Indore, Aug 18 (IANS) The Indore Municipal Corporation on Tuesday approved a series of infrastructure and civic development projects, including a link road connecting Kanadia Road with Khajrana Temple, a smart hub under the Footi Kothi flyover and a street food hub near Annapurna Lake.
The Mayor-in-Council, chaired by Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, took the decisions at a marathon meeting.
The civic body also decided to develop and operate a proposed international swimming pool at Brahmaleen Shri Laxmansingh Gaur Udyan on Ranjit Hanuman Marg under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The corporation will develop a smart hub on vacant land beneath the Footi Kothi flyover, with operation and maintenance also proposed under the PPP model.
The link road from Kanadia Road to Khajrana Temple aims to improve connectivity and ease traffic movement in the area. The corporation will also take steps to construct new markets at Subhash Nagar and Vallabh Nagar.
A street food hub will be developed near the lake on Annapurna Road in place of the existing hawkers’ zone for street vendors, in accordance with directions of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
The meeting also approved the selection of an agency to set up, test, and commission a 60-tonne-per-day coconut waste processing plant at Devguradia.
The civic body decided to use corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to develop and beautify public spaces. The corporation will invite online tenders to construct 70 new gantries and grant advertising rights for 10 years.
It also approved opening property tax accounts for private properties in illegal colonies where complete ownership documents are available, while no tax will be collected on government land or encroachments.
An SOP will be prepared to simplify property mutation, while muster-roll workers will be paid according to revised rates fixed by the Indore Collector.
“A detailed discussion on key issues concerning the city took place during today’s MIC meeting. Necessary directives were issued to improve civic amenities further, review the progress of development works and accelerate the holistic development of Indore,” Bhargava said.
