Zayed & Sussanne Khan’s first Mother’s Day without mom Zarine Khan: Miss you each day

Mumbai, May 10 (IANS) It is actor Zayed Khan and Sussanne Khan’s first Mother’s Day after the passing of their mom Zarine Khan.

Taking to her social media handle, Sussanne remembered her mother with a fond memory.

The entrepreneur had converted an old picture with her mother into a video with the help of technology.

Expressing her longing for her dear mother, Sussanne, revealed that she tries to be a better version of herself every day.

She shared on social media, “I miss you more each day… you were and still are the Best mother.. thanks to technology i can convert some of our old pics into videos.. looking for a tech miracle to be able to see you again someday.. in real.. i am sure i will. always need to be known as Zarine’s Sussanne.. I may not have been so authentic as you were all the time.. but I try to be better each day.. I miss you my Mummsy.. too too much. and more. (sic).”

Sussanne chose the “Trouble” track by Coldplay as the background score.

Zarine Khan passed away on November 7, at the age of 81, due to age-related issues.

She was the wife of veteran actor and filmmaker Sanjay Khan and mother of Sussanne Khan, actor Zayed Khan, Simone Arora, and Farah Khan Ali.

Ever since her demise, Sussanne has been publishing unseen precious moments with her mother on social media.

Recently, the Interior designer shared some rare pictures and video clips, recalling her time with her mother.

The first picture showed Sussanne being warmly hugged by her mother Zarine Khan.

“To the most beautiful mother… we celebrate your love everyday,” Sussanne added the text.

The post also included a video of Sussanne and Zarine together as the two smiled at the camera.

“You are my centre,” she captioned the clip.

Los Angeles, May 17 (IANS) Hollywood star Joaquin Phoenix received a heartening response from the audience during the screening of his film ‘Eddington’ at the ongoing edition of the Cannes Film Festival. ‘Eddington’ is directed by Ari Aster, and is a contemporary Western film set in the Covid-era.

The film also stars Emma Stone, Austin Butler and Pedro Pascal, and earned a 5-minute standing ovation at its Cannes Film Festival premiere on Friday, reports ‘Variety’.

The film’s distinct comment on American political and societal discourse did not overwhelm some of the international sets. High in the rafters of the Palais, at least 20 people trickled out over the course of the screening.

As per ‘Variety’, when the credits seemed imminent, many up top scattered. Aster was typically self-deprecating after the premiere, saying, “I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what you think. Sorry, I guess? Thank you, I guess?” He followed that by saying, “I feel very privileged to be here. This is a dream come true. Thank you so much for having me”.

According to its official synopsis, the A24 film is set in May 2020 and follows “a standoff between a small-town sheriff and mayor” that “sparks a powder keg as a neighbour is pitted against a neighbour in Eddington, New Mexico”. Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward and Clifton Collins Jr. round out the cast.

‘Eddington’ is Aster’s follow-up to 2023’s ‘Beau Is Afraid’ which also starred Phoenix as a paranoid man who embarks on a surreal journey to get to his mother’s funeral, facing his greatest fears along the way. Despite receiving generally positive reviews from critics, ‘Beau Is Afraid’ was considered a box office failure, making only $11 million. After premiering at Cannes, ‘Eddington’ is set for a theatrical release on July 18.

The Cannes premiere of ‘Eddington’ marks Aster’s first time attending the festival. His debut feature, horror favourite ‘Hereditary’ bowed at Sundance Film Festival in 2018. ‘Midsommar’, his well-reviewed sophomore film starring Florence Pugh, and ‘Beau Is Afraid’ both skipped the festival circuit and went straight into theaters. Aster’s cast is more familiar with the festival, with Phoenix having won its best actor award in 2017 for Lynne Ramsay’s “You Were Never Really Here” and stone having attended last year with Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Kinds of Kindness”.

Hugh Jackman recalls mishap onstage after drinking too much water

Los Angeles, Dec 12 (IANS) Hollywood star Hugh Jackman has reminisced about the embarrassing moment he lost control of his bladder during a performance of “Beauty and the Beast” on stage.

Appearing on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM show this week, Jackman, who plays Gaston, revealed he was suffering with persistent headaches at the time, and sought advice from a naturopath.

The actor revealed: “He said, you’re dehydrated. You gotta drink a lot, you gotta drink a lot of water, drink it before five o’clock, like two litres of water. So that first day I drank two gallons because I’m like – and you’re nuts. You can see what’s happening.

“The first song I sing, ‘You’ve been dreaming just one dream’, is very, it was so hard to get through. I had to pick her up, I had to drag her around, I had to sing. As I picked Belle up, a little bit of … came out and I’m wearing red tights. And then I thought, uh oh.”

The actress playing Belle in the production noticed something was wrong almost immediately, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

He added: “Belle’s over my shoulder going, ‘What’s going on?’ She’s like, ‘What’s going on?’ because I’d stopped singing, I was just marching around.”

As the song built to its crescendo, Jackman found himself facing an incredibly difficult decision to make.

He said: “At the end of the song, I had a choice. You sing that F sharp and I either sing it, p*** my pants, or I don’t sing it and humiliate myself. So I sang it and it was just going, it was just going the whole way. And I immediately, instead of taking my bow, I turned upstage. I just jumped around and I looked down and there was nothing.”

He jokingly described his costume as a “wetsuit”, with the audience none the wiser about his accident.

A sex worker fights herself fighting against the odds in ‘Chidiya Udd’ trailer

Mumbai, Jan 8 (IANS) The trailer of the upcoming streaming crime drama series ‘Chidiya Udd’ was unveiled on Wednesday. It follows the story of a sex worker and her aspirations while she puts up a lone fight in the big bad underbelly of the city.

The series stars Jackie Shroff, Bhoomika Meena, Sikandar Kher, Madhur Mittal, Mayur More, and Mita Vashisht in pivotal roles.

Talking about the show, Jackie Shroff, who essays the role of Qadir Khan, said, “The world of ‘Chidiya Udd’ is full of twists and turns. It’s a place where survival is the ultimate game, and every character is fighting their own battle. Portraying Qadir has been a challenging yet rewarding experience and the audience will love it.”

The story follows a young woman caught in the crossfire of criminals and shifting alliances. Seher (essayed by Bhoomika Meena) is a young woman from Rajasthan, and has to confront the harsh world of Mumbai. The series explores her fight to break free from the chains that bind her, while revealing the harsh realities of life.

Bhoomika Meena, who portrays the role of Seher, added, “Portraying Seher has been an incredible journey. She is a fighter, someone who refuses to succumb to the harshness around her. The challenges she faces in this unforgiving world are daunting, but her strength and determination shine through. ‘Chidiya Udd’ is a powerful story of survival, and I hope the audience finds themselves drawn to Seher’s spirit and the choices she makes along the way”.

Sikandar Kher said, “The world of Chidiya Udd is grey, where every decision comes with consequences. It’s a place where power, loyalty, and survival are at the forefront, and I’ve loved exploring the dynamics of my character within this environment. This series is filled with intense moments, and I believe it will leave the audience on the edge of their seats as they witness these characters fight for their very survival”.

The series is produced by Harman Baweja, Vicky Bahri, and is directed by Ravi Jadhav. ‘Chidiya Udd’ is set to stream on January 15 on Amazon MX Player.
