Bengaluru: Health Minister UT Khader has demanded an apology from Karnataka Legislative Council Leader of Opposition Chalavadi Narayanaswamy over his reported remark that Congress leaders should be “chopped into pieces and thrown into the Arabian Sea”.
Condemning the statement, Khader said such language was unbecoming of a person holding a constitutional position and went beyond political criticism. He alleged that the remark could encourage violence among party workers.

Khader said the Arabian Sea was a source of livelihood for thousands of families along the Karnataka coast. Referring to the fishing community, he said people from different castes and religions worked together at sea, supporting one another in difficult conditions.
He said the sea should not be associated with statements that promote hatred, adding that coastal communities were built on values of harmony and brotherhood.
Khader demanded that Narayanaswamy apologise to the people of Karnataka. He also asked the BJP leadership to clarify whether it endorsed the remarks made by the opposition leader.
