Jaipur, Sep 11 (IANS) A man allegedly killed his wife and three daughters with a cement block at their home in Jaipur’s Hathoj area before fleeing the scene, police said on Friday.
The incident took place in Govindpuri Colony near Scholars International School under the Kardhani police station limits. The accused has been identified as Rahul Jha, who is suspected of murdering his wife, Geeta Jha, and their three daughters, Nandini, Radhika and Gauri.
According to police, information about the killings was received at around 10 a.m. on Friday, following which local police, senior officers and a forensic team rushed to the spot. The bodies were found in different rooms of the house at Plot No. A-169 in Govind Vatika.
DCP (West) Prashant Kiran said preliminary investigations suggest the murders may have stemmed from a family dispute, though the exact motive is yet to be established. Investigators suspect the victims were attacked while they were asleep during the night. A stone allegedly used in the crime has been recovered from the house.
Police said the accused allegedly received a milk delivery at around 7 a.m. before fleeing. His elderly father, Lakshminath Jha, was found inside the house when officers arrived.
The gruesome incident triggered shock and outrage in the locality, with large numbers of residents gathering outside the house after news of the killings spread. Neighbours alerted the police, following which senior officers, including SHO Sawai Singh, reached the spot and launched an investigation.
Police are questioning family members, relatives and neighbours to ascertain whether there had been any ongoing disputes or tensions within the family. Search operations have been launched to trace the accused, while forensic experts are collecting evidence from the crime scene.
The investigation is underway, and more details are expected to emerge after forensic examination and further questioning.
