BRS appoints Ravichandra as leader of Parliamentary Party

Hyderabad, July 9 (IANS) Telangana’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has appointed its Rajya Sabha member, Vaddiraju Ravichandra, as the leader of the BRS Parliamentary Party.

BRS President Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) appointed Ravichandra as the leader of the BRS Parliamentary Party and BRS floor leader in the Rajya Sabha.

K.R. Suresh Reddy, who was heading the Parliamentary Party, recently completed his term as a Rajya Sabha member.

Ravichandra was previously serving as the deputy leader of BRS Parliamentary Party.

KCR had sent Ravichandra to the Rajya Sabha for a second term in recognition of the services he rendered to the party and to the Backward Classes and Bahujan communities, the BRS said in a release.

Ravichandra was originally selected for a Rajya Sabha nomination in 2022 to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Dr Banda Prakash Mudiraj, who was moved to the Legislative Council.

After Ravichandra’s term ended in April 2024, KCR re-nominated him to the Rajya Sabha for the second term. He was subsequently named deputy leader of the BRS Parliamentary Party.

Ravichandra’s term as Rajya Sabha member ends in April 2030. He currently serves as a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Coal and Mines.

Following his appointment as BRS parliamentary party leader, Ravichandra conveyed his heartfelt thanks to BRS President KCR and Working President K.T. Rama Rao for naming him as the Parliamentary Party leader.

Expressing happiness at being appointed as the Parliamentary Party leader, in addition to being sent to the Rajya Sabha twice, he said that he humbly accepts this significant responsibility.

He pledged to powerfully voice the concerns of the people of Telangana in the Parliament and vowed to work tirelessly to further strengthen the party and ensure KCR becomes the Chief Minister for a historic third term.

Following Suresh Reddy’s retirement, the BRS currently has three members in the Rajya Sabha – Ravichandra, D. Damodar Rao and Dr Bandi Parthasaradhi Reddy.

The BRS has no representation in the Lok Sabha as it drew a blank in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

In his post, PM Modi emphasised that Somnath Dham has played a vital role in awakening the collective consciousness of people for centuries, serving as a symbol of unwavering faith and inner strength.

“The grand legacy of the sacred and pure Somnath Dham has been awakening the consciousness of people for centuries. The divine energy emanating from here will continue to illuminate the lamp of faith, courage, and self-respect for ages to come,” the Prime Minister wrote.

PM Modi also shared a Sanskrit shloka reflecting the spiritual essence of Somnath and its association with Lord Shiva. The verse highlights Somnath as a sacred and supremely powerful region where spiritual perfection and liberation are attained.

“Lord Shiva, in his form as Adinath, for the welfare of all beings, manifested this sacred and supremely powerful region (Prabhas Khanda) through his eternal principle. Bathed in divine radiance, this holy place is where humans attain spiritual perfection, virtue, and liberation moksha,” the verse means (loosely translated from Sanskrit).

Earlier on Thursday, ahead of his scheduled visit to Somnath on January 11 to participate in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv celebrations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared memories from his earlier visits to the Somnath Temple, highlighting the resilience of faith despite repeated historical attacks on the shrine.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the Prime Minister said that the assault on the Somnath Temple in January 1026, followed by several subsequent attacks, failed to weaken the spiritual resolve of the people. “The Somnath Swabhiman Parv is commencing auspiciously from today. A thousand years ago, in January 1026, the Somnath Temple endured the first attack in its history. The attack of the year 1026 and the numerous assaults that followed thereafter could not shake our eternal faith. On the contrary, these strengthened the sentiment of India’s cultural unity, and the Somnath Temple was repeatedly revived and rebuilt. I am sharing some pictures from my previous visits to Somnath. If you have also been to Somnath, please do share your pictures with #SomnathSwabhimanParv,” PM Modi wrote.

The Somnath Swabhiman Parv is being organised to mark 1,000 years since the first major attack on the Somnath Temple in 1026, and celebrates the enduring spirit of the sacred shrine and India’s cultural resilience, as the temple was rebuilt repeatedly after multiple destructions by invaders over the centuries.

Telecom PLI creates 25,000 manufacturing jobs, hits exports worth Rs 13,000 crore: Minister

New Delhi, Jan 24 (IANS) In the telecom sector, production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes have resulted in 25,000 manufacturing jobs and exports worth Rs 13,000 crore, Union Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, said on Saturday.

Addressing a Rozgar Mela in Shivagangai, Tamil Nadu, the minister said the Rozgar Mela is not just about appointment letters but about creating opportunities, dignity and a stronger nation.

“The Rozgar Mela reflects India’s confidence in its youth and its commitment to inclusive national progress,” the minister said, adding that when India moves forward, it moves forward together, ensuring growth with dignity and opportunity for all.

He noted that initiatives such as ‘Skill India’, ‘Make in India’ and ‘Digital India’ have laid a strong foundation for youth to succeed across traditional and emerging sectors.

The Rozgar Mela, he said, is another step towards empowering India’s youth.

Dr Chandra Sekhar described Tamil Nadu as a hub of talent and innovation.

Chennai contributes over 10 per cent of India’s automobile exports, while the IT sector employs more than six lakh professionals.

He added that skill development and entrepreneurship initiatives have enabled thousands to transform aspirations into livelihoods, and the Rozgar Mela builds on this legacy of empowerment.

He further informed that over 10 lakh appointment letters have been distributed across the country under the Rozgar Mela initiative so far, and 51,000 jobs are being provided nationwide as part of the current programme.

He urged job seekers to seize the opportunity to learn, grow and contribute to India’s journey towards becoming a global powerhouse.

Calling upon newly-appointed candidates to play their role in achieving the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, the Minister of State emphasised the importance of transparency, speed and empathy in governance. He highlighted India’s economic progress, marked by flourishing startups, expanding manufacturing and digital innovation.

As 2025 ends, these words of wisdom from PM Modi offer lessons for youth

New Delhi, Dec 31 (IANS) As the eventful 2025 draws to an end and the New Year arrives, triggering spirited celebrations across the world, the Modi Archive – a popular social media handle on X, has shared a collection of ‘life lessons’ from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which could serve the youth well in navigating through their lives.

Wading through various speeches and quotes by PM Modi over the decades, the Modi Archive has shared a rare collection of his inspirational messages – reflecting his courage and determination to bring a turnaround in the lives of people, while also inspiring enough to be emulated by others.

The video, the ‘words of wisdom’ by PM Modi, revealed the power of positive thinking, never-say-die attitude, overcoming insurmountable challenges, shaping lives through one’s thoughts and also lighting a lamp for the unprivileged.

Emphasising the power of positive thinking and its ability to change our lives, PM Modi said, “We should always be optimistic about life, and there shouldn’t be any space for negativity. This happens when we encourage and instil positive thinking in ourselves as well as our surroundings. There is inherent power in positive thinking, and it has the potential to change the world around you.”

He further said, “If a storm arises in the ocean, we can’t change it, but we can certainly alter the course of the ship we are sailing on; we know for sure how to change its direction.”

In the video, PM Modi is also heard sharing the “real formula” of success.

“If your heart is clear, if you have clarity in your ideas, have conviction to do and have courage to face the odds, I am sure one can achieve his/her goals,” he said in the undated speech.

Sharing insights on turbulence and turmoil in one’s life and how to ward it off, he explained, “just like the weather undergoes routine change throughout the year, life has its own ups and downs. As we navigate through any phase, clouds come and pass, sometimes the sun shines bright, while at times, moonlight takes away the spotlight. One should stay focused on the goal and shouldn’t waver from one’s path. One should keep following his path with conviction. There is no need to doubt yourself, as sooner or later, this will become a reality.”

He also underlined the importance of putting effort above monetary returns, stating that once this priority is set, it automatically paves the way for success.

“The desire to do good work should override the desire to earn good money. If one desires to do good work, it automatically leads to better outcomes,” he explained.

Highlighting the fact “your thoughts shape your future”, he said, “Our future doesn’t hinge on our future action, rather it’s an outcome of our present work. What shapes tomorrow is the way we think about it today. Those who keep whining about the past can never build a beautiful tomorrow.”

He further advised fellow workers and youth to keep chasing success by putting in maximum effort and not worrying about it.

“We must move forward with a positive attitude. If we keep trying with conviction and dedication – success does follow, it is my firm belief,” he said.

The video concluded with his message for lighting a lamp in the lives of those, where darkness has taken over.

“There might be a thick layer of darkness with no relief in sight, but is it forbidden to lighten a lamp? Come forward, take a step to light up those homes where there are no lights,” the Prime Minister said in a moving message.
