Helena Bonham Carter’s role in ‘The White Lotus’ to be recast as actress exits Season 4

Mumbai, April 25 (IANS) Actress Helena Bonham Carter is exiting the cast of “The White Lotus” Season 4.

“With filming just underway on season four of ‘The White Lotus,’ it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” HBO said in a statement, reports variety.com.

“The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks. HBO, the producers and Mike White are saddened that they won’t get to work with her, but remain ardent fans and very much hope to work with the legendary actress on another project soon.”

Bonham Carter was announced as part of the upcoming cast in January.

Besides Bonham Carter, the full cast for Season 4 has been revealed to include Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani and Nadia Tereszkiewicz. Additional cast includes Chloe Bennet, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer and Laura Smet.

Season 4 takes place in France, including Paris and multiple locations along the French Riviera. Series creator Mike White is the writer, director, and executive producer. David Bernad and Mark Kamine also executive produce.

Last week, HBO announced that filming had officially begun on the French Riviera.

“The fourth season will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week, taking place during the Cannes Film Festival,” the official synopsis reads.

Hotels featured include the Airelles Chateau de la Messardière as the White Lotus du Cap and the Hôtel Martinez as the White Lotus Cannes. In addition to Cannes, the season will film in St. Tropez, Monaco and Paris, though the story will remain set in the Cote d’Azur.

In TV, Bonham Carter is a five-time Emmy nominee, including two for “The Crown” along with “Merlin,” “Live From Baghdad,” and “Burton and Taylor.” She has received two Oscar nominations in her career — one for best supporting actress for “The King’s Speech” and the other for best actress for “The Wings of the Dove.”

She is also a nine-time Golden Globe nominee. Her other film credits include “Fight Club” and the “Harry Potter” film franchise.

Sree Vishnu-starrer ‘Mrithunjay’ to hit screens on February 27

Chennai, Feb 5 (IANS) The makers of director Hussain Sha Kiran’s upcoming thriller Mrithunjay, featuring actors Sree Vishnu and Reba John in the lead, have now announced that the film will hit screens worldwide on February 27 this year.

Actor Sree Vishnu took to his Instagram page to share the release date poster of the film. He wrote, “27th February it is for #Mrithyunjay to win your hearts in theatres.See you all with a thrilling tale.”

Actress Reba John, who plays the female lead in the film, too shared the release date poster on her social media pages and said, “My next. Every answer raises a deadlier question. #Mrithyunjay arrives in cinemas on Feb 27th.”

It may be recalled that Light Box Media, the firm producing the film, had taken to its X timeline to share the YouTube link to the film’s title teaser. It had then said, “Every clue matters. Every move is a risk. But in this game – Jay decides when it’s over.”

Actor Sree Vishnu too had shared the link to the title teaser when it released last year. He had then said, “A New me. A New game. I see it. Now, it’s your turn. #Mrithyunjay This one hits different. Thank you to the entire team for the wishes.”

The film’s title teaser gave away the fact that the film would be an interesting crime thriller and that Reba John plays a cop in the film. However, it is unclear as to what role Sree Vishnu plays in the film although a fleeting glimpse of Sree Vishnu in the title teaser has led viewers to believe he plays a convict in prison.

The film, directed by Hussain Sha Kiran, has triggered huge interest in fans and film buffs. The film has been produced by Sandeep Gunnam and Vinay Chilakapati and is being presented by Ramya Gunnam.

Music for the film is by Kaala Bhairava and editing is by renowned editor Sreekar Prasad. Cinematography for the film is by Vidyasagar and production design is by: Manisha.

Kajol’s quip on Saif Ali Khan, Amrita Singh’s age gap: She brought you up well

Mumbai, Oct 9 (IANS) Bollywood actress Kajol shared a witty remark on the age difference between Saif Ali Khan and his ex-wife Amrita Singh as she praised her role in shaping Saif.

In the tongue-in-cheek chat show “Two Much With Twinkle and Kajol,” Saif Ali Khan opened up about his early marriage to Amrita Singh at the age of 21 while discussing love, relationships and marriage.

Kajol said: “You got married pretty young, at 21, actually.”

Reflecting on his marriage to Amrita, Saif called her guidance during his initial film industry days invaluable.

He said: “So, I mean, I’ve spoken about it a lot. Obviously, 21 is young, and things change, and we know that things didn’t work out. But apart from having two wonderful children, I don’t think I’ve said before how important Amrita was in my life to help me understand my way through the film industry, as well as understand quite a few things.”

“And her kind of contribution and help at that time was something that’s been quite invaluable. So, it’s a pity things did not work out,” he said.

To which, Kajol cheekily said: “She brought you up well.”

Akshay then pointed at Kajol and everyone in the room laughed.

Saif recalled that Amrita helped him with “some learnings”.

“And, like I said, a wonderful mum. But I’m very lucky. I think my ex-wife and I get along well enough to usually speak about important things, usually when I’m in a hospital bed,” he said.

To which, Twinkle said: “But you’ll land up in the hospital quite often.”

Akshay then hilariously asked if Saif has a hospital dedicated to him, to which, Saif humorously said: “They’ve named a room after this.”

Twinkle chimed in: “Unsafe Saif.”

“Too many times, accidents have happened to me,” pat came the reply from Saif.
