Vijayadashami should inspire personal change: Gujarat BJP chief

Gandhinagar, Oct 19 (IANS) Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Jagdish Vishwakarma on Monday said Vijayadashami should be an occasion not only to celebrate the victory of good over evil but also to resolve to bring positive change in one’s life and fulfil one’s duties towards society and the nation.

Extending greetings to people in the state and across the country on the festival, Vishwakarma said Vijayadashami symbolised the victory of good over evil, righteousness over unrighteousness and truth over falsehood.

“The life and ideals of Lord Shri Ram inspire us to follow the path of truth, propriety, dedication to duty and public welfare,” he said.

Vishwakarma said the festival encouraged people to give up negativity, ego and other vices and embrace truth, self-restraint, compassion and good conduct.

He said the significance of Vijayadashami lay beyond the celebration of victory, adding that “it should inspire introspection and a renewed commitment to positive change and responsibilities towards society and the nation”.

The BJP state president also wished citizens happiness, peace, good health and prosperity, expressing hope that every family would progress towards a better quality of life.

He called for stronger bonds of mutual affection, goodwill and cooperation, along with the preservation of social harmony and a renewed commitment to national unity and integrity.

Earlier in the day, Vishwakarma offered prayers at the Shree Varadayini Mataji Temple in Rupal village of Gandhinagar district on the ninth day of Navratri, seeking the well-being, prosperity and welfare of citizens.

The visit coincided with the festival dedicated to the worship of Maa Amba, observed during Navratri.
