered under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(C) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The NCB filed a complaint before the Special NDPS Court in Surat City in October 2020.

Following the trial before the Court of the 11th Additional District Judge, Surat City, the court delivered its judgment on July 2.

The three convicted persons were identified as Kalu Charan Behra, a resident of Bilipara, Phasi, Kodala in Odisha’s Ganjam district; Sudhir Kumar Swain, a resident of Makrapoli, Gangapur, Ganjam district; and Mithun Pradhan, a resident of Bartulu, Jamuni, also in Ganjam district.

The court sentenced each of the three convicts to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on each.

The NCB said the seized contraband had already been disposed of on a pre-trial basis in accordance with the prescribed procedure.

In a statement, the NCB said, “This conviction reinforces NCB’s commitment to dismantling drug supply chains and ensures that those exploiting inter-state transport channels for narcotics trafficking face the full force of the law.”

The agency also reiterated its commitment to the national vision of a “Drug-Free India (Nasha Mukt Bharat)” and urged the public to share information related to drug trafficking through the MANAS National Narcotics Helpline on the toll-free number, stating that the identity of informants would remain strictly confidential.

TN orders anti-bribery boards in all govt offices

Chennai, July 20 (IANS) The Tamil Nadu government has launched a fresh drive to strengthen transparency in public administration by directing all government departments, district administrations, local bodies, public sector undertakings (PSUs) and government-owned companies to prominently display anti-bribery notice boards carrying the message that both giving and accepting bribes are punishable offences.

The directive was issued through a Government Order signed by Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar on July 14. It makes it mandatory for every government office to install bilingual notice boards in Tamil and English at locations that are clearly visible to the public.

The Vijay government has also instructed departments to publish the same anti-corruption message on their official websites along with a direct link to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) portal.

The order noted that despite repeated government instructions issued since 2006, many offices had failed to comply fully with the requirement. In several cases, anti-corruption boards were either not installed or were placed in locations that were not easily visible to visitors.

The latest order seeks to ensure uniform implementation of the directive across all government establishments.

The notice boards will display the message, “Bribe giving and receiving is an offence,” besides providing the DVAC’s address, telephone numbers, WhatsApp number, fax number and official email ID.

The government hopes that easy access to these details will encourage members of the public to report incidents of corruption without difficulty. Departments have also been instructed to issue similar directions to all statutory boards, corporations, local bodies, government companies and public sector undertakings functioning under their administrative control.

Officials have been asked to ensure that the instructions are implemented without delay.

To monitor compliance, inspection wings of various departments and inspection cells under district collectorates have been directed to verify whether the boards have been installed in the prescribed manner and whether the government instructions have been fully implemented in every office.

The government has further directed department secretaries and heads of departments to submit compliance reports to the Human Resources Management Department after confirming that all offices under their jurisdiction have carried out the instructions.

The latest initiative comes just days after the state launched a dedicated DVAC WhatsApp helpline, 9498180936, to enable citizens to report corruption quickly and strengthen the government’s ongoing efforts to promote transparency and accountability in public administration.

Cong gave away Hindu-majority areas where Ambedkar won to Pakistan: Union Minister

Bengaluru, April 11 (IANS) Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, on Friday, launched a scathing attack on the Congress, saying the party had insulted B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, at every step.

He alleged that Congress gave away constituencies with a Hindu majority, where Ambedkar had won, to Pakistan as part of its malicious strategy.

Now, the party is shedding crocodile tears to woo Dalit votes, he added.

Speaking at the inauguration of the “Bheem Hejje” centenary celebration in Bengaluru, Union Minister Joshi accused the Congress of deliberately undermining Ambedkar’s electoral victories.

“Bheem Hejje” event marks Ambedkar’s speech at a 1925 conference of the Hitakarini Sabha in Nippani town of Belagavi district in Karnataka.

He claimed that the constituencies of Jessore, Khulna, and Haridpur — where Ambedkar had support — were handed over to Pakistan.

He said that Congress has continuously disrespected Ambedkar from the pre-Independence era to the present.

The current Congress government in Karnataka not celebrating the centenary of Bheem Hejje is another example of this ongoing disregard, he added.

According to Union Minister Joshi, when Ambedkar tried to enter the Constituent Assembly through elections, Congress defeated him twice through conspiracies.

The Union Minister said that Ambedkar finally got elected from Bengal on the insistence of Dalit leader Jogendranath Mandal, but even then, Congress couldn’t tolerate his win and ensured the Hindu-majority constituencies he won were ceded to Pakistan.

In the first Lok Sabha election in 1952, when Ambedkar contested from Mumbai North, Congress allegedly fielded their close party aide to defeat him, he added.

Prime Minister late Jawahar Lal Nehru himself campaigned against Ambedkar, Union Minister Joshi said.

Ambedkar was again defeated in the 1954 Bhandara by-election, he added.

The same Congress party that awarded a Padma Bhushan to Narayan Kajrolkar — who defeated Ambedkar — denied him the Bharat Ratna award, the Union Minister said.

They didn’t even allow the unveiling of Ambedkar’s portrait in Parliament or allocate proper space for his cremation in Delhi, forcing his followers to carry out the last rites on a beach in Mumbai, Union Minister Joshi claimed.

He noted that it was the BJP-supported V.P. Singh government in 1990 that finally honoured Ambedkar with the Bharat Ratna.

It was due to Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s insistence that Ambedkar’s portrait was installed in Parliament, he said.

Union Minister Joshi also mentioned that Ambedkar was the first Indian to earn a PhD in economics.

He alleged that Ambedkar had written a letter to Nehru’s government while resigning from the party, outlining how the Congress humiliated him and opposed reservations for the Dalits and OBCs.

He claimed that Ambedkar’s letter has been erased from history by the Congress.

Union Minister Joshi said that when Ambedkar provided constitutional reservations for Dalits, Nehru opposed them and wrote to all Chief Ministers against it.

Later, former PM late Rajiv Gandhi also gave long speeches against reservations for Dalits and OBCs, he added.

He said that today’s Congress leaders carry the same mindset, merely using Dalits, OBCs, and Muslims as vote banks.

Union Minister Joshi alleged that Congress’s anti-Dalit mindset is hereditary — from Nehru to Rajiv Gandhi.

Recently, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge was also insulted by being made to sit on a side sofa rather than being given a prominent seat during a Congress event, he added.

Union Minister Joshi criticised the Karnataka-led Congress government for ignoring the Bheem Hejje centenary celebration, despite celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s visit to Belagavi with grandeur.

He said that the Congress-led state government should have convened an all-party meeting and organised the event respectfully by involving Dalit leaders and thinkers.

He added that BJP is commemorating the centenary of Bheem Hejje — marking Ambedkar’s speech at a 1925 conference of the Hitakarini Sabha in Nippani — over five days in different parts of the state.

The concluding ceremony will be held on April 15 in Nipani, with a bike rally from Bengaluru to Nipani.

Opposition leaders R. Ashoka, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, BJP MP Govind Karjol, and various Dalit leaders participated in the inauguration of the event in Bengaluru.
