Maha: Revised FYJC admission schedule announced amid heavy rains, deadline extended to July 8

Mumbai, July 6 (IANS) In light of the torrential rains battering several parts of Maharashtra and subsequent holidays declared for schools and junior colleges, the Directorate of School Education on Monday announced a revised schedule for Special Round-1 of the Class 11 (FYJC) Centralised Online Admission Process.

According to the official announcement, the deadline for students to secure and confirm their allotted seats has been extended until July 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM.

Educational authorities have urged students, parents, and junior colleges to complete the remaining formalities promptly in accordance with the updated timeline.

Heavy downpours in multiple districts have led to temporary closures of educational institutions across the state. This severe weather disruption left numerous students unable to travel to their allotted colleges for physical verification of required documents.

Acknowledging these logistical challenges, the Directorate of Education extended the Special Round-1 cutoff to provide relief to affected applicants.

For the academic year 2026-27, the centralised online admission process is being conducted across 9,688 junior colleges in Maharashtra. Official data shows that of the 1,473,420 registered students, 1,008,094 have successfully secured admission.

Authorities have strongly advised the remaining unassigned or unconfirmed students to utilise this extended window to finalise their applications. Students who have been allotted seats in Special Round-1 must physically report to their respective junior colleges with all necessary original documents for verification. Once the college approves the paperwork, candidates must log into the official portal and select the ‘Proceed for Admission’ option to finalise their enrolment.

Authorities warned that failing to do so within the stipulated timeframe will result in forfeiture of the allotted seat.

As per the revised notification, the schedule for the subsequent admission round will be released on July 8, 2026, at 6:00 PM. Following this, a comprehensive list detailing the vacant seats across various junior colleges in the state will be published on July 10, 2026. Applicants interested in participating in the upcoming rounds are advised to closely monitor these dates.

While the extension was granted purely due to the emergency rain situation, Mahesh Palkar, Director of School Education (Secondary and Higher Secondary), emphasised that stakeholders should not take further extensions for granted.

He urged parents and students to rely solely on official updates published on the dedicated portal, https://mahafyjcadmissions.in, and cautioned them to avoid unverified rumours circulating on social media.

5-member SC judges team meets violence-hit people in Manipur; opens legal services, medical camps

Imphal, March 22 (IANS) A five-member team of Supreme Court judges, headed by Justice B. R. Gavai on Saturday, visited the camps for the ethnic violence affected in Manipur’s Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts and met displaced men, women and children sheltering there, officials said.

Justice Gavai, who was accompanied by fellow apex court judges Vikram Nath, M.M. Sundresh, K.V. Vishwanathan, and N. Kotiswar Singh and the Manipur High Court’s Chief Justice D. Krishnakumar and Justice Golmei Gaiphulshilu, also virtually inaugurated a legal services camp, a medical camp and a legal aid clinic in the tribal-inhabited district from the Mini Secretariat.

The judges, immediately after arriving in Churachandpur, visited the Sadbhavana Mandap relief camp and interacted with the inmates, who have been sheltering in the camps after they were displaced from their villages following the ethnic violence breaking out on May 3, 2023.

From the Churachandpur district, the judges’ team went to the Bishnupur district and interacted with the inmates in the relief camp there.

The Supreme Court judges team also visited the Indian National Army (INA) museum at Moirang in Bishnupur.

Justice Gavai is the Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).

Earlier in the day, senior lawyers of Manipur accorded a warm welcome to the Supreme Court judges after they arrived at the Imphal airport.

The Supreme Court judges team will also attend the 12th-anniversary celebration of the Manipur High Court on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Saturday inaugurated several new infrastructure and innovation projects at the College of Agriculture at Iroisemba, including a newly constructed girls’ hostel and new Type-IV staff quarters.

The Governor then visited the College of Food Technology at Lamphelpat in Imphal and inspected the Biofloc Unit and Food Processing Pilot Plant located on the campus. He also inspected various stalls at the exhibition-themed Technology and Machinery Demonstration Mela-2024-25, AICRP, on post-harvest engineering and technology and interacted with students and officials.

All leaders make announcements, but I get work done: Tej Pratap slams Tejashwi Yadav’s promises

New Delhi, Oct 27 (IANS) National President of the Janshakti Janata Dal, Tej Pratap Yadav, on Monday reacted sharply to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s promises, saying that while all leaders make announcements, it is he who has the ability to actually get the work done.

Speaking to IANS, Tej Pratap Yadav said, “All leaders make announcements, but it is Tej Pratap Yadav who has the ability to actually get them done. Go and see the medical college we have built. I don’t care what other leaders claim.”

Tej Pratap also highlighted the challenges faced by the people of Bihar’s Mahua, saying, “The people are distressed and worried, they need employment. Here, who will become the Chief Minister depends on the people. The people decide, whoever they give power to, the Jan Shakti Janata Dal will establish itself here.

“I have worked a lot in Mahua. Earlier, people used to visit Patna for medical treatment, but now the situation has changed, they get treatment here in Mahua itself. I have worked for their betterment. The people here want work; they want employment, but they do not get it.”

He also spoke about infrastructure development in the region, stating, “There were no proper roads in Mahua. We have worked on development, including starting the work to open a medical college. Roads will also be built, and we will win.”

Tej Pratap Yadav’s remarks underline his focus on grassroots development and public service, portraying a contrast to leaders who, according to him, operate from comfort and make unfulfilled promises.

Earlier on Sunday, Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial face, held a press conference announcing several welfare measures, including doubling the allowance for Panchayat and Gram Kachahri representatives and introducing pension schemes for former members.

Tejashwi Yadav also said that the Mahagathbandhan only seeks “20 months” from the people of Bihar to prove that positive change is possible.

Yadav accused the NDA government of corruption, unemployment, and industrial neglect, saying, “The people of Bihar are ready for change. They gave 20 years to the NDA, now give us 20 months.”

The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled for November 6 and 11, with the results to be announced on November 14.

Jharkhand HC dismisses petition challenging 2008 lecturer appointments

Ranchi, July 4 (IANS) The Jharkhand High Court has dismissed a petition challenging the appointment of lecturers made in 2008 across various universities across the state.

The court observed that the matter was already under the scrutiny of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and declined to interfere at this stage.

A single bench of Justice Deepak Roshan passed the order on Friday after hearing arguments from all parties involved.

The petition, filed by Meena Kumari and 19 others, had alleged large-scale irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination conducted in 2008 for lecturer recruitment.

The petitioners had demanded cancellation of the selection list prepared by JPSC, citing the fact that even those charge-sheeted by the CBI were continuing in service, receiving postings and transfers.

They pointed out that a CBI probe had uncovered massive corruption in the recruitment process, leading to the filing of chargesheets against several individuals. Despite this, many of the accused were still working as lecturers in state universities, they claimed.

Advocates Sanjay Piperwal and Prince Kumar Singh, representing the JPSC, argued that the matter was already being investigated by the CBI, and charge sheets had been filed in the lower court. Since the judicial process was still underway, they contended, it would be premature and legally unsound to cancel the appointments at this stage.

Agreeing with JPSC’s position, the High Court noted that the issue was sub judice in the lower courts and that any intervention at this point would be inappropriate. The court then dismissed the petition.

The JPSC had conducted the Jharkhand Lecturer Eligibility Test (JET) in 2008 and recommended the appointment of 750 lecturers across 27 subjects.

Following allegations of widespread irregularities and manipulation in the selection process, the CBI was directed to conduct an inquiry. The agency later filed charge sheets against 69 individuals. The trial is going on in the lower courts.
