Hyderabad, July 24 (IANS) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Friday accused the Modi government of betraying the aspirations of millions of students and unemployed youth while refusing to take responsibility for repeated examination irregularities.
He said the country was witnessing a dangerous trend in which those demanding accountability were being targeted instead of those responsible for failures.
KTR was addressing a massive gathering of students and youth at Indira Park in Hyderabad to express solidarity with students protesting in New Delhi.
He demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him morally accountable for repeated examination irregularities and the Centre’s failure to safeguard students’ interests. He urged the Union Government to engage in meaningful dialogue with the agitating students instead of resorting to repression and intimidation.
KTR said the overwhelming participation reflected growing anger against the Centre’s handling of issues affecting young people, particularly the NEET paper leak and the alleged crackdown on student protests.
He asserted that the youth’s voice cannot be silenced through force or intimidation and that every attempt to suppress democratic dissent would only strengthen the movement.
Calling upon the youth to remain united and democratic in their struggle, KTR said the fight was not merely against paper leaks or repression, but for justice, accountability and the future of India’s youth.
The BRS leader asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to underestimate Gen Z and youth, saying the voice of India is changing and a new generation of ideas is reshaping the nation’s politics.
Citing the examples of Nepal and Sri Lanka, KTR remarked that when youth unite, they can bring down governments. He predicted that this generation, unafraid of death, will rise and challenge the government.
He alleged that while the Centre was suppressing the voices of students and youth, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was helping divert public attention from the Centre’s failures.
KTR said instead of leading a united fight against the Centre on an issue affecting students across the country, the Telangana Chief Minister had chosen to target the BRS for political gains.
He accused Revanth Reddy of double standards, of avoiding confrontation with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while attempting to divert attention by attacking the opposition.
He said the people of Telangana expected the State government to stand firmly with students and youth, not act as a shield for the BJP.
He asserted that the Centre and the State government had both failed the younger generation, one by suppressing their voices and the other by refusing to challenge that suppression.
