MRPS leader demands Telangana CM to rectify shortcomings in SC sub-categorisation report

Hyderabad, Feb 11 (IANS) Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) leader Manda Krishna Madiga on Tuesday met Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and urged him to rectify certain shortcomings in the report of the Judicial Commission on sub-categorisation of Scheduled Castes (SCs) for implementation of reservation.

While thanking the Chief Minister and the Congress government for passing a resolution in the Assembly to implement the Supreme Court order on sub-categorisation, Manda Krishna Madiga told him that there are certain shortcomings in the report of the Judicial Commission headed by retired High Court judge Justice Shameem Akhtar.

The government tabled the report of the Judicial Commission in the Assembly on February 4.

Talking to the media after the meeting, the MRPS founder said the SCs should be sub-categorised into A.B.C and D and not 1,2 and 3 as recommended by the Judicial Commission.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Manda Krishna praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s commitment to fulfil the promise of sub-classification of SCs.

The MRPS leader said that he extends support to the state government and considers the Chief Minister as his brother for taking up the official process of the SC categorization. Manda Krishna also explained to the Chief Minister about the challenges being faced in the classification of SC sub-castes.

The Chief Minister clarified that the Telangana government is committed to rendering justice to the Madiga community and Madiga sub-castes without any political expediency.

CM Revanth Reddy briefed the delegation led by Mandal Krishna about the discussion held in the Assembly, the constitution of the Cabinet sub-committee, and the Judicial Commission to expedite the categorisation of SCs.

The Cabinet also studied the Commission report and approved the same. The Chief Minister said the official process taken up by the State government for SC categorization helped in avoiding legal implications.

The MRPS representatives recalled that the CM as an opposition MLA in the Assembly fought for a resolution in favour of the classification of SC subcastes.

The Chief Minister suggested the delegation to bring their objections and problems, if any, to the attention of the Cabinet Sub-committee as well as the judicial commission.

Delhi blast case: NIA conducts searches at multiple locations in Kashmir

Srinagar, March 23 (IANS) Teams of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday in connection with the investigation into the 2025 Red Fort explosion case.

Officials said NIA teams this morning raided the residence of a businessman in the Guloora area of Handwara in connection with the blast case. The NIA teams, assisted by J&K Police and the CRPF, searched the premises and checked documents and devices.

A statement from the agency said that searches are being conducted in nine places in various locations of the union territory.

An official added that the “NIA conducted raids at multiple locations across Kashmir as part of its ongoing investigation into the November 10 car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort”.

The raids were carried out at six locations across Srinagar, Baramulla, Kupwara and Kulgam districts on premises linked to individuals arrested in connection with the “terror module” behind the blast, which killed 11 people and wounded 32 others.

Sources said the NIA conducted a search at the residence of Dr Bilal Naseer Malla, a resident of Rafiabad in Baramulla district, who was arrested in connection with the case.

Another search was carried out in the Langate area of Kupwara district. The NIA has apprehended 11 people, including several doctors, so far during the investigation into the bomb blast case.

The prime accused, Dr Umer Un Nabi, was also killed in the deadly explosion.

Officials said teams of NIA, assisted by police and the CRPF, searched the premises and checked documents and devices.

It must be mentioned that on November 10, 2025, a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) detonated at the Red Fort in Delhi.

The attack was orchestrated by a “white-collar” cell of professionals, including doctors from Al-Falah University, linked to transnational groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammad and Ansar Ghazwat-ul Hind.

This event signalled a potential operational shift from border-centric militancy to urban-embedded operations, where actors exploit metropolitan anonymity and logistical networks within the country’s interior.

No reason for Haryana to seek extra water when it has already got its share: Punjab Cong chief

Chandigarh, May 1 (IANS) With the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) deciding to release 8,500 cusecs more water to Haryana, Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday warned that people of the state would not allow a single drop of extra water to flow to any other state. He said what has been the rightful due of Haryana has already been provided to it and it cannot seek extra water when Punjab was itself too short of it.

Warring demanded that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann call an emergency all-party meeting to devise an effective strategy to save Punjab’s waters.

Referring to the AAP announcement of holding protests, he said it was just drama aimed at diverting public attention.

“When you are in government, why do you need to stage any dharna?” he asked the AAP government while telling it to take everyone along.

Warring said there was no reason for Haryana to seek extra water when it had already got its share.

“We cannot let our own state go dry to provide water to others,” he observed, while assuring full support and cooperation to the Punjab government to deal with the situation.

The Congress state President accused the AAP government of hypocrisy, pointing out, it had a secret understanding with the BJP which was exposed when it unleashed a reign of terror on the peacefully protesting farmers.

“When you already have such an understanding with the BJP, why do you need to enact the drama of protests?” he asked the AAP leadership, while warning it against any compromise or surrender of Punjab’s water to any other state.

He clarified that his party was not against providing Haryana with the water that has been already allocated to it under various agreements in the past, which it has been receiving all these years.

“But we will not allow a single drop of extra water to flow out of Punjab,” he made it categorically clear, while explaining that when Punjab does not have enough water for its own consumption, how can it provide extra water to others.

The BBMB on Wednesday evening ordered that an additional 8,500 cusecs of water would be released to Haryana.

Aghast at this decision, the Punjab government has stepped up security at the regulator’s end of the Nangal dam.

During a meeting of the BBMB’s three member states — Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, the Punjab government issued a dissent note, saying it did not have an extra drop to share, and Haryana should have used its share judiciously.

While the release of water is yet to start, the government has stepped up security at the regulator end of the Nangal dam fearing a law-and-order situation.
