Ujjain, July 12 (IANS) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will address ‘Nishadraj Sammelan’ in Ujjain on Saturday, aimed at increasing the income of the fishing community and accelerating the state’s fisheries-driven development model.

The conference will be organised by the Madhya Pradesh Fisheries Federation (MPFF) and the Department of Fisheries, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of fisheries as a growth driver.

Thus state-level ‘sammelan’ at the Kalidas Sanskrit Academy premises in Ujjain is expected to witness a large gathering of fishers from across the state.

The programme will commence at 1 p.m., according to the official statement.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Yadav will virtually perform the ‘bhoomipoojan’ for several major initiatives, including 453 Smart Fish Parlours worth Rs 22.65 crore.

He will also perform ‘bhoomipoojan’ of an aquapark being built at a cost of Rs 40 crore and enhanced fish production and employment generation through 3,060 cages at Indira Sagar Reservoir with a total investment of Rs 91.80 crore during the event.

CM Yadav will also distribute sanction letters for 430 motorcycles equipped with ice boxes and 100 units, sanction letters for 396 fish cages and feed mill beneficiaries and awards to outstanding fishermen and fisheries cooperative societies for exemplary work.

Additionally, the Chief Minister will transfer Rs 9.63 crore in deferred wages to members of the State Fisheries Federation with a single click and will also distribute royalty cheques.

The government stated that Madhya Pradesh has a total water area of 4.42 lakh hectares, with fish farming conducted in 4.40 lakh hectares.

The government claimed the state had achieved 98 per cent of its targeted fish production last year, producing 3.81 lakh metric tonnes. There are 2,595 registered fishermen cooperative societies with 95,417 members actively involved in fish farming.

Later in the evening, Chief Minister Yadav is scheduled to leave for New Delhi.

Patna, March 16 (IANS) Amid the voting for five seats of the Rajya Sabha in Bihar, political circles were abuzz on Monday, after two members of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi’s family were seen exiting the chamber of the Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav inside the state Assembly.

The development drew attention as voting for the Rajya Sabha elections was underway in the state Assembly.

Deepa Manjhi, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) MLA from Imamganj and daughter-in-law of Jitan Ram Manjhi, along with her mother Jyoti Manjhi, were seen coming out of Tejashwi Yadav’s chamber after a brief interaction.

Shortly after they exited the room, Akhtarul Iman, State All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President, and A.D. Singh of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) were also seen leaving the chamber.

The meeting quickly sparked speculation in political circles, particularly within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

However, both Deepa Manjhi and Jyoti Manjhi clarified that they had entered Tejashwi Yadav’s room by mistake and that there was no political significance to the interaction.

According to sources, the two leaders had reached the state Assembly before the voting process began and briefly stepped into the chamber for a short conversation before leaving.

Despite the clarification, the incident triggered discussions in political corridors, with some observers interpreting it as a routine courtesy call while others linked it to internal political equations.

Leaders of Manjhi’s party, the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), also dismissed the incident as an inadvertent entry.

Jitan Ram Manjhi’s family holds several elected positions in Bihar’s political landscape.

Manjhi himself won the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Gaya seat and currently serves as the Union Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Minister.

His son Santosh Kumar Suman is a member of the Bihar Legislative Council and also serves as a Minister in the current state government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Meanwhile, Deepa Manjhi is the MLA from Imamganj, while Jyoti Manjhi represents Barachatti Assembly constituency in the Bihar Assembly.

Voting is currently being held for 37 Rajya Sabha seats across 10 states in the country.

In Bihar, elections are taking place for five seats, with a polling station set up inside the Bihar Assembly.

Patna, Nov 14 (IANS) Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers and BJP leaders, Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhary, are leading with significant numbers in their respective Assembly constituencies, early trends showed on Friday

As the NDA eyes a landslide victory, the early trends from the Election Commission of India (ECI) at noon showed Samrat Choudhary leading with over 28,000 votes in the Tarapur Assembly seat, while RJD’s Arun Kumar is trailing with a difference of over 6,000 votes.

Meanwhile, after initially trailing, Vijay Kumar Sinha is now ahead with over 20,000 votes in the Lakhisarai Assembly seat, leaving Congress’ Amaresh Kumar behind with a difference of over 5,300 votes.

Additionally, early trends also show the BJP emerging as the largest party in the Bihar Assembly elections, currently leading in 85 out of the 243 seats.

As of noon, the BJP was ahead in 85 seats, confirming its position as the single largest party, while the Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) was leading in 77 seats.

Both parties, which are allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), are aiming for victory to form a government again under Nitish Kumar.

Just one hour earlier, at 11.00 a.m., the JD(U) was leading in 83 seats, while the BJP was ahead in 78 seats.

The dynamics shifted dramatically within the next half-hour, as the allied parties competed closely for the title of the largest party.

The NDA is currently leading in 188 seats, with the Mahagathbandhan following at 47.

The counting process for all 243 Assembly seats commenced at 8 a.m., beginning with the scrutiny of postal ballots. This was followed by the counting of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) votes from 8.30 a.m., taking place under extensive multi-tier security arrangements across the state.

Candidates from both alliances expressed confidence in their performance. Leaders from the NDA asserted that the people of Bihar had reposed faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantees and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s work toward the state’s development.

The Mahagathbandhan, led by the RJD, claimed that Bihar had “voted for change” and expressed optimism that Tejashwi Yadav would form the next government.

The counting operations are being overseen by 243 Returning Officers and an equal number of Counting Observers appointed by the Election Commission.

Over 18,000 counting agents representing various candidates are present at the centres to monitor the process closely.

Entry into counting centres has been strictly restricted to individuals with valid passes, and the use of mobile phones inside counting halls has been completely prohibited.

The election witnessed participation from more than 70 crore voters who cast their ballots to decide the fate of both the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan. The polling was held in two phases, on November 6 and 11.

In the outgoing Assembly, the NDA holds 131 seats, comprising BJP’s 80, JD(U)’s 45, four of HAM(S) and two Independents. The Opposition bloc has 111 seats, with the RJD holding 77, Congress 19, CPI(ML) 11, CPI(M) two and CPI two.
