Minister Mandaviya urges investors to explore Gujarat’s opportunities in green hydrogen

New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS) Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday urged investors to examine emerging opportunities in green hydrogen, hydrogen storage, data centres and semiconductors in Gujarat, saying the state’s long-standing business culture and ability to adapt to economic changes had strengthened its position as an investment destination.

Addressing the curtain-raiser of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2027 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Mandaviya said entrepreneurship and business were deeply rooted in Gujarat’s culture and that the state’s history had long been linked with trade and international commerce.

He traced this tradition from the Lothal era to the present, saying Gujarat had maintained a close association with trade, entrepreneurship and global commerce.

According to the Union Minister, successive editions of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit had expanded investment opportunities while strengthening investor confidence in the state.

“Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem now offers opportunities to both Indian entrepreneurs and multinational companies,” he said.

He called upon investors to participate actively in VGGS-2027 and use the summit to examine opportunities in sectors expected to shape future industrial growth.

He specifically asked investors to study prospects in green hydrogen, hydrogen storage, data centres and semiconductors and consider Gujarat as a base for investments in these areas.

The Union Minister also referred to the wider global economic environment. “India’s economy had continued to move forward despite international challenges, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict that followed the Covid-19 pandemic and instability in West Asia,” he said.

Against this backdrop, Mandaviya described the upcoming summit as an important platform for investors to identify future opportunities and participate in Gujarat’s development journey.

The curtain-raiser brought together Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Union Minister of State Nimuben Bambhaniya, senior government officials and representatives of the business community.

The event in New Delhi was held ahead of VGGS-2027, scheduled for January 10 to 12, 2027.

Mandaviya’s address placed particular emphasis on Gujarat’s transition from its established industrial base towards newer areas of investment.

“The state’s business traditions, positive outlook and capacity to adapt to changing circumstances had contributed to its continuing appeal to investors,” he said.

He urged industry leaders to look beyond established sectors and assess the opportunities emerging from new technologies, energy systems and digital infrastructure as Gujarat prepares for the next edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
