Morena Deputy Collector arrested in rape case, sent to judicial custody till June 19

Morena, June 4 (IANS) Deputy Collector Arvind Mahour, posted at the Morena district headquarters in Madhya Pradesh, was arrested late on Wednesday night in connection with a rape case and has been sent to judicial custody till June 19 by a local court, police said on Thursday.

The action followed a complaint lodged by a woman on the night of June 3, alleging that Mahour sexually exploited her under the pretext of marriage.

Based on the complaint, Civil Lines Police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to sexual exploitation, intimidation and criminal threats.

According to Morena Superintendent of Police (SP) Dharamraj Neena, the complainant stated that she came into contact with Mahour through Facebook.

Their online friendship gradually developed into regular communication. The woman alleged that Mahour proposed marriage to her and, after gaining her trust, took her to a government rest house in Morena on March 30, 2025, where he allegedly established physical relations with her against her will.

The complainant further alleged that Mahour subsequently took her to his official residence in Sabalgarh, where he was then serving as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), and later to a flat in Gwalior.

According to police, she claimed that the alleged sexual exploitation continued at various locations between March 30, 2025, and June 3, 2026.

Police said the FIR also names a woman, identified as Dolly Gayak, who allegedly pressured the complainant to withdraw the case and threatened her with serious consequences.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Morena SP Dharamraj Meena said that the complaint was initially examined by a female police officer and that the complainant underwent a medical examination.

He stated that investigators are also examining digital evidence, including mobile phone records and WhatsApp conversations.

Following his arrest, Mahour reportedly complained of high blood pressure and was taken to a hospital in the early hours of Thursday.

After receiving medical treatment, he was presented before a district court, which remanded him to judicial custody till June 19.

Mahour has previously faced allegations of misconduct and inappropriate behaviour towards women. Police said the investigation remains ongoing and further action will depend on the evidence collected during the probe.
