M R Bharathi: ‘Cycle Gap’ is a relationship drama in which music forms the emotional bridge between the characters

Chennai, May 8 (IANS) Director M R Bharathi, who is best known for having directed ‘Azhiyadha Kolangal 2’, has now disclosed that his upcoming film, ‘Cycle Gap’, will be a musical triangle love story in which music will form the emotional bridge between the characters.

Giving out more details, Bharathi said, “Music has always had the power to express emotions that words cannot.’Cycle Gap’ is a relationship drama where music becomes the emotional bridge between the characters. We wanted the film to feel contemporary in presentation while retaining the soul of classic musical romances.”

For the unaware, M R Bharathi has consistently explored emotionally layered narratives through his films. His critically appreciated ‘Azhiyadha Kolangal 2’ earned recognition for its mature emotional storytelling, while his recent outing ‘Dream Girl’ drew attention for its unconventional exploration of love, dreams, and memory.

Continuing his artistic journey, Bharathi now presents ‘Cycle Gap’, a youthful romantic musical designed to resonate with today’s generation through emotionally driven storytelling and a strong musical backbone.

Talking about the film, the film’s producer and lead actor Nawaz said, “As someone passionate about cinema, I have always admired how musical love stories stay with audiences for years. ‘Cycle Gap’ has been designed with that emotional intent. Bharathi sir’s storytelling carries realism, poetry, and strong emotional depth. Through Tube Light Productions, we wanted to create a film that feels youthful, visually fresh, and musically memorable.”

Produced by Tube Light Productions, ‘Cycle Gap’ will feature Nawaz and newcomer Sherry Agarwal in the lead. The film will also feature Prabhu Shasta in a pivotal role, shaping the film’s layered romantic narrative.

The film features music composed by debutant Sathish Padmanabhan, with vocals by Naresh Iyer, Srinisha Jayaseelan, and Kaushik Shridharan, positioning it as a strong music-led cinematic experience. The project is spearheaded by Executive Producer Suja Suriya Nila, with cinematography by Solomon Boaz DS, editing by Saravana Edayagnanam, and dialogues by Hemanth Selvaraj.

On September 30th, Shilpa and her businessman husband, Raj Kundra, performed Kanya Poojan at their Mumbai home on the auspicious occasion of Maha Ashtami.

Shilpa shared a clip on her official Instagram handle in which the husband and wife were seen doing Kanya poojan of their daughter, Samisha. The couple washed the feet of their little one, put a tilak on her forehead, and later took her blessings.

After their daughter, Shilpa, and Raj performed poojan of other Kanyas who visited their home, serving them the chole, puri, and halwa prasad.

Shilpa’s actress sister, Shamita, and mother Sunanda were also seen serving the prasad to the little Kanjakas.

Posting the video of the celebration on social media, Shilpa penned, “On this sacred day of Maha Ashtami, we perform Kanya Poojan like every year with devotion, seeking the blessings of Maa Mahagauri. (Flower emoji) May Maa shower us all with happiness, peace and prosperity. Jai Mata Di(folded hands emoji) (sic).”

Vishal Dadlani mocks 10-hour ‘Vande Mataram’ debate in Parliament: India’s unemployment problem has been solved

Mumbai, Dec 10 (IANS) Composer and singer Vishal Dadlani took to social media to mock Parliament following the 10-hour-long debate over Vande Mataram.

In an ironic tone, the singer highlighted the prolonged parliamentary session on Vande Mataram. Vishal criticized the parliament for spending 10 hours debating the song instead of focusing on more pressing issues. He sarcastically said that because of this long debate, problems like unemployment, the Indigo issue, and air pollution have supposedly been “solved,” pointing out that these real issues weren’t even discussed.

Taking to his Instagram handle, Vishal posted a video of him where he is heard saying, “Hello, brothers and sisters. I have good news for you. Yesterday, our parliament debated on Vande Mataram for 10 hours. Vande Mataram is a very famous and well-known folk song written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. People love it. It was debated in the parliament.”

He added, “And because of this debate, let me tell you, India’s unemployment problem has been solved. The Indigo problem has been solved. The air pollution problem has been solved. Imagine! A debate was held on a poem for 10 hours. These things were not even mentioned, but all these things have been solved because of this debate. This debate costs Rs.2.5 lakh per minute of your tax money in the parliament. 10 hours means 600 minutes. Count it.”

Sharing the video, the music composer wrote in the caption, “Happy news for everyone!! And congratulations to India!”

For the unversed, during the Winter Session of Parliament, a 10-hour-long debate was held on the national song Vande Mataram, penned by the renowned Bengali poet and novelist Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875.

December 8 marked the 150th anniversary of the iconic song. During the session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at length about the cultural and historical significance of Vande Mataram.

Hugh Grant tells why he has ‘forbidden’ his wife to watch his film ‘Nine Months’

Los Angeles, Jan 7 (IANS) Hollywood star Hugh Grant has “forbidden” his wife from watching his “Nine Months” because he thinks he was not good in it.

The star, who has been married to Anna Elisabet Eberstein since 2018, starred in the 1995 romcom ‘Nine Months’ alongside Julianne Moore but even though he thinks highly of everyone involved in it, he feels as if he was on the one drawback.

He told variety.com: “Let me stress, everyone involved with (‘Nine Months’), with the exception of me, was brilliant and talented. It was just me that let it down. “My wife wants to watch it, but I’ve forbidden her. I’ve put parental controls on the screen so that you can’t get it.”

Over his four-decade-long Hollywood career, Grant has appeared in popular romcoms such as ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ and ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’. He said that while they can be “hard work” to film, he has learned in more recent years that they achieve a longevity because of the “pain” often involved in the plot.

He said: “They’re hard. And with the benefit of time, I really appreciate the good ones I did. The Richard Curtis ones are really about pain. It’s something my wife spotted. She’s Swedish; they’re good on pain.”

“She was watching ‘Love Actually,’, and she said, “Everyone’s in pain, and the humour is all a means for dealing with pain,” reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“That’s what makes them sustain and not float away like a piece of fluff. The Marc Lawrence ones I did are also great because he genuinely loves people and there’s a warmth that I find enchanting.”

“Nine Months” is a 1995 American romantic comedy directed by Chris Columbus. The film also stars Tom Arnold, Joan Cusack, Jeff Goldblum and Robin Williams. It is a remake of the French film “Neuf mois” and served as Grant’s first US starring role.
